Wow, that is bad news about Reyes.  Wheaton has been hit uncommonly hard with the injury bug so far this year.

The buzz around Gingg reminds me of Pedro Arruza as a freshman.  From the first time he carried the ball, even in mopup duty, people said "wow, this kid is going to be special."  Actually, people were saying "wow" when Pedro showed up in August of his freshman year and did more bench reps with 225 than all but a couple of the linemen (24 or 28 IIRC).  People whose opinion I really respect seem to be pretty excited about Gingg, in a similar manner.

Rocky Gingg is a great name for a football player.

If Wheaton's scoreboard is NOT going to be ready this weekend - will they still be using the old one, or will the time be kept on the field and the fans will be in the dark?

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

I really am new to this board - how long has IWU had lights for football?

The Titans used to play one game a year under the lights at their dinosaur of a football stadium, but the last one prior to the re-lighting was a 21-21 tie with Wheaton in 1970 (which marked the Crusaders return to CCIW football after an 11-year absence).

I found that to be pretty darn funny.

Does it mean you give +k to TrueAugieAlum whenver he shows up, because he bashed Augie more than anyone else.

The new scoreboard is going up at the opposite endzone to the current one.  The current one will remain in use until the new one is ready.  The new scoreboard is suppose to be very nice - including a 21 foot TV.

If that were the case, he'd be the only one giving TrueAugieAlum any positive karma.

Dennis,
Really surprised the new scoreboard won't be ready for Homecoming since I thought that was why the rush to put it in and up.  I think there will be a very disappointed donor(s) if that doesn't happen.  Maybe Coach Swider is "Lou Holzing" the scoreboard issue.

I'm not sure the intention was for the scoreboard to be completed by homecoming.  The letter I have mentions it being complete for the Augustana game and the letter was sent in August.

Just a note on the new Wheaton scoreboard.  They are attempting to rush it up by this weekend, and from where I am sitting now I can hear them blasting music and checking the PA system on it.  But the propability of them having replay capability by this weekend is very slim.  That will most likely be ready by the Augie game, there is a huge learning curve on this new toy.

If it is not ready by this weekend, they will have to use the old scoreboard (which has kind of already disconnected) but they will not have play clocks so those would be on the field.  Of course Millikin would have to agree to this.

Anybody know if Rocky Gingg from Wheaton and Kyle Gingg from Boise State are relatives?  Gingg is a pretty unusual last name and they went to the same high school. Watched part of the Boise St. v Southern Miss game last night and saw Kyle play.

Also, I'll take my crack at the final conference standings...

Wheaton 7-0
Augie 6-1 (Wheaton)
NCC 4-3 (Wheaton, Augie, Carthage)
Elmhurst 4-3 (Wheaton, Augie, NCC)
Carthage 4-3 (Wheaton, Augie, Elmhurst)
Millikin 2-5 (Wins against IWU and NPU)
IWU 1-6 (Gets lone win against lowly NPU)
NPU 0-7

I do know that Rocky had offers to play at Boise State.  So they most likely are brothers.

I remember the days of the old Wheaton pressbox - wind creeping through the cracks in the wall and more flies around than at a stable.  Then there was the setting sun causing some havoc with the 25 second clock...

Replays on the scoreboard?  Fieldturf?  Winning the CCIW?

My how times have changed.  I'm starting to feel as old as Prikkel.

Is anyone else surprised that the NCAA allows a scoreboard with game replay capability?  I would think it could really create chaos if it clearly shows a blown call by the refs.  Imagine a fumble by Wheaton on Oct 13 at McCully,  and the ball being awarded to Augie when the replay clearly shows the ball was knocked loose by the ground...Something to think about!
Looking forward to seeing my Vikes play in Bloomington this Saturday.  Hoping we can hang on to the ball and put some long drives together.  I feel we'll have to throw the ball as well, as that tough Titan D will be stacked at the line.  I expect a low scoring affair similar to last year.  IWU's defense may be one of the top 2 in the conference.  Here's hoping we can win the turnover battle and survive Norm Eash's (spelling?) special team's trickery!!!      GO VIKINGS...LET"S GET THE WIN IN BLOOMINGTON!!!
     My picks for Saturday..............................................................................
                                                  Augustana over IWU
                                                  Wheaton over Millikin
                                                  North Central over North Park
                                                  Elmhurst over Carthage
