What is going on at South Park???? They have practically lost their entire staff (again) and from what i hear Coach Pethtel is lookin to bail because of the whole "havin to hire a minority" thing. :o

Zorba where did you hear this information?

I met with Coach Pethtel last month and he was very excited about the 2007 season, the new uniforms, and his recruiting class to start practicing/growing up a Viking.

And as far as the minority thing-- I do not think this is a relevant topic as those of you know who know Coach P, know that he is a first class, great man.

I heard from my friends son who is a player there. They have 3 coaches back from last years staff, they had a total of 10 last year. I also heard he had already started interviewing to go elsewhere if the school doesnt let him hire the best candidate as opposed to a minority.

I also just noticed the job board ad for NP.... It states that the coaches salary is very competetive...Competetive to whom, pop warner football coaches. NP coaches are the lowest paid group in the cciw. I know this because a friend of mine coached there several years ago. They have always been the lowest paid. They should be more honest with their ad.

and does your friend who coached their know what everyone else in the CCIW makes? they may in fact be the lowest paid but I question the source of your info.

Things could change in several years. Just a thought.

I also don't see any coaching positions being advertised on the NPU job openings page...at least not today.

Jaybird, race questions aside, is what zorba said about losing asistants true?

NPU lost one if its 4 full time staffers to a head hs coaching job.  4 of the 6 part time assistants will return for 2007.  As is the case with most D3 part time positions, they don't pay exteremly well but offer the chance for a young coach or retired coach to continue his love for the game in the college ranks.  So 7 of the 10 coachs from last year will return.

Coach Pethtel is doing EVERYTHING in a first class manner as he goes about "righting the ship".  Very impressive recruiting class from what I have heard as well.  Some good transfers which should provide some immediate help.

Any word on where the transfers are coming from?  D1, D2, D3 etc?  And, did they get playing time at the previous school?

Exactly. Zorba spread this same sort of "all of the NPU coaches are abandoning ship" baloney in this room several weeks ago. I'm surprised that anyone took him seriously enough to respond to him this time around.

Credibility should be earned on these message boards. Zorba hasn't earned any.

Exactly.  It is of little value to post speculation, or even worse, unfounded assertions.

I have been very impressed with Coach Pethtel and his rebuilding efforts.  He cares about the institution, the team, the staff, the campus community, and the players (both as players and as people).
