Trying to get stats on the North Central/North Park game.  Website seems to be down or it is not recognized?

I see Ittersagen had another 12 tackles today along with 4 pass break ups.  Anyone at the game that can tell me why are they even throwing at him 4 times?  Were those stats inflated?  I would guess that going away from him would be a better idea, but that is an observation that most anyone could make.

Millikin threw 46 passes and usually the one-on-one coverage was on his side, so they had to throw over there at least a little bit.  The guy he was on most of the game only had 5 catches, but they threw his way probably close to 15 times, if not more.

Augustana 5

Augustana hits a field goal early, then the Titans have a punt snap go over the head of the punter for a safety for the third time this year.

I was not impressed by Wheaton offensively at all.  Jackson had a huge game, but the overall offense looked lost.  They made the one big play, but they seemed to be determined to allow Millikin to stay with them.  Kudos to Millikin for playing tough all day.

The other thing that has me concerned is the defense vs. shifty quarterbacks.  They seem to be able to run at will against the Thunder, both the Albion QB and Justin Levingson today kept several drives going simply with the run.  This causes me concern vs. Augustana in 2 weeks.

Sean Norris did an excellent job punting today.  The punt late in the first half downed deep in Big Blue territory set up the safety and indirectly the subsequent TD.  Kudos to the punt team.

Minter from Millikin was down for several minutes after a hard hit by the Wheaton defense.  He looked really shaky while walking off the field under his own power.  I hope that he is ok.

Augustana gets a TD pass and the 2pt conversion, but the Titans answer back with a 57yd TD run by freshman Bo Lanter.

NC Stats are up

North Park outgains NC offensively  428 yds to 394 yds

Not sure what is more depressing...
NC couldnt hold North Park under 400 yards...or...NC couldnt go 1200 feet vs. North Park in a football game.

NPU also had more first downs than did NCC, 20-19. The big difference in the game was turnovers; North Park lost three fumbles, threw two interceptions, and gave up two points on a two-point conversion INT that the Cards took to the house the other way (and which did not count as an interception in the stats). North Central, by contrast, didn't turn the ball over all day.

As I suspected, Dominic Sulo ran for 208 yards on 31 carries for the Redbirds. And NPU's Kelvyn West had 144 yards rushing on 28 carries. But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention North Park sophomore wideout Chris Durr, who caught three touchdown passes and a two-point conversion. He really impressed me today.

Augustana tacked on a FG before the end of the first half and then fumbled away the opening kickoff of the second half.  The Vikings held IWU to a field goal attempt, but a roughing the kicker penalty keeps the drive alive for the Titans.  Bo Lanter finished the drive with a 3yd TD run for IWU.

Nice...1200 Feet = 399.96 Yards.

Today was the first time I have ever stayed through an entired NPU football game, except for a few times I watched relatives play.

I really enjoyed myself and look forward to watching a few more games this year.  I believe Pehtel has the program on track and who knows what can happen in a few years once he gets through more recruiting cycles.

Considering this was his first real recruiting year, I think he's done quite a nice job.

Augustana downs a punt inside the IWU 2yd line.  The Titans proceed to march down on a 15 play, 98yd TD drive on the shoulders of two BIG 3rd down conversion runs by Bo Lanter and finished with a 13yd TD pass to Martin Ceisel on 4th down.  The 2pt conversion is also good to give IWU a 3pt lead.

Glad to see one of the Wheaton LB's is back.  Can someone update me on the overall injury situation for the Thunder?  Which key players (expected starters) are out, and for how long?  I know the QB is.  Having trouble keeping track of the OL and LB situations, in particular.

Is Swider rotating/shading the secondary toward the side of the field not patrolled by Ittersagen?  I know teams with a stud CB sometimes do that, the way teams used Deion Sanders back in the day and here locally (for me), Virginia Tech's DC Bud Foster often does this when he has a stud at CB - forcing the offense to choose between throwing to a heavily defended side of the field, or to the less defended side of the field which has the star DB patrolling it.  This often results in more throws at the star DB than you would otherwise expect.

Definitely.  If I had the ability, I would have shown you some K-lovin'.

I strongly doubt the stats are inflated... I've been surprise how much teams have been throwing to Ittersagens side all year.

One other stat I'm not too thrilled with... Wheaton QB's were sacked 7 times today.  Not good at all.

from CCIW website...

PASSES DEFENDED    Team Cl  G Brup  Int Total Avg/G
---------------------------------------------------
1. Ittersagen, P.. WHEA JR  3    7    3    10  3.33
2. Langs, Tyler... WHEA SO  3    4    1     5  1.67
    Paul, Dane..... ELMH FR  3    2    3     5  1.67
4. Estell, JR..... NPU  JR  3    3    1     4  1.33
    Lynch, Billy... AUGI JR  3    4    0     4  1.33
    Weil, Josh..... NCC  SR  3    2    2     4  1.33
7. Maple, Kyle.... ELMH SR  3    2    1     3  1.00

    Slette, Mark... AUGI SR  3    1    2     3  1.00

This was as of last weeks game...

Those are impressive numbers.  All-american numbers I would say.  Add 4 pass breakups to that stat.

Is Studebaker seeing double or triple teams this year?

Augustana fakes a punt and picks up 22yds into Titan territory.  IWU holds the Vikings to another 4th down and Augustana tries another fake punt which is not successful.  Titans complete a 15 yd pass to Ceisel for a first down.
