I am a Albion Fan

Anybody care to give me the lowdown on Milliken and the area.
Will be coming into town Friday night. Were do we eat and catch a Friday night game on the big screen?

Albion is young and improving, Junior and Sophmore dominated line-up on defense.
Fast on defense, good Dline 7-8 regulars in rotation, had a shutout last weekend.
Young on Oline, but has good size, fast RB whom had 160+ yards in a heavy rain last weekend. Ball control and ball security have been great no turnovers yet this season.
Offense is still developing, banged up team last year lead to worst season in memory. Only positive out of last season was the playing time for the sophmores whom are now starters as juniors this year.
Like to run first and control tempo of game. Solid kicking game.
Have already forced 4-5 fumbles so they like to get after it on defense.

Thanks maybe the MIAA can get a win or two as the CCIW has had the better of this non-conference mix lately.

D306-

Thanks for stopping by. Congratulations. Your presence here brings the grand total of posters posting about Millikin this season to 1. I don't know much about Millikin this year other than they beat Illiniois College 2 weeks ago and then laid an egg against Loras last Saturday. I have seen Albion as they played Wheaton the past 2 years and I saw both games. Albion has some good players. Millkin has a great WR and a solid defensive front. They are well coached but the talent level hasnt' been what it was in the late 90's. I picked Albion to win this weekend in the pickem's but what do I know? It could rain and everyone will fall down and nobody will win.

OK let's settle this once and for all....

1. Wheaton won, get over it,
2. Ittersagen is a stud, get over it,
3. Carthage put up 70 points...sorry just had to get that in!   ;)

a few predictions:

Carthage will not be the highest scoring team in the conference
Carthage won't score 70 again this season
Carthage will have at least 2 games where they score less than 20
Carthage better learn to play some defense or they won't win many conference games
Carthage may give up 70 to ittersagen

I realize these predictions were at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I'll comment anyway :D

#1 and #4 seem highly probable, #2 and #3 are fairly likely (especially #3; for #2, they DO play Millikin and NPU!), #5 I'm quite certain would utterly smash the NCAA record if it were to happen! ;D

Can't tell you anything about the Big Blue, but Lock Stock & Barrel (restaurant/bar) is a good place to watch a game.  It is just two blocks from campus...

http://www.lsb1.com/

There are several chain-type restaurants north of Decatur in Forsyth (maybe 10 minutes from campus)...a Cheddars, Texas Roadhouse, stuff like that.

I'm sure there are other spots, but I'm not a Decatur expert...and proud to say that.

Hey all,
Glad to see North Centralkick off the season with a quality win. I planned on attending, but it started sprinkling a bit and I don't like water so I stayed home and watched old front-butt battle Rich-Rod in a battle of schools that no sane person can stand.

Unfortunately, it didn't end with the stadium spontaneously combusting, like I had hoped. Ah to dream.
You win! You always do!

Wheaton got real lucky on that score.

Right, and I'm sure it was also by pure luck that he was named an All-American return man.

I do agree that it would have been nice to see such a great matchup played under better conditions, but a win is a win and bad weather, like it or not, is part of the game.

Did you watch the return?  The Bethel special team guys were falling down, unable to cut to make the tackle.  Nice return by our All American player, but there is no way that would have happened with a field in reasonable condition.  Sometimes you get lucky when a game is dictated by the weather.  I think Bethel was a better team and the game stats show that.

Your opinion is yours and you are entitled to it. Ittersagen had the same footing as the would be tacklers. I saw the return and the amazing thing is Wheaton had a block on so there were no blockers for Pete other than the hold up on the bullets. The middle coverage lanes were nothing but Bethel players. He did what he has done for the last couple years, made people miss.

No way you could tell who was a better team. You could tell they were pretty evenly matched but the weather minimized the ability to make big plays.

Mugsy and usee....

You guys are such homers.  I am s former Crusader, but I try to be objective.  Sure, the reason Pete could run one back with the block on was because of the field conditions.  Watch the film.  The kick team fell down all over the place while Pete just ran.  Eleven fumbles, a runback with the block on, the best athletes on the field cannot change direction without falling down, the team with a considerable advantage in stats loses the game....you tell me what happened.  Yes, it is my opinion that Bethel is a better team and it is a shame for the terrible field conditions (some poor design on the field to not get better drainage than that...ridiculous) to cost them the game.

1 Who will be?
2 I hope not as well, we scored so quickly it didn't leave the defense with much time to rest.   ;)
3 I don't care as long as we win.  ;D
4 D will get better
5 Good one  :D

Is cardinal alum a homer? what about everyone else on here?

Show me the considerable advantage in the stats? be rational. prove your point. I showed you a sizeable advantage in the stats for the Thunder. any response? anything? I was at the game and I know what I saw. Believe what you like about Pete's return.

Calling Mugsy and I "homers" is about as accurate as calling CardinalDad a Thunder fan.

The voters obviously don't agree that Bethel was a superior team.

You are delusional.

Well I am certainly not a homer.  Why, I only picked IWU with a '2' this week!

You are a homer for the CCIW, not necessarily Wheaton.  I saw the game in person.  The Wheaton fans around me agreed that Bethel was the superior team, more athleticism and more team speed, and the only reason they lost was because of the terrible field conditions.  There were huge puddles of water on the field.  There must be very poor drainage at the new McCulley field.  The stats below, while definitely in the Royal's favor, do not adequately reflect their superiority.  Eleven fumbles all caused by the slippery conditions.  Sometimes you get lucky and the Thunder got REAL lucky in this game.   You are delusional.  Were you at the game?

Thanks for the info.
I am honored to be the first poster for milliken this year :D
I was checking the comments and did not see much info, RE them prior to your replies.
Hopefully the Brits pull a win and get on a roll going into a tough stretch of games starting with Central then the conference games start.
