IWU (Greenie Weenies) vs. NCC "Cardinals" "Color Analogy"

Life and Renewal: Green is life. Abundant in nature, green signifies growth, renewal, health, and environment. On the flip side, green is jealousy or envy (green-eyed monster) and inexperience.

Nature of Green: Green is a restful color with some of the same calming attributes of blue. Like blue, time moves faster in a green room.
Culture of Green: Green is the national color of Ireland and is strongly associated with that country. Green also has close associations with Islam. Because of all the green in nature the color is reminiscent of Spring. Coupled with red it's a Christmas color.

Good green
•   Green light - go, permission to proceed (with a task)
•   The green room - in theater or televisions it is the room where performers and guests go to relax
•   Green thumb - good with plants
•   Greenback - US dollar bill, money
•   Greener pastures - something newer or better (or perceived to be better), such as a new job

Bad green
•   Green-eyed monster - jealosy
•   Green with envy - jealous or envious
•   Green - inexperienced, untested, untrained
•   Greenhorn - novice, trainee, beginner
•   Green around the gills - pale, sickly

Culture of Red: Red is power, hence the red power tie for business people and the red carpet for celebrities and VIPs (very important people).

Good red
•   Red letter day - important or significant occasion
•   Red carpet treatment - make someone feel special, treat them as if they are a celebrity
•   Roll out the red carpet - same as above
•   Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning; red sky at night, sailor's delight - pay attention to good and bad warning signs
•   Paint the town red - celebrate, go out partying
•   Red eye - an overnight flight

Bad red
•   Seeing red - to be angry
•   Red herring - something that deceives or distracts attention from the truth
•   In the red - being overdrawn at the bank or losing money
•   Red flag - denotes danger, warning, or an impending battle

WHO'S GONNA WIN THIS ONE?????????

Very nice. you did miss the reference to the Grinch who stole Christmas vs Santa Claus. Also, the popular Sammy Hagaar song called "Red" (....Red, Red, I want Red, green ain't mean compared to Red...)  ;D

IWU Green/White Green Mts.- Vermont  White Mts. New Hampshire, very picturesque pretty part of the country.

Comet14 I can't believe you!  You would choose eats/drinks/babes/ and sun over an Elmhurst Football Game?  :o   :P

Historically, Millikin has owned the series vs. EC but lately the Bluejays have been competitive and SHOULD HAVE won 2 in a row.  Should be a great game in Decatur.

Actually it was the Grinch vs. Whoville, but they wore red outfits on Christmas so we'll give you a pass, usee.   ;)

Mr. Ypsi:

Here is some trivia I thought you might be interested in.  Although we have talked about this in the past, I still appreciate your opinions and insight into this as things progress (uh, ?regress) monthly and into the future. ;D

I saw where your Eastern Michigan's home game attendance at Rynearson Stadium so far this season is as follows:

5794 for Ball State University
10,141 for Howard University
10,000 for Northwestern (at Ford Field)
7002 for Western Michigan

Total so far is 32,934 for an average of 8,233

In comparison, Hope College has averaged just under 4,000 per home games this season (3,982) and played before just under 3,000 for their away games.  The former includes the last home game where only 1850 in attendance, which I attribute to the bad weather.  Anyway, if you wouldn't mind giving your opinion (and "guesstimate") as to what Eastern is going to do about this, it would again be appreciated and interesting.  How are they going to meet the DI attendance requirements, and for that matter, how are the other MAC schools going to do this.  While I have not taken the time to add up the attendance figures for the other MAC schools, with the exception of a few (very few most likely), I don't think the other MAC schools meet those requirements either.  You mentioned before about Eastern's "creative promotions" with various corporations to meet that in the past.  I forgot what the "new" revised NCAA paramenters are for DI attendance qualifications, but I recall you or someone mentioned it was lowered to 16,000 for at least one season out of every third one (and with the 30,000 seat stadium requirement still in existance?).  If only one season of a minimum attendance figure is required, I can see Eastern and the other MAC schools being able to achieve that, however, if not, I think the MAC would be in danger of retaining its DI status.  Just curious as to what you and others think.  Maybe Eastern should just play all away games ;D, although that would be cheating its students!

BTW, what is your prediction for them this week against Toledo?  The way Toledo has been playing and with Eastern's victory over Western last week, I would think they would have a good chance at beating Toledo.

Mr. Ypsi

d3db,

I'll PM you with a more detailed reply, but while the MIAA board MIGHT tolerate an EMU discussion, I'm afraid these Chicago guys are gonna run us out of town! ;)

Short answer: I don't think they can pull it off.  Their 'creativity' lately consists of the Ford Field game (but Northwestern ain't gonna do it as an opponent to draw crowds in Detroit!) and flat-out fraud (doubling or tripling attendance figures, but they got caught, so now what?!)  I suspect they (and all but two or three other MAC teams) are destined for 1AA (or whatever they are calling it this week).  Either that or one heck of a lobbying effort with the NCAA! :D

Interestingly thought out Wags, but I think I would have categorized "Red eye flights" as BAD RED ;D

Mr. Ypsi:

Thanks for your PM.  I sent a reply back via PM.  (Yeah, I don't want any of our friends here on the CCIW board to get mad at us for "off topics"!  ;D ;)  Sorry guys.) Anyway, have a great weekend.

1) Augie/NPU is the most confident CCIW game.  Augie picked to win by 15 of 16, with 10 of you using a 4 confidence number.

2) Wheaton/Carthage is the next most confident pick.  Wheaton picked to win by 15 of 16, with 10 of 16 confidence numbers at 3 or 4.

3) I was mildly surprised by the slant towards North Central.  I thought the picks for the IWU/NCC game would have been closer a 65% to 35% split.

4) The Wheaton/Carthage and Augie/NPU games would have been clean sweeps -  minus redman04's complete break with reality and utter despairation picks.  ::)

Mr. Ypsi

Mugsy,

The NCC-IWU game would have been closer to 65-35% if that 'homer' Mr. Y hadn't chickened out! ;)  I even picked the Titans (with a disclaimer about head vs. heart) before switching; I figure we can lose tomorrow (God forbid, but it MAY happen!) and still win the AQ in the Bloomington showdown! ;D

I've kind of been away this season because of a new job, and I was just looking at the Mount Union season statistics. These are mind blowing. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would imagine this might be one of their best teams ever. No one has gotten within 35 points this season. They've outscored their opponents a combined 331-3 in the first half. If the math in my head is right, that's a 41-0 lead on average at the half. They've given up three touchdowns, two of which came in the fourth quarter - when I imagine the second/third/fourth team was playing.
They are averaging 555.1 yards per game. They have five guys who have rushed for at least 200 yards. They've got another four with at least 20 catches and 250 yards receiving.
I don't think anybody comes close to beating them this year. Looking at their past scores, Capital and Baldwin-Wallace hung with them in previous seasons, and Ohio Northern pulled the upset. Both Capital and B-W lost 37-0 and 35-0, respectively.
Wow.
