Comet14- I am usually on campus at the fb field early (when the rooster crows  ;) ) setting up the banner, and the equipment.  I will be on campus around 9am for the setup.  I do look forward to meeting you.  I will be dressed in shirt/tie only because I have to zip over to a family wedding reception in the afternoon after the game.  Hope to meet you then.

Your Daughter's a cheerleader?  Whoa! You might want to meet me alone then!  :o  There have been "stories at Elmhurst"  hehe just kidding. :P

I would like to get a chance to meet you We missed each other last year. We usually tailgate acroos the street from the field in the parking row closest to the field. Stop by if you have time. Good luck and safe travel to all.

All joking aside, best of luck to the CCIW this week and safe travels for all.

I (and I'm sure Jaybird is as well) was joking in every sense of the word.

Gotta poke the bear a little, I've always said that if I have a daughter that the first date she brings home I'll be sitting in the living room eating cheeze whiz outta the can and cleaning a gun in my underwear.

Now...I hate cheeze whiz, and I'm also not ever planning on actually owning a gun.  Thats how committed I would be to scaring the piss out of someone trying to date my daughter (theoretically).

Fathers should always be ready to remind a young man taking his daughter out for the first time that they don't mind going back to prison.

Nice post Dennis.  Serious but still made me crack a smile!

Greetings, Wheaton fans!

Normally, I cover games photographically for d3football.com in the South Region, as I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  However, a business trip will be bringing me to the Chicago area this weekend, and I'm going to be able to shoot the Wheaton/Hope game Saturday evening.  (Thank goodness for the 7 p.m. kickoff!) If you'd like to see some of my other game coverage, you can check it out by visiting the Photo Galleries link on the front page of this site.

Please be sure to look for the photo gallery on Sunday, and please support this site by ordering prints early and often.  I also take special requests, so if there's anyone that would like me to snap some shots of something in particular, please send me a private message or email me offline--I'll be glad to accommodate any and all requests.

I'm looking forward to my first taste of real, midwest football in a long time this weekend.  Please say "hi" if you see me and introduce yourself--it's always great to meet fellow DIII fans!

Welcome Josh.  I'll be at the game on Saturday night.  Should be a good game.  Wheaton and Hope have had some high scoring battles in the past, include the playoffs a few years back.  Should be interesting to see how Wheaton adjusts to the loss of QB Ullrich and a starting OT for the season, along with the other rash of injuries.

My guess is that this shouldn't be as high scoring as in years past, as both teams have a good defensive unit.

Will the Wheaton vs. Hope game be available on webcast?

Also, what other CCIW teams offer webcasting?

I spoke to a friend of the Ullrich family this morning and he told me that Zach is progressing well and that they are very optimistic about his recovery at this point.  Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

Sorry if this was noted already, but is Ullrich back in Wheaton?  If not, when is he expected to return home?

Last thing, what's the scouting report on the backup QB at Wheaton?

I haven't gotten an update on whether Ullrich has returned to the Chicago area yet.  When and if I do I will post it.
Now to Bradley.  I don't know much about him, but I do know that he has all the skills to be a very productive QB.  The biggest problem is that Wheaton has really been planning their offense around Ullrich's skills.  Bradley and Ullrich are not the same QB in that Ullrich is great on his feet.  It will be interesting to see what changes the staff at Wheaton makes to give Bradley more time in the pocket.  I imagine there will be more runs and quick, short passes.  The nice thing is that Hope doesn't look very good this year.  Hopefully this will allow Bradley to get his feet wet before being faced with the stiff competition in the CCIW.

I think both backups (Bradley and Norris) have potential to be solid QB's.  The problem is there isn't much to go by just yet.  Both haven't taken too many snaps, so it is hard to judge at this point.

I know both were very good QB's at Wheaton North H.S.  I'll have a better feel after watching on Saturday night.

You will be able to either watch or listen to the game on www.wetn.com
or you can listen to via Hope on http://sports.yahoo.com/top/collegebroadcast/teams/hop

Don't get confused by the difference in times.  The game begins at 7 PM Central time. 8 PM is listed on Hope's site because they are in the Eastern Time Zone.

The nice thing is that Hope doesn't look very good this year.

Although at 0-2, Let's not count out Hope just yet.  Their 2 losses are to some respectable competition.  UW-River Falls pretty much controlled the game vs. Hope and the following week played St. Johns tough.  Hope had a lead vs. Central before the Iowa Dutch came back in the second half, Central is currently 3-0.  Add in the fact that I believe that David Booko, a pretty decent running back, is set to return from a suspension this week (I'm checking the MIAA board for confirmation).  Also Rugenstein is an excellent DE and could spell trouble for a QB getting a large portion of action for the first time since high school.

The North Central Wash U. game can be found at www.wonc.org.  Just click on "listen live."   The students ususally do a pretty decent job, if i may say so myself.  :)

Considering you were one of them... ;)

Yes the students do a nice job, they could mention the score and time left in the game a few more times than they do though.  :D  The feed sometimes has technical difficulties, but normally its very clear.
