Does anyone know if Augie or Carthage will be scrimmaging anyone this year?

Carthage always has had a scrimmage with Concorida (WI), I believe that it will be at Carthage this year.

Been watching the Augustana practices.  With new coaches was hoping to see something different, but appears to be same old, same old.  HEY CCIW - Augie is going to be running options!!
Hopefully, Augie will sqeek in under the new TRI-CHAMPION standings that was instituted last year.  Apparently, CCIW has created a "feel good" atmoshere so that no coaches have a hissy fit.  Would not want Coach Barnes to actually have to recruit using his REAL record.
Oh well, look for Augie to run, NC to pass, Carthage to play dirty, Milliken to get beat up, Wheaton to act like the CUBS, Elmhurst to be a no show, Ill Wesleyan to be the patsy team.  Isn't there one more that seems to elude me.

Well you're missing North Park on there...expect them to...well this year I expect them to loose, until they show something different. But I also expect improvement based on the coaching staff sticking, a good recruiting class, and the nice facilities they have now.

Just to poke at you a bit, NCC had the CCIW's leading rusher in Dom Sulo, so lets say expect them to gain alot of yardage  ;D ;D

I predict that NCC will rely heavily on the tackle/guard trap/counter and the option this year with a strong O-line returning and an all conference TB and a good backup in Izzy Brown.  Also I expect some of the young guys to figure into the mix this year.

Kyle Kniss may not have participated in NCC spring drills, but I bet his bro and the staff gave him alot of stuff over the summer, nothing illegal mind you, but I bet he is getting all the advice he can from Kam on how to run the offense (not just manage it) and I wouldn't be surprised if looked sharp this year.  The Cardinals play a good non-conference schedule that should allow him to prepare and improve week in and week out and they open conference play on Foster Ave.

Cardinals playing CUW, WashU, and Benedictine are good things in my opinion, they will prepare very hard for each of those teams, they're going to have to work hard in summer camp and get themselves ready each week because all three of those teams can win football games.  I think the cards go 3-0, but they're not gimmies either.

Can you explain the comment "Carthage to play dirty"

"Don't feed the troll" is an expression that's popular among chatrooms and message boards all over the Internet, gentlemen. I suggest that we adopt it in this room.

augie, how do you have more negative karma points then posts? also as far as " not feeding the troll" to squelch a reponse to augies post sounds like censorship to me. there is a question on the board, why not answer it. Are  we not unable to discern the difference between fact and opinion and decide for ourselves? Could this statement be based on augie's experience with carthage? i don't know but I would rather hear a response and decide for myself, then start squelching thoughts based on wether they hurt some one's feelings or they make us uncomfortable. Freedom of speech is a responsibility before it is a right. Let the forum decide if it a reponsible statement.

Tailgater

I'm ready for some football and getting the grill and coolers ready for another outstanding season of tailgating. It'll be kinda interesting having my son and his graduated teammates join us for our (parents) version of pre-game warm-ups.

I'll hold off a little before making my 2007 conference predictions. I will say I like all the optimism I'm hearing from Carthage faithful. This is certainly a program that over the past 4-5 years has worked and earned it's way into the top half of the conference. I think this year will be no exception except there is a lot of unknowns to be answered. After I attend next Saturdays scrimmage against Concordia I will hopefully have some answers.....hopefully all good answers. 1) Can the Red Men re-tool the entire offensive line? From what I've been hearing this may present a serious problem. 2) Will they find a big/strong Fullback to clear holes for the running game? 3) Will they find a play maker at Running Back? QB O'Boyle is going to need someone to take the load off him. He accounted for the bulk of the offensive yardage last year as (IMO) questions 2 & 3 were issues last season. 4) What's the depth like at various positions? With all the injuries the Red Men suffered the last couple seasons this will be a key to staying competitive throughout the long season.  They have been capable of filling those voids in years past with capable reserve players.

The defense will be the backbone of this years team. With Powers, Shenault and Moore healthy and back in action this year they will be solid leaders on the "D". I expect the same swarming, blitzing, ball hawking play we have come to expect from a Carthage defense. Moore will most likely be a 1st team All CCIW punter and  I expect Matt Denny to be finally selected a 1st team All CCIW Kicker after 2 seasons as a 2nd team selection. Look for Air-Kenosha from the offense. With the running game in question the receiving core is probably the best in a long while for Carthage. Running from a spread offense, TE Bryan Bergman and WR Eric Halderman will be leaders in receiving and All-Conference selections.

I think Dr. Sager was offering his advice, that's all. Hard to argue with it, though.

As was I. Dr. Sager has been on this board for quite sometime judging from his post totals. I think if this is a false statement , it should be adressed, not ignored.I know of at least 3 Carthage people who post here that are more than qualified to respond to this. I am merely stating that to leave what Dr. Sager perceives as a false statement, that is what i took from it, would be a huge error. Augie took a jab at half of the CCIW teams. In addition to his jab at Carthage, he compared Wheaton to the Cubs (I have no idea what that meant), he claims Elmhurst will be a no show (that's just mean), and he slighted North Park for failing to mention them by name. I'm not sure what his agenda is ... But in a week, we'll be on to serious topics.

Mr. Ypsi

Apparently the point Greg was making was too subtle for some.  When a poster posts only to get a rise out of people (pretty clearly the intent of TAA), the most effective response is to not give them the satisfaction.  Ignoring a troll is hardly the same as 'censorship'!

BTW, as a Hall of Famer, Greg had the power to simply delete the post, which he did not do.  THAT would border on censorship (though it is not really the same thing), but he simply suggested the reasonable course for discouraging those who get their jollies by 'drive-by provocations'.

Nice explanation Mr. Ypsi.

By the way, I wasn't aware that a HOF'er could delete a post.
