I think the NC/IWU game boils down to focusing on 3 players.
Fanthorpe, Dunlop, and Ciesel.  If Fanthorpe has a game like he had in the second half of the EC/NC game,  I think he has the tools to lead NC to a close, second half win.
If Dunlop is able to run wild and Ceisel is moving the ball on his quick 10 yard outs,  I think IWU can really overpower NC on offense.
Should be a great game similar to the NC/Wheaton game earlier this year.

If I were an NCC fan, which I clearly am not, I wouldn't worry too much about Dunlop running wild.  NCC is always able to put a good run stopping D on the field, and Dunlop is certainly no powerhouse back.

Prior to last seasons' Wheaton-Weslyan game, Dunlop  remarked in the Bloomington Pantagraph on Wheaton's run stopping abilities saying "wait until the he and the Titans roll into town."  13 carries 47 yds later, he and they, 18 carries 12 yds. later "rolled" over in a 49-14 loss.

Obviously, I don't like comments like that, and I always look forward to a Green Weenie loss. This is one where I will be rooting for NCC.

Enjoy it birds... this is the one game Wheaton fans will be on your side this season.

SoT,

Wow!  A year later you're still fuming over one kid's overconfident 'trash-talk' to his local paper, so in return you 'trash' the whole team with that tired 'Green Weenie' slur ???  You must have been a real card on the grade school playground. :o

Or maybe you still can't get over 2005? :-*

Quote from: usee on October 28, 2007, 08:39:55 AMFor those of you trying to speculate on the impact this has on the Titans down the stretch look no further than Carthage of 2004. Carthage beat NPU in Chicago 13-0 that day scoring NO offensive touchdowns and coming from behind in the second half to defeat a 1-9 NPU team. That Carthage team beat Wheaton in Kenosha the next week 39-21, secured the AQ and took Mt Union into the 4th quarter in Alliance before succumbing to the purple people eaters.

This game for IWU means NOTHING other than they are 5-0 in conference.

Well put, usee, and that's an apt illustration to prove your point. Just one question, though: How do you come from behind to win 13-0? :D

Greg, I am surprised you didn't correct my typo. the score of that game was 13-10.  :P

It's because I trust your expertise so much that I never double-check your handiwork. ;)

Finally... some bickering between the Weslayans and the Wheaties... all is right in the world!

Green Weenie never gets old!!  ;D  I'm not going into another rant on Norm, but I think that a lot of the comments that come out like that from the players, come from the attitude at the top of the program!  I love Green Weenie week!

I will be the first to tell you that I do not like Norm Eash, HOWEVER... I think you have to give him a pat on the back and kudos to Norm this year and his Titans who are still fighting with Wheaton for a CCIW title, which nobody gave IWU a chance at in August.

I don't know Norm Eash and have not defended him (and have even previously apologized if even half the complaints about him are true).  However, if IWU wins EITHER of their last two games, he is very probably COY; if they win BOTH, he is a lock to win unanimously.  THAT prospect should drive a number of posters nuts! :o ;D

Enjoy it while we're down, Jim - we'll be back! ;D  Probably not this year (though I recall being about the only one with faith in the "Baby Titans" of 2004!), but we WILL be back! ;)

I am not sure if this is from this past weekend or not but it might be one of the greatest (craziest) plays in the history of college football!

Yes, it happened saturday when Trinity Tx beat Milsaps on the last play of the game. It is featured on the front page in the daily dose and on the various South region message boards if you want to read more about it.

Very Cal/Stanford like.
This was a 62 second play that is a marathon in football play terms. (average play lasting what 6-8 seconds)  no wonder the Millsaps players were either on their knees or backs after this play.   It did look like one of the laterals near the middle (7th or 8th) was close to being forward but loved the bounce pass to finish it off.

... another Randolph-Macon College and Pedro Arruza update...

Head Coach Arruze has lead the fightin' yellowjackets to a 7-1 overall record (4-0 in conference).  This follows 2 straight seasons of 2-8 records (0-6 in conference)... that's one heck of a turn-around in one season despite what happens that last 2 games.

RMC has Bridgewater and Hampden-Sydney remaining on the schedule... both very tough games...

Not to many Norm fans in the CCIW, huh? Dare I ask why? I heard a few things from one person, but was wondering if the feelings were consistent throughout the conference.
