I noticed (at BU) that Elmhurst didn't sub more in the defensive backfield and linebackers, however substituted pretty liberally on the D-Line, but it is possible that Tom J has more faith in his backups at D-line than at some of the other positions.

I can think of a few reasons: disciplinary, health, just not ready to play that a coach might keep some backups out, but I'm not a coach at Elmhurst so I can't answer specifically as to why he didn't play as many DB's and LB's as he did D-linemen.

I buy disciplin and injuries but  in a 38pt game is the perfect time to find out if they are "ready". I had to chuckle when I read your last sentence. It sounded just like Jack Nickolson in A Few Good Men. " I'm an educated man but I'm afraid I can't comment on the travel habits of private Santiago" ;D

Also My best and my prayers go out to Zach and his family!

Does anyone have the full story on what actually happened to him?

I didn't hear about Ulrich, did it happen in the game?

Thoughts and prayers for sure for him and the family.

It happened early in the 3rd quarter.  Zach had an outstanding 1st half, as evident by his CCIW offensive player of the week nod.  He came out for the first series of the half and was sack twice.  The next series Bradley was in at QB, so I thought he was done for the day given the score was 38-7 or 41-7.

Shortly after that he collasped, the game was halted for about 15 minutes while the ambulance took him to the hospital.

I have not posted more details, though I've heard a few reports.  I don't have 100% certainty on all the details because I'm hearing 3rd hand information at best and this is not an issue I want to be passing on incorrect information.

I've been slightly burned recently by posting partially inaccurate information on certain topics because in my haste I haven't confirmed all details regarding the content of my posts.  There are a significant number of sharp posters here who will call you out (in a respectful way) when you post inaccurate content.

Like I said... this isn't something I want to be wrong about and I'd rather have the details come from a more official source.

Always smart, this board isn't really the place to release that information first, the team and coaching staff will make a statement when the time is right and we'll all know.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Zach Ulrich and his family, get better soon...

I am an ex-Wheaton football player and recently got the update from one of the coaches on Zach Ullrich.  The preliminary diagnosis was that he suffered a hematoma on the brain (aka brain bleed), which is extremely serious and even life threatening.  It sounds like it was very serious for a while, but it looks like things have gotten better.  He has been responsive and the bleeding has stopped, which means he shouldn't require any surgery.  He isn't in the clear yet, so keep up your prayers, but things do look better.  The last thing I heard was that he was still in Barnes Jewish hospital in St. Louis.  This hospital is supposedly great at dealing with injuries like Zach's so I believe he is in great care.
That's all I know at the moment.  If I hear anything else I will let you guys know.  Just keep he and his family in your prayers.  As for his season, well that looks like it is pretty much over.
