Hi all,

I have been away for awhile.  The annual Summer vacation to Silver Lake, WI and the new job has had me traveling 240.  Good to be back.  I know CardinalAlum sure missed me  :P

Comet14,  I know Elmhurst is planning a scrimmage but have not heard against who or when.  I know a few years ago they scrimmaged UW OshKosh.

Hope all is well with everybody and September 1 is creeping every so closer.  ;D

Wow, this is sure a strange discussion for a football board.

I've had problems with bleeding nipples from time to time. Try NipGuards. They work for me. I'm assuming you also know about BodyGlide to prevent chafing.

I hope you're not running in cotton shirts. You could also run topless, just don't post any pictures.

My last post on the topic so I don't annoy everyone else (more than I normally do).  No, I don't use cotton shirts.  I use the synthetic, mesh shirts.  Generally they work great, except when it is 80+ degrees with 80%+ humidity.  The past 3 weeks have been brutal for running and have led to maximum sweating.  Even the shirts design specifically for long distance running get so staturated with sweat that chaffing is inevitable.  Like I said I don't think it will be nearly as severe come Oct. 7th.

I will check out NipGuards.  Thanks.

Mugsy, I'm running a half marathon in San Diego on Sunday and hope to work up to a full one eventually.  As for the chaffing, they are kinda cheesy looking, but I've been happy using the Under Armor compression shirts.  Specifically they have a line called "Metal" that has worked real well.  Any type of shirt that's loose gives me the same problems, especially here in Southern Cal where it can get a little warm.  So that's my one and half cents worth if it helps at all.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

79JayBird;

Elmhurst is scrimmaging Lakland on Friday August 24. They are doing a controlled practice at 12:00 noon to 3:00. 3 hour rest/lunch break. Scrimmage from 6:00 to 8:00. 2-3 Qtrs for NO.1's and NO. 2's. JV 1-2 Qtrs.

I hope Lakeland can provide some challenge for the birds. I don't post much as I am a retired coach and  my son is the head coach at one of those two schools. I hope everyone comes out injury free and with a good learning experience. Good Luck to all of the CCIW teams in 2007. Your conference should be a great race.

devildog,

Hmm... what a coincidence?  I just remembered I bought a black UnderArmour shirt last spring.  I tried it out again just today on an 8 mile run.  I think it'll do the trick because there aren't any seams and it is snug enough to avoid rubbin'.

Being 40 I'm sensitive to knowing my boundaries on what is acceptible.  No shirt is repulsive to anyone around... not that looking like an overstuffed sausage is great either.   When I wear the UnderArmour, it probably looks like 3 pigs fightin' to get out of a burlap sack, but if it works...

Best of luck on your half marathon.

Awwh  CardinalAlum DID miss me!  ;)

Old40, do you know if that scrimmage is in Elmhurst or Lakeland?
I think we will get a good barometer of where Elmhurst is when they play Olivet.  I think OC has a solid team returning and will be a tough game for both EC and IWU.

79jaybird, The scrimmage is in Elmhurst but I think coach Journell  said the scrimmage started at 5 p.m. not 6. I will have to check on that part of it.

I believe the Concordia/Carthage scrimmage is at 9 am on Saturday 8/25.

Ok I'll be the guinea pig on the predictions (you heard it here first)

Wheaton 10-0 (studebaker, iitersagen and Ullrich star)
Augie  8-2 (with a win over naperville in RI)
NCC 8-2  (a loss to the 2 big dogs)
Carthage 7-3 ( along w Donavon Moore, a little swagger returns to Kenosha)
Elmhurst 5-5  (a cross between rebuild and reload)
NPU 4-6 (that's right, a win over IWU in Chicago for first conf win)
IWU 3-7 (about what we have come to expect from Btown)
Millikin 3-7 (a brutal preseason sched does them in--and a loss to IWU)

who is next?

Finally... an updated 2007 Wheaton roster has been posted that has information for all players (incoming freshmen and update details for returning players).  Previous 2007 roster contained 2006 details for returners.

http://athletics.wheaton.edu/roster.asp?path=football

According to the roster, Wheaton has a 6-1, 885lb, Fr tight end. :P
