New Tradition,
You must be on Cloud nine after an NC victory, coupled with GBN's upset of Mount Carmel.

Side note:  3 teams from the DVC will be participating in this weeks IHSA state football championships:
Glenbard north vs. naperville north (8A)
Wheaton Warrenville South in the 7A title game

You're tellin me!!!!!!  Wow!!!! What a great football day.  Just stopped home to change clothes and check d3.com before I head out to celebrate.  My only regret is that I couldn't split myself in 2 to go watch what sounds like one ridiculously entertaining football game.  Coach Thorne always did say that our number 1 goal as players is to entertain the fans!
I am a NATIONAL Champion, and I refuse to lose!

2015 CCIW Pickem Champ
2015 WIAC Playoff Pickem Champ

And a coach in another conference told me to discount WWHS being undefeated in the regular season because the DVC was overrated and this was a down year for them ...

What a GREAT football game to watch. Believe me Franklin IS a very good football team. And, Chad Rupp is the real deal. He is truely a fantastic qb. He can throw the ball on a rope easily 50 yds and is great at finding the open receiver. Many times, NCC had them 2nd or 3rd and long and he converted. He had NCC's defense on their heels the entire 1st half. In the second half, NCC put on a lot more pressure. He got hit a bunch and I believe sacked four times.
Whoever posted the question of Franklin's conditioning because of their blowouts was 100% correct. They were sucking a lot of air and getting up slowly in the 4th quarter.
Also, before the game, we (some fans) were discussing how Franklin would react if they were down and in a tight game since they apparently weren't used to that. We witnessed the result of that!
After the game, the Franklin players and fans were gracious in their defeat. Very classy. I can't say the same for the diesel air horn blasts that they were sounding in the 4th quarter from JUST outside the stadium when NCC had the ball. Or, the house full of students that berated our team as they had to walk by them on the way to the field........but, overall very classy.
In an earlier post, someone mentioned that the WONC announcers were not happy with the officials. I will say, it sure seemed one sided. I can't tell you how many holding calls  NCC got. Franklin got MAYBE one with all the passing they did. Our guys were getting tackled in the backfield with no calls. On one play, one of our o lineman was thrown to the ground by the face mask, in front of the ref in our backfield with no call. The officials tried pulling all the calls out of the bag on us today.
Enough of the officiating!! Congrats to the Cards on a GREAT victory. Congrats to Franklin on a hard fought game and a great season. According to some of your fans, you are not losing many starters to graduation. You will be back!

I have seen Franklin vs Wabash this year and NCC vs Wheaton game.....

NCC will beat Franklin.....

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS

there you go! You can put it on the board! Thanks DadOBW! an impartial opinion. previously all we had were those of us who saw wabash scrimmage wheaton and then saw wheaton play NCC. Now we have the fan from the grassy knoll.

;D

As expected....NCC won......yet....NCC now has great respect for Franklin

The grassy knoll keeps me impartial....

NCC will have its hands full up at whitewater next saturday. They will face one of the  premiere running backs in d3 in Justin Beaver who is averaging 160 yds per game. UWW has a big, physical defense and very atheletic lbs. I saw them play last year up at UWW. Its a great facility to see a game, definately one of the best in D3. You will need all your horses up there. Hopefully sulo is back and welch is at full strength.

Sulo is supposed to be back on Saturday. Not sure about Welch.

I see that UWW has a grass playing surface. I hope NCC buys different shoes for their players. Today's game at Franklin was NCC's first game on grass this year. In their turf shoes, our backs and receivers slipped and fell several times on potential big plays.

In today's Tribune, there is a story listing players in Illinois who will probably be drafted by the NFL.  It is at:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-071117pompeiscout,1,2762876.htmlstory

Coming in at #4 -
4. Andrew Studebacker (sic), DE, Wheaton College. Has an NFL body, measurables and 30 career sacks, but an injury limited him to five games this season. Probably is a 4-3 defensive end, but might be able to play linebacker in a 3-4. Could be drafted in the fifth-round range.

The Tribune mispelled his name.

Thats pretty good press for Studebaker.  It would be interesting hearing his name on draft day.

Maybe we wil hear Stuart Scott mention him again:

I don't know the nature of Studebaker's surgery, but the combine is early march, that's 3 months away. If he doesn't play in any allstar games and can't go to the combine, it will be tough for him to get drafted I would think.

I should add that physically he is as talented as any lineman at any level and has the qualities you would want in a draft pick. He is behind the 8 ball coming from d3 and being hurt most of his sr yr. Someone will take a shot on him but it will be tough in the draft if he doesn't recover quicklyl enough to work out for NFL teams prior to april draft.

hello to all, just wondering what UWW can expect from NCC next game..
