I have always preferred the Cardinal Head for North Central.  I do not like the letters interlocked because to me that is like NC-North Carolina or ND interlocked-North Dakota.  The Cardinal Head was symbolic of North Central.
On that same note, when Tim Lester said he was going to let the players decide on a new logo for the new regime, I was hoping they would have gone back to the perched Bluejays look from the 70's and  80's.  I do like the new "flaming E Shield" (as I call it), which is also shown on the carpet at the 20 yd lines.

I know it's plain  but my favorite football logos are the Bears C  and the Green Bay G, which are two of the best.  IMO, that is football Chicago vs. Green Bay  with the Bears winning.
On a side note, my Fiance' is a Packer fan, ??? so I have to try and convert her!

I like the letters better than the head of bird.

Madswede, with your relocation, did your wife get back into the fitness training business?

Greg, you are hilarious - and your family crest should be mounted over your door.

[I have NO clue where that came from, but the line went straight from my subconscious to my fingers. :-[ :o ;)]

Query:

Which North Central logo looks the best?

1.  The Cardinal Head

2.  The NC letters

Taulk amongst yourselves....

I am partial to the Cardinal Head logo.

I definitely like the cardinal logo. I was dissappointed when it was changed. With the success the Cards have had since the change, I don't think we will see a change. :(

I like the cardinal head better.  I personally think the letters are too close together so that unless you get close, you can be unsure of what the logo actually is.

Good luck to all the cciw teams this week.  Stay safe and have fun!

I like the cardinal head better by far since it was usually an easy Wheaton win during that tenure.  ;) ;D

The D3 connection has been mentioned here before, but it should be mentioned again: The 'C' logo of the Bears, as well as their nickname, "The Monsters of the Midway", are both borrowed from the University of Chicago. George Halas liked to borrow identifying characteristics from other local sports teams for his football franchise. In addition to the logo and the informal nickname that he took from the U of C, the name "Bears" was derived from the Chicago Cubs (who were the Bears' landlords in Wrigley Field for five decades), and the navy-and-orange team colors were adopted from Halas's alma mater, the University of Illinois.

I always thought that "The Monsters of the Midway" was one of the silliest nicknames in professional sports, since the Bears have never played anywhere close to Chicago's Midway (i.e., 59th Street between Jackson Park and Washington Park). If anyone should've become the Monsters of the Midway, it should've been the South Side's NFL team, the Cardinals. In fact, the Cardinals got their first uniforms -- faded maroon hand-me-downs -- from the University of Chicago's football team, and since the old Maroons unis had become a more conventional shade of red due to repeated washing the team became known as the Racine Avenue Cardinals. Later, of course, they became the Chicago Cardinals, then the St. Louis Cardinals, and now the Arizona Cardinals.

It's interesting that older South Siders grew up hating the Bears, just as South Siders have traditionally grown up hating the Cubs. The Cardinals were the South Side's football team, and the Bears were the North Side's football team. It wasn't until the Cardinals moved to St. Louis in 1960 that the city's pro football fans became united behind the Bears.

The female announce for CUW radio is pretty good. The other guy is useless. after the wheaton TD he said "Concordia has to stay positive against a Wheaton team that is notorious for running up the score to prove a point". Huh??
