FormerCard,

Congrats on reaching 200 posts.  Great to see another Cardinal reach the "next" level!   :)

Dang... now I'm really toast.  A double team karma drop between CardinalAlum and FormerCard. :o

I'll have you know I just bumped you to positive numbers...

Right back at ya Mugsy

Ditka is playing??  it is over..as long as they don't enter Neal Anderson, the cardinals should romp.

I'm not as worried about Ditka as I am about the new rumor that BU has enlisted their computer science students to try and find a way to get Tecmo Super Bo Jackson on the field Saturday night. So far I've heard they've only had luck getting Tecmo Super Barry Word. Should be interesting to see how this unfolds. I will be there to see it liiiiiive!

How is it possible that Bob Meyer didn't play in the NFL?  ::)

What did happen to Bob Meyer?  I know a lot of guys end up playing for the Chicago Thunder in the west suburbs of Chicago trying to make it to the next level.  However, I'm not sure if Bob was ever part of that crew.

Sorry, not the right team.  But, I think I think it is a team in the Chicagoland Football League.

i clicked on the link and read some of their profiles...pretty funny stuff

I know right, but actually there are some (relatively speaking) talented D1 players that never quite made on some of those teams.

I also noticed that they are calling the league semi-pro.  Kind of interesting...

5 of the 8 CCIW teams receiving votes or ranked in the top 25...is that close to a record for our conference?

Any predicitions on how many will be receiving votes or ranked in the top 25 at the end of the year?

Comet 14

I think it will be only 3. The 4th best team in the conference will probably have 4 losses, to many to be considered IMHO. I will cross my fingers for a fourth theam but not hold my breath.

NCC_alum62

I would think 2-3, depending on how the conference plays out.

I want to say NCC, Wheaton, and a third teamwill get votes, but it all depends, I can't judge the outcome because we haven't played any of the conference games, and I don't know enough about the non-conference oppenents to judge whether some of the wins or losses make a difference.

Some of the pre-season talk was that Lakeland and Olivet were pretty good teams that had a good chance to win their conference this year, also pre-season talk had me thinking that IWU was just not very good this year and that Carthage would need some time to gel an entirely new O-Line, IWU is 1-1 (Coe is undefeated and they really shut down Olivets Offense) and Carthage is 2-0 and handled Lakeland pretty well.

Millikin lost a rough one to a very good ONU team at ONU where they are very good.  Auggie had problems against a top defense, and their defense couldn't match BW.

Wheaton and NCC are where I thought they would be, but Mugsy and some of the other Wheaton regulars were not as impressed with the offense as they thought they would be and I haven't seen 4 rushing TD's since Thorne has been in Naperville, so go figure.

Its early, but I think 3 ranked/vote getting teams would be a fair barometer of success.

NCC_alum62

I think it should also be known that NCC received votes after beating Benedictine my freshman year (2001) and we went on to go 3-7, so I don't put a whole lot of stock in some of the early polls "others receiving votes."

a karma doorprize for reaching this milepost!

Comet 14

Really, only seven, scratch that six more posts to a door prize. I need some steak knives.

NCCAlum 62 I agree with you about the polls situation.  I don't really focus on them until week 4-6, towards halfway of the season.  Case in point, we have been 3-0 and 4-0 the last few years and are still looking to reach 8 wins, which I think the Jays have a good shot here in 2007.  They could easily be 5-5 if they don't execute and play well also.  At the halfway marker, we have a pretty good idea of (    )  team and can gauge where they stand.  Pre Season and early on, IMO it's hard to gauge the talent.

Any idea on the Carthage travel plans this weekend to Cali. Should be a pretty convincing win this weekend for the Red.

I would have loved to be able to go play a game in Cali.  What a great trip to be able to take.
I would think that the hardest part would be to keep your focus on a trip like that.
