IWU Coach Norm is to CCIW FB as Augie Coach GG is to CCIW BB. Both are successful coachs, who are almost unanimously disliked by the fans of the other CCIW teams. As long as their players respect and give it their all for them, which I think is the case, what the rest of us think is not too important.

I know who the new DC for Carthage is, and I could not be more excited for the REDMEN.

That's pretty spot on augiefan.  I think both wear their emotions and passions on their sleeve so much that it is easily perceived as being arrogant and obnoxious.  Again, I believe for the most part, it's not really who Norm is, but I do understood how from the outside looking in it gets perceived that way.  I think he is just so insulated if you will in his IWU world, that he doesn't really understand how he's perceived outside of B-N.  All the criticism that he takes and the whole green weenie thing, he takes very personally and it really bothers him, hence he probably says some things that maybe it would be best to either let go or be more judicious about.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

Hey all,
It's been quite a while (Fall).

Any news on North Central's recruiting class? I've checked back a few pages, I don't know if my eyes can take more staring at a computer screen...8 hrs a day at work is a strain.

I hope all is well with everyone affiliated with this board (as well as their families). I'm going to make a concerted effort to get back into the D3sports.com forum world...I know you all have missed me dearly.
You win! You always do!

In the month of May the VFW distributes Buddy Poppies.  Please take time to give a dollar and take a poppy.  The proceeds of this go to aid the Disabled Vets

In Flander's Field
by John McCrae
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead.
Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie,
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw,
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us, who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders Fields.

All anyone has to do is watch "The War" by Ken Burns that has been on PBS stations to try to even understand what men went through in WWII.    Flanders Field I believe was referring to WWI which was a horrific war.  Korea, Vietnam and now Iraq, Afghanistan........ My Dad was a WWII vet and always bought a Poppy and I always buy a Poppy to salute him.

I was sent this recently by a friend whose son just returned safely from Iraq.  I usually go up and chat with the young men and women, but I think this is a great thing......

I have not heard the name just that he has been selected.  There is only 1 week of school left so I imagine there will be a lot of communication in the next couple weeks plus some meetings over the summer.  Not sure on the scheme but I sure hope we can cover the deep ball better than last year, seems we got burned quite a bit.

Redmen96 says he knows him and says he is excited for the Redmen.  We will see.

Carthage Fan, you are correct, Flanders Field is WWI, the war to end all wars.

The link I have on the post with the poem directs you to the VFW site where the Poppy is explained.

Flanders Fields actually refers to a country that did not exist anymore by the time WWI was fought, but would be found on the border between France and Belgium.  The fighting that took place in what was Flanders is the Battle of the Ypres salient, as well as the Battle of the Somme.  And as far as WWI being horrific, aside from pushing the soldiers to the limits of their sanity by forcing them into the most unbearable conditions that troops have faced for an extended period of time in history (read Eye Deep in Hell, its incredible what these troops went through), the casualty figures were astronomical.  WWI resulted in the deaths of 20 million soldiers; the same as WWII, but they occurred in a shorter amount of time during WWI.
