Even Street & Smith's has finally managed to learn that picking anyone other than Mount Union No. 1 in the preseason is foolish.

They had a stretch of two or three years at the beginning of the decade where they picked anyone other than Mount Union and looked pretty silly.

Silly Indeed...downright laughable.  But it is hard to believe that MU has been so darn successful.  There isn't another team than can boast the record that they have for the past 13 years.  10 trips to the championship and 9 wins in that game.  Everyone is gunning for you, everyone trying to bring thier best every game, every play because they want to be the one that said "I/We beat Mout Union."

And in the past nine years, only four can say they've beaten them. And only one of those has the Walnut and Bronze.

Just and update...Raiders return 7 starters on offense, 7 starters on defense, the starting kicker, the MVP QB from the Stagg Bowl who was not a starter. Kmic who is the RB had 295 yds and 3 TD's in last years game. See you in Alliance in Nov?

Don't think Coach Swider will knock out the goose egg this year.

I watched the replay of last years game recently and it was interesting to see that LK and Coach Swider seem to have a very good relationship based on the post game meeting at mid field. Everthing I have ever read and seen about Coach Swider gives me the impression he is a class guy too. I think that was even mentioned several months ago in postings. Two class guys with two class programs doing battle.

One for the other thumb I always say!

Raiderguy-- Yes Coach Swider is well known to be a great motivator and a class act.  I don't know if you know this, but Coach Swider gives public speeches and motivational speeches to youth groups and other events.  He is the type of person you love to sit down and chat with.  Not just about football, rather about life in general.  What a role model and Wheaton is lucky to have him.

How are you that good one year and still return that many players? Their program has to be as good as any program in any college spoet at any level. I have only been following D3 football a couple of years and here and I new that they have been dominant of late but I didn't realize how long they have been so good.

Its very true about Coach Swider being a class act and heck of a coach.  The same goes for LK at Mount Union.  His graduation percentage is boasted as being just as high or higher as his winning percentage...an impressive feat considering the top D-1 schools in terms of winning have, at times, downright awful graduation percentages.

In my opinion it's rare to find a head coach in the CCIW that isn't a class act all the way.
