As profane as it is..."The Program" is still one of all-time favorite movies and still gives me some chills in some of the football scenes...CLASSIC!

I would take Alvin Mack and Darnell Jefferson on my team anyday!

Well when the tests are "How many fingers am I holding up? & What color is my shirt?"  I would hope they do well.

I am just kidding also.  Trying to stir the pot, so to speak.  You know for the season.

Since Carthage is the "Red Men", that second question is a bit of a gimme if you're looking to get into that school. ;) :D

Hey, I thought it was funny. I'm mostly just grateful that someone is using NPU as the target of generic college rivalry humor in this room. It's nice to be a part of the general CCIW banter rather than be specifically targeted for the woeful performance of the Vikings on the gridiron.

My son is new to Lakeland College next year and I was wondering what kind of series they have had in the past with Carthage? Has it been competitive or blow outs? I know the CCIW is a far superior conference than the one that Lakeland plays in and that is why I ask if Lakeland is way over their heads. I have heard Carthage has a very good team year after year. Seeing Lakeland's non-conference schedule it looks like a trip to the butcher. Any input on this series would be great. Good Luck to all of your teams in 2007. Be it a very safe year for all the players.

NPU lost one if its 4 full time staffers to a head hs coaching job.  4 of the 6 part time assistants will return for 2007.  As is the case with most D3 part time positions, they don't pay exteremly well but offer the chance for a young coach or retired coach to continue his love for the game in the college ranks.  So 7 of the 10 coachs from last year will return.

Coach Pethtel is doing EVERYTHING in a first class manner as he goes about "righting the ship".  Very impressive recruiting class from what I have heard as well.  Some good transfers which should provide some immediate help.

That's a very nice hire for NPU. Harold Blackmon was known as a high-character guy when he was the captain at Northwestern, and even though he wasn't much more than a special-teams player during his two years with the Seahawks, it's always a plus to get a coach at this level who has NFL experience. The fact that he's a Chicago native (Leo HS and Northwestern) is a plus as well.

Old 40:

Welcome aboard.

The recent Lakeland-Carthage games have been very close.  Carthage has won the last three, but they've all been competitive.

2006: Carthage 21 Lakeland 14: Red Men score with 9 seconds left to win

2005: Carthage 20 Lakeland 16

2004: Carthage 18 Lakeland 14 - Muskies led by 8 at the half

2003: Lakeland 17 Carthage 16

2002: Lakeland 34 Carthage 32

We have other historic scores for Lakeland going back to 1999 if you're interested (see links under "Past Records" on the right).
