Wheaton is playing hard to avoid the playoffs.  Where are the big stops on defense?

They've made them for 3 quarters... but the offense isn't doing them any favors.  IWU offense has been on the field all day.

iwu qb is something like 17 for 40 passing.

Too bad the officials screwed up the Wheaton INT in the first half that led to a IWU field goal.  Otherwise it would be 15-14 right now and a FG would win it.

Now Wheaton needs a TD to win...

Wheaton defense has just been on the field so long... come on Wheaton patch work offense.

Go IWU!!!

Final:

Elmhurst 24
North Park 14

File this one under "horseshoes and hand grenades" for the Park.

Mr. Ypsi

Loved a line by the color guy: when we were down, 8 minutes seemed like time was a real problem. With a lead, 4:47 seems like forever!

That was a great line. Kudos to IWU on a great season. Looks like NC/IWU co-champs.

Not looking good.  Another IWU first down on some broken tackles.  Defense is spent.

In the most meaningless season finale in the last 30 years, Augie beat Millikin 44-7. Congrats to IWU for exceeding all expectations. It looks like Titan FB is back.

It's looking a little less slim now for NCC ...

Bethel beats st. johns. not good for any pool C hopefuls

Very true.  Bethel takes the AQ and SJU is an absolute lock to 'steal' a C slot.  IF NCC had a 'slim' chance, it just got impossibly slim!

Elmhurst had the upper hand in terms of offenses over NPU; the Bluejays outgained the Vikings, 389-199, and had 26 first downs to NPU's 12. The reason why the Vikings apparently led the game until the last eleven minutes of the fourth quarter was because they took advantage of their opportunities; a Geoffrey Montgomery interception brought the ball to the EC 14, leading to an eight-yard TD pass from Shelby Wood to Chris Durr, and freshman B.J. Chandler ran back the kickoff 75 yards for a TD after Elmhurst's first touchdown, giving the Vikes a 14-10 halftime lead. That, and what looks like a good effort by the undermanned Vikings defense to keep the Bluejays out of the endzone until the dam broke in the fourth quarter.

Two games in a row where Wheaton was outplayed.  I can't remember that happening in years.

Congrats to Illinois Wesleyan on a great come back season.

Congrats to IWU on a hard fought win and improbable CCIW championship.

My heart goes out to the Wheaton team and staff who gave their all despite huge adversity... but it was too much to overcome in the end.

I really wish they could have at least taken a co-championship home...

Best of luck to NCC in the playoffs.  Represent the CCIW well.

Congratulations IWU and their fans for a conference championship performance. You guys deserved to win. Dunlop was a man today and the defense was as good as advertised. Coach Eash has my vote for COY!

Is the Wheaton game over or is there still time left on the clock?
