Am I the only one who finds the March 1 press release headline on the Home page ..... amusing? Confusing?

you mean the part about 29,000 votes for a sack that even Mugsy couldn't have missed? I agree.

Ah... usee & CardinalAlum, I feel the affirmation.

Actually, that is why it was so good to be playing next to Chad Thorson, Thane Ritchie, Andy McGowen, Don Parrish, Paul Sternenburg, Jeff Frazier, etc...  I didn't need to worry about sacking the QB.  They were already all over every QB we played.

Any word on Spring football...I'm not sure when it starts for D-III, maybe some of the southern schools are allready going, but I'm not sure when the CCIW will get at it.

ANyone have any thoughts on priority positions?

Cards:
QB: Kam is going to be the hardest to replace and I have not seen any of the young guys in JV or backup role to make a fair assessment of if anyone can step up for the Cardinals. They return some great weapons in the backfield and a decent group of recievers...if they can get some magic happening in camp with one of the young QB's it will make for a smoother transition. I think they're going to have to run the ball more effectivly this upcomming year. They have some good guys up front and if they work hard again this off season should pave the way for Sulo to repeat as all-conference.

LT: Spicer was a very good tackle for them these last two years. They have a couple reserves that have a good frame for a tackle. They are pretty solid in the middle with Kasper, Braga, and the LG (couple guys rotated in for that) and I believe thier RT is back for another year (Palmer?)

DT: Lost Hannon and Yena to graduation, I was really pleased they found a way to use Yena as a run stuffer DT, something I think the program has really lacked in the middle the past couple years. DE has some capable people returning.

DB: Saftey play really lost a good one in Tim, but they need to shore up an at times shakey pass defense, the other Sulo looked good at CB, they need to really find a couple more playmakers. They've done a real good job supporting the run especially #2 against CUW, and against Auggie, but Wheaton and Capital had way too much success.

Dream of the day when Wheaton finally gets past Mt. Union (hasn't happened yet and isn't looking good for a while either).

If wheaton wants to get by MUC they are going to have to do more than dream. I think they are going to have to get creative. they can beat most of the teams they play by lining up and playing basic defense and offense. I think they need more creativity vs MUC. they can't line up and play against better players. they have to use their skills and do some creative gameplanning. take a couple more risks and open up the playbook on both sides.

Does anybody else feel an emotional "let down" once the basketball season has concluded?  I know there is Baseball/Softball and Spring Sports, but they don't carry the same stigmas as football and bball do!
Bring on Football!
Elmhurst 2007 schedule has the Jays making the 3 long distance CCIW trips and their first 2 games on the road.  Note:  the Chicago game I believe is a 6:00 start (at least that is what is on the Chicago website).

I know this is way early, but I am looking at the Chicago and Olivet games as being tell tale games for the Jays this year.  I think Olivet is going to be a very tough team this upcoming year and Chicago is usually pretty decent.  I would not like to see Elmhurst go into that Carthage game with a 1-2 record.  Gosh, each year it seems the CCIW is getting increasingly more competitive and all 7 games are tough challenges.

I agree Jaybird on both of the statements at the end of your last post.

Elmhurst can definetly gauge its season off thier first three games, I'm going to go ahead and include Benedictine in that mix. Olivet and Chicago are definetly at another level than Benedictine, but I think the staff there is starting to turn things around. They were much more competitve last year in thier conference than they were in previous years and the new facilities are probably starting to draw some second looks from kids who wouldn't have considered them before. Olivet is definetly a solid team, I was just reading up on the Michigan conference and seeing where the teams stacked up and they played very competitive football last year. Chicago also has a pretty solid program and is always competitive.

The CCIW as a whole is really starting to play more physical and better programs in thier non-conference. I think we have good records in non-conference and it really shows going into they play-offs until we hit the wall known as the OAC...thats got to change for the CCIW to be considered a top conference.  I personally would rather see less cupcake non-conference games because I think it prepares players for the more physical conference schedule. In my experience we played some decent teams here and there during non-con at NCC, but the hardest and most physical games were always in conference.

Is it August yet? :)

How about.... creative dreaming. :D

The offseason is my time to actually have a life (okay, I sorta have a life during the season too, but it's less of a life! :-X ). While there are unfortunately many, many less interesting things to see in the Midwest naturewise, out here in Cali I take my energy out on roadtrips and hikes on the beach or in National Parks. So, in other words, I will begin to have a life in only one week. Sweet. :D

There's always baseball... but as I told the Elmhurst baseball players who were selling raffle tickets at the Elmhurst Bluejay Classic, "What, I'm going to give you money so you can beat Wheaton even more badly next season?"  ??? :-[ >:( :D ;) And there's always professional baseball, but... oh, yeah... my team (the Orioles) haven't had a winning season since like my sophomore year in high school.  ::)

WOW, today in Northern, Illinois the temps have reached in the lower 70's. IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! But I guess I can't get too excited because they say there is a chance of snow by the weekend.

Just found out last night that a fellow I went to high school with played at Wheaton for four years (second hand knowledge.)
His name was Clark King and he passed away recently. I see the combined record for Wheaton while he was there was 7-21-1. I say he should have gone to LINFIELD.

Won't know if anyone remembers him, but I do.
