pre·sea·son       (prē'sē'zən)  Pronunciation Key
n.   The period immediately before the start of a new season, in which athletes undergo intensive training and participate in exhibition games.

Training and exhibition?   That's exactly what Mount had last week with Averett.   A few weeks of hard training followed by a game that wasn't a real game where they put on an exhibition. ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

This is all one big circular reference...this conversation may never end if someone doesn't stop  :D

but very helpful for increasing total number of posts....

judging by our post totals, I don't think that is a concern of either of us.  ;)

usee (and pg04),

Early alert: On CCIW Chat, Pat is recruiting Greg Sager (whose #1 pet peeve is those posters who conflate 'preseason' and 'nonconference' in bball) to join the fray!  [Not sure if he posts on Sunday nights; you may have dodged the bullet!] ;D ;)

I am a regular reader and occasional poster on the basketball board. I am well aware of Mr. Sager's position on preseason v nonconference. And I don't consider missed exchanges with Mr. Sager as having "dodged a bullet", its more like a existential experience in a higer level speech and debate class.

What a great place to see a small-college football night game - the stands were packed endzone to endzone.  North Park's defense played heroically.

Having seen 42 years of North Park football on that field and sat in the "baking dish" on hot-sunny fall afternoons, what a great place for a night game.  Not a bad seat in the house.  A fantastic way to spend a Saturday evening.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Great to hear my redmen did well on sat.  I would have loved to be there but could not go (sick wife and baby)

Redmen should start out 3-0.  Anybody that was at the game, was carthage that much in control and playing well or was lakeland not very good?  Just curious.  Also I think that next year carthage starts a series of games vs hope college and Valpo.  Should be a much tougher Non-conference schedule.
HEY NORM, I LOST YOUR HAT! GO REDMEN!!!

Redman04,

That's correct per the Carthage Website, Carthage will open up with Hope, then Lakeland, and then Valpo for the 2008 and 2009 Seasons.  Beyond that the non-conference games are not listed.

Yes, yes & yes
Carthage was in control of all aspects of this game start to finish. Many individuals played well (QB Dan DeBoeuf, WR Nick Merchut, RB Andy Bures, CB Aaron Miller, CB Danny O'Donnell, LB Tom Debaker, S Donnavan Moore) as well as team units looking in sink with each other. It is my humble opinion that Carroll College and Lakeland both have fallen off from their competitive levels of the past couple of years. This is way I'm temporarily holding off from total enthusiasm over the Red Men's chances of contending for a CCIW title. Can they stay healthy? so far not. The Elmhurst game, to open CCIW play, will be a true measuring stick for what this team is capable of. There is a score to settle with the Bluejays after lasts years defeat in Kenosha which derailed the Red Men's hopes in 2006.

Congrats to the POW's this week... Hopefully Sulo scores 4 more next week and gets the recognition on offense

that was a tough call. I think the performances at least merited co-POW. Deboeuf had a great debut but 4 td's from an RB is sick. Somehow I bet Sulo won't be lacking for recognition though.

I think you are right..cant take anything away from a soph playing as well as he did.  Did U see (funny huh) Ittersagens punt return?  I am interested if it was anything like the guy from Cal's last week.

I think we should see if we can put together a fantasy football league for D3.
It would be quite a task but I can tell by the number of posts that some people make, that there may be someone who has the time....

I did see the punt return. looked like albion was racing past him to stop the ball from going into the endzone. he caught it on a dead run and was already by the gunners and center. he was never touched and simply had to out run the punter to the sideline. bad coverage by albion as much as anything. but speed kills.

I have no time for a fantasy football league. who are you kidding?  ;)

It is something that we seem to make time for though...
Next weeks game for NC should be a sleeper.....
Sulo will go for 200/3tds in the first half

Sulo should have a good game against BU,  I'm more interested in seeing the air attack get on track for the cardinals.  Thats the first time I can recall that every touchdown was scored on the ground for the cardinals in a few years now.

with a rb like Sulo and a ? starter at QB, I think we may see this for the 1st 3 or 4 games..hopefully we will be balanced enough before we play the "School 20 minutes north of North Central College who changed their name to what goes with Lightning"
