Congrats to NCC on a great showing against the Hawks on Saturday.  They gave them all they could handle for awhile.  Very impressed with your young QB.  Your fans traveled very well.  Enjoyed the company of many of them at the tailgate and several showed a lot of class in wishing the Hawks well afterwards.  Congrats on a great season.  The Cards and their fans should be very proud!  Enjoyed the talk during the week with you all.  As was pointed out to me by someone, the CCIW/WIAC match-up convo was a lot better than the usual trash talk that tends to show up.  Good luck to your team next season.

fbf413,

You are a classy guy and we welcome your conversation any time!  Good luck to the Hawks the rest of the way!  Hopefully, our teams meet up again down the road!

I know I'm a bit late but I wanted to stop by and congratulate NCC on their season and compliment them on well they traveled.  That was one of the larger visiting fan groups that we've seen this year.   Like 413 I liked your quarterback.  We had problems containing him particularly in the first half.  I also thought the nose guard was a stud.  He gave us a lot of problems and despite being double teamed managed to  hold his ground.

Good luck in the future.

I logged on to put in my two cents. But it looks like other UWW fans already beat me to the punch and congratulated you. I was very impressed with the amount of NCC fans there. I don't think I never saw the opponents bleachers that packed before at Perkins Stadium. I was very impressed with NCC's offense (and defensive line). i never saw a team pass (and run at times) the ball up and down Whitewater's defense that much in long while. Your soph QB is a stud, and hope his success continues.

Sorry if other UWW fans on the WIAC insulted anyone, they can be kind of arragent sometimes.

I'm originally from Lombard (but went to UWW) so it was kinda nice seeing Whiewater play a local team from back home, along with seeing my fellow Bears fans come up for the game. I love that you guys brought you Bear paraphernalia. Hester's the best!!!

good luck to NCC next season.

I can't believe the score ended up the way it did, but UWW really pounced on the NCC mistakes!  Beaver is the real deal!  I'm not completely sold on the UWW defense, but they are physical up front!  Cards should be proud of the effort to get back in the game after being down 21-0.   Hopefully the experience of playing this type of game, helps us down the line.  I really feel that NCC will be back next year as the team to beat in the CCIW!  With Fanthorpe and Sulo back on offense along with Macintosh, Welch and Hlavac at WR's, the Cards should be solid on O.  Defensively, Wenger, Sulo, Schneiderbauer and Venier is a pretty good nucleus to come back with as well.  The best part is most of those guys are only sophomores or younger!  I hate to be sitting here talking about next year, but the future Cards will hopefully keep this momentum going to the off-season.  Recruiting should receive a serious boost with another playoff appearance and back to back conference co-champions.

Cardinalalum - I agree with you on all points. I never thought that UWW would have scored that many points on us. Beaver is the real deal.....however, A LOT of credit has to go to his o - line. Many of his yards came on runs where he was untouched. Huge holes were there for him to get to the second level. He is explosive. When the holes weren't there, he did not break too many of our tackles. Like you said, we should be very strong next year........can't wait!!!!!!!

This game sure took a quick turn for the worst for NCC. Going into the 4th qtr NCC had the Warhalks on their heels and looked like they would pull off a shocker. In the blink of an eye UWW made the score look lop-sided. I don't think UWW had any sustained scoring drives all day. They scored on big Beaver runs, a long TD pass and 2 interceptions returned for scores. To many mistakes by NCC to beat a quality opponent like UWW.

Tailgator - You hit the nail right on the head. Mistakes and big plays were the tale of this game. Overall, the Cardinal D played a tough game. As you said, no sustained drives....all BIG plays and the two pick 6's!!!

BTW: in a completely unrelated topic, the Wheaton women's soccer team won their 3rd national championship in 4 years today.  They have won 45 games in a row and 97 of their last 103 games!  Impressive no matter what sport you play, no matter what the level...  An amazing accomplishment.

I saw this in the newspaper. VERY impressive. Congrats to them!

footballfan413 - Thanks for the hospitality. We enjoyed our time in Whitewater (except for the L, of course).

This clip on Studebaker from Wheaton was probably posted a while ago, but I just saw it now and was impressed.

Do you think any of these guys have a chance to play after college?  Besides Studebaker, has anyone else got any looks in our conference?

Pat,
Still unsure of the Pickems and why all my picks arent showing up.
Go Cards

Maybe Moore as a punter, not sure if he is fast enough to play DB???  Not sure if Verhelst is big enough???
