From 1995 through this last season, name the top 3 best CCIW players in the following categories:
1. QB
2. RB
3. WR
4. OL
5. DL
6. LB
7. DB
8. Kicker

I know Mugsy is still in deep thought over this one, but I'm curious on some of the other regulars' opinions(Usee, dansand, dhf, Jaybird, redmen96/44, etc.).

I could really only tell you the best Wheaton guys I've seen, except for a few others who were too good to NOT notice in just a few games. There's also that problem that my first fb season in the CCIW was 1999... and in 1995 I was entering my freshman year of high school.  :D

I am, however, impressed that you bothered to put your list in alphabetical order...  ;)

its an interesting question and I agree w Mugsy, it will take some time to research. some of the key people have already been highlighted. off the top of my head I can't imagine an offensive backfield that doesn't consider Scott Tumilty from Augie or Pedro Aruzza from Wheaton. My top 3 qbs have already been listed (lon erickson, kam kniss, jeff brown).  more later.

I strongly considered Arruza on my list, but I wasn't sure if he was still there in 95.   He was one of those guys that you swear was at a school for like 7 years!

Nair burns...
Don't wanna know why you know... :-X

I swear not from personal experience...only the stories of tragic Nair incident gone horribly wrong (I won't share that teammate's story) Lets just say no more on the subject

I also have not been around long enough to pick anyone pre 2000-2001 with any experience other than looking at stats and all-conference/all-region/all american numbers.

Posters:
DB: How does Mario Smith from NCC rate as one of the better shut-down CB's in CCIW?

Other NCC folks I would put on some kind of list:
LB: Gary Kmic from NCC
WR: Brad Spencer NCC
QB: Jeremy Walsh NCC
DE: Ben Hare NCC

I don't know where these folks stack up, I havn't done all the research but I thought they all deserved mention in the catagories

Smith was a very good corner on a couple of good teams.  He wasn't the impact player that Junebug or Brian Lee were, but IMHO, he is in the next tier of CB's in the recent era at NCC.  Kmic(sp?) was a very good LB, but there were others just as good.  Brad Spencer and Walsh were caught up in the DeGeorge era which kept them both from having the types of numbers they could have had. Hare was impressive with the types of things he could do as an undersized DE.   He had a knack for getting to the QB.

I strongly considered Arruza too.  He got better and better as the game went on.   However, I don't know how in the world I left off Tumilty.  Must have been "recent memory syndrome."

I heard Junebug was amazing. He coached the first year I was there, but I never saw him play.

Is DeGeorge still at Auggie coaching defense?

NCC_alum62

Anyone from NPU making anybody's lists of standout?

Kicker/Punter: Mike Augustine NCC definetly deserves to be up in that list of kickers, possibly Ryan Jordan form NCC as well...we had to do alot of kicking at times  ;)

The only one that is maybe thought about is Rios the RB.  Scott and John Love were great players at North Park in the 80's.

Jordan is # 3 on my list for this time period.  ;)

No, he has been gone for a couple of years.  Last I heard, he was out of coaching.
