My North Region playoff projections heading into the final week ...

MIAA Champ (Olivet, Hope or Alma)
at Mount Union

Franklin
at Wheaton

Mt. St. Joseph/Capital
at Case Western Reserve

Concordia (Wis.)
at Wabash

I could make an argument for wheaton as anywhere between the 3-6 seed in this weeks regional rankings. What's the arguement to keep them a 4 seed ahead of franklin? franklin's 1 loss is to wabash the #2 seed. I think a lot could happen this week to shake the picture.

also, a 2 loss wheaton team has no chance at pool C even with a capital loss. You can't argue wheaton better than carthage as a 2 loss team? they won't get in ahead of MSJ who has a win over IWU already. besides all that I still think there is very little chance a 2 loss team makes the field. too many 1 loss teams have to get beat.

If IWU wins the AQ, it looks like this ...

MIAA Champ
at Mt. Union

6. IWU
at 4. Franklin

5. Mt. St. Joseph
at 3. Case Western Reserve

7. Concordia (Wis.)
at 2. Wabash

They wouldn't match Mt. St. Joseph and Franklin up because they're in the same conference

they usually seed them the way they want the matchups so it sets up round 2. so in this case I believe they might make franklin the 3 seed and match msj/case with winner going to alliance. IWU would play at franklin with winner at wabash.

Should not have set the clocks back this is way too late to be up and sober ;D

Thank you tg for some fun tonight say high to Caddy Vista for me.

Not so certain you were sober with a "high" reference. ;D

Yup I had trouble spelling "Hello",  sort of like porky pig stuttering to say something and then going with the simpler version, still no excuse for the Freudian. :D

Some great games to finish the season. On the matchups this weekend I'll post my thoughts:

NCC/Carthage:

I know everyone thinks this will now be a battle. I actually don't think it will. I think NCC wins this game easily. NCC will have a good plan for the Carthage pressure and I don't see the Carthage offense moving the ball much agains NCC. I think this game will have a fair amount of points scored and most of those will be the cardinal.

I like NCC as a 2 loss Pool C if it gets to that (which I don't think will happen).

Elmhurst/NPU-This is the game NPU must win IMO. I will likely draw the wrath of Sager but if they don't win this game and show some improvement in the win column they risk losing a coach. It may not be likely but guys w SP's pedigree have lots of options and they don't have a lot of patience waiting for improvement. 1 conference win is like a birdie on 18 to shoot 110....it keeps you comin back for more.

Augie/Millikin-otherwise known as the 'who cares' bowl. augie is fighting to not have a losing record and Millikin is trying to get another conference win.

Check out this weeks Around the Nation podcast.  If you thought the CCIW tiebreaker situation was confusing, it's child's play compared to the MIAA, Liberty League, and others.

NC/Carthage

I think the Carthage rushing defense shuts down Sulo, but I think Fanthorpe becomes the key ingredient for the NC offense.  I think this game stays low scoring with a 13-10 17-14 score either way.  Tough to cal this one.
Millikin/Augie at one time was a battle for the CCIW title.  AC is slumping and Millikin is looking for consistency, I still like Augie at home
EC/NPU   not going to be close.  Elmhurst showed some poise coming from behind last week in Decatur.  Elmhurst picks up win #6 on Senior Day.
WC/IWU  this is a great game.  As much as I like Wheaton and don't favor IWU, I am thinking IWU sneaks out this game because their defense steps up.  Ceisel and Dunlop are tough to stop, and Wheaton is still not 100% healthy.
Course, this is why I am not a forecaster and anything could happen.

Fixed in the original post and here. You'll be green again if you try it in the midst of the other posts as I don't have the power to modify other's posts.

This is all but a guarantee that the over on the points will win this game!  ;D ;)
