USA Today Sports Weekly scheduled for release on Monday has 2 CCIW teams in its preseason top 25 (for whatever that is worth).

North Central is 8th and Wheaton is 18th.

Pete Ittersagen is one of five players listed as "Players to Watch in DIII football".

Well, for the past three years that preseason ranking has been put together by either me or Keith McMillan, so at least it has some knowledge behind it.

If you are hurting for space, why not remove all posts from North Central posters.  They are all but meaningless anyway... particularly CardinalAlum.   :P ;D ;)

My first sideways look of the summer from my admin as I laughed out loud at the computer!  Nicely done!!  :D

Was that before or after you refreshed the score from the Sox game?

I'm surprised you guys have North Central so high.  I would have figured you'd have them in the bottom half.

Perhaps, but I think in most years the champion of the CCIW is a top 10 team. Plus I think you could identify question marks for pretty much every team at this point of the season.

If NCC had responded to my request for info I'd be able to give more specifics.

They probabaly like it better this way.  :)

Then I take back my "for what it's worth" comment.  I assumed this was another one of the preseason lists created by someone with extremely little knowledge of D3 sports.

This preseason poll has much more validity then.  Forgive my careless comment.

I don't think NCC is a top 10 team to start the season. While they will have tremendous skill players back on offense and arguably the best LB in the league returning on defense, the questions on the offensive and defensive front leave some serious unanswered questions. You need look no further than wheaton 07 to see what the impact of patchwork offensive line is on a season. NCC could be a top 10 team but I wouldn't start them there. I also think the difference between Wheaton and NCC to start the year is not very big. I agree with Wheaton at #18. I would have picked NCC around #15 or so.

Of course that's in a vacuum, not knowing the issues with other teams that would be ranked similarly.

Thought I'd post a little FYI.  Today a team of 12 guys, 9 from NCC, 1 from Bethel,
1 from Luther, and 2 from Benedictine, played the top Irish football team in Dublin.
This team is made up of recent grads and guys who haven't played in years.  It was a trip they just wanted to make.  They didn't practise, had no plays, and all had to play both ways.  On the first play of the game, 2 time all American Tyke Spenser, grad from NCC blew out his knee. Despite that, the team went on to post a 66 to 8 win.  Just thought this might be of interest to some of you CCIW fans.

GUINNESS ALL AROUND!   Boys, visit the Dame Tavern in Temple Bar...it's a hole in the wall, but has the best tasting Guinness in Dublin and some of the best music.  Declan plays on Thursday nights.   Slainte!

Boy, there's an oxymoron if I've ever seen one. Guinness is the world's most overrated beer. I can name a half-dozen porters and stouts that are better than Guinness.
