Pat, congrats on the move to ESPN U... It seams like that would be able to reach a larger crowd!!!
A good move for D3 Football!

But on  personal note, I do not like the move because the dirty S.O.B's at Comcast do not carry ESPN U.  So I will have to keep looking on line for the selections, which isn't that bad.  However I always liked watching and hearing the breakdowns.    :'(

Ok, I'll start the debate....... I say Sulo and Fanthorpe are a two horse race for OPOY in the conference with Fanthorpe leading.   Any other possibilities?   Which other players are First team locks?  I will say that Wenger has had a great year at LB for the Cards and should be 1st team.   I don't know what the injuries to the Wheaton studs(Studebaker, Ittersagen) will do to their support among the coaches.  Ceisel is a lock at WR.  Moore from Carthage is a lock for D 1st team and punter probably.  Can't wait to see him graduate!  What an impact player he has been!  Coach of the year?  If Wheaton wins on Saturday, it should be Swider again with all of the injuries they have had.  Thorne should get some consideration and Eash(much as it pains me) as well.  Let the debate begin!

Thanks. I actually don't think it's larger -- ESPNews is in 50 million homes and ESPNU is in 20 million, but it's better than not being on TV, which is how it was until 2003.

I'm actually really excited to watch it since this will be the first year I can actually watch it.  Previously always had something going on.

It's always dangerous when you have two guys from the same team that can be considered as POY, they sometimes split the votes and another guy slips in.  Right now I don't see anybody as deserving as those two on the offensive side of the ball, but strange things can sometimes happen.

I agree with you there, but I really think that Fanthorpe will be the guy when the coaches look at it.  He has really come through in a tough spot following in Kam's footsteps and then fighting off his brother for the starting spot and really adding another dimension to the NCC offense with his ability to run the football.

For the IWU/Wheaton matchup I think this will come down to the IWU defense against the Wheaton offense. I am very concerned that wheaton's OLine will be completely overwhelmed by this Titan defensive front. If the Carthage game is any indication....Wheaton is in trouble. Norris cannot get hit 15-20 times in this game if Wheaton wants to 1-still have a viable quarterback 2-move the football. I don't think the Wheaton running game scares anyone and the protection problems are now 9 games old. this will be the best defensive front the Thunder have seen all year.  I hope through turnovers, field position or special teams big plays the offense can muster enough to get some points.

Usee, I think you can run on the IWU defense.

I don't know -- I think USee doesn't have the burst he used to. :)

OK got me on that one!  HA!

But, I did recently read an article about a local RB that runs in the 4.9 40 range but was considered "football fast" so usee you could still be "football fast!"

I am "couch fast" myself!

I would put Martin Ceisel in the conversation because he has had such a huge impact on his team and no one has stopped him. That said I think it comes down to an NCC player. My vote would be Sulo because his impact is why fanthorpe can run the ball. Without Sulo, who everyone tries to stop, fanthorpe isn't nearly as good a runner. And fanthorpes passing numbers are not that impressive. It will likely be one of those two though.

I would be pretty surprised if it wasn't him. There isn't another player in this league that has consistently made the impact he has made. Other players have been dominant at times and had very productive seasons--wenger, donavan moore, several players on IWU's defense, even maple from elmhurst, but Ittersage is in another league in my opinion.

Both North Central and IWU played a very hard fought game, and obviously NCC made more plays and did what they had to do. There is a large amount of talent on both the teams and it showed during the game. The thing that stood out most to me however was the lack of sportsmanship shown by the NCC team. Obviously this was an intense game and emotions were flying and people get caught up in the game, that stuff is to be expected. There were a number of times however when a NCC player would make a good play and continued to taunt an IWU player after the play. For example, after converting a long first down run Fanthorpe got up and flipped the ball down to the IWU player who made the tackle and taunted him. Also Bo Osburn injured his arm in the first half and was in some pretty intense pain but continued to play during the second half, but was jeered at by the NCC players even after the game was over and the teams were shaking hands as they called him some pretty disrespectful names that I won't repeat here. There were also jeers from fans as the IWU team was walking to their locker room after the game.  In my opinion NCC showed the least amount of class and sportsmanship of any team thus far in the conference. The CCIW is supposed to be a high-class conference and each team should be showing the proper respect for the other teams in the conference. However it may happen I really hope that NCC does not get a big to the playoffs because I would be ashamed to have that type of play representing the CCIW. It is a real shame that such a good team is overshadowed by a classless attitude. And shame on an IWU grad for allowing that type of behavior from his team.

As a Wheaton fan this is an obvious choice, but if you havent seen Ittersagen play on a consistent basis, you might be inclined to think otherwise.  Most NC followers and fans after watching Wenger make all the plays he has this year would lobby for him.  I have seen them both play a few games, probably a toss up with Ittersagen getting the nod because of the impact he has on special teams AND assuming the Thunder makes the playoffs, he becomes the Best player on the Best team.

OPOY-
I think Fanthorpe has the lead right now, and really dont see that changing in the final week..unless Ceisel busts out for 10 catches, 150 yards and a touchdown and IWU gets the automatic bid
