North Park has 7 points... what!?!? I'm just going to ignore that poll after seeing that

I am sitting here in the same room with my Dad and I think he said this exact same quote after I told him that North Park was receiving votes.  Where does the voting for that poll come from anyway?
I am a NATIONAL Champion, and I refuse to lose!

Oopsie, I guess that does kinda demean the Titans being #24! ;D

You guys just had to spoil my mood by pointing out what a joke that poll is.  Party poopers, you are - yeah, party poopers! >:(

Guess I gotta stick with the d3 poll, and hope the 2 points absolutely explode. ;)

well if it's on the basketball board then jaybird is justified in his optimism - and "Elmhurst has a real chance to win this game because Mark Scherer is their coach."

Good coaches, put good teams on the floor.  It's no coincidence that Elmhurst has been a conference contender in basketball almost from the first day he arrived - he's a good coach.

Agreed.

Exhibit A:  2007
Elmhurst starts out 4-0, even starts getting mention by D3 writers... then loses 4 straight to the CCIW contenders (Augustana, Wheaton, North Central, IWU).

Exhibit B: 2006
Elmhurst starts out 4-0, then loses 3 of 4 to the CCIW contenders (Augustana, Wheaton, North Central).

Exhibit C: 2005
Elmhurst starts out 5-0, then loses 4 of last 5 games to the CCIW contenders (North Central, Wheaton, Augustana and Carthage).

One of these years, jaybird... but I just had to give you a little ribbin' on this.

Watch out Mugsy, or he might bring up 1999 again.......  :'(

79 Jaybird.

Just wanted you to know that the Pick em' tiebreaker on yardage for Augustana was total yardage, not just rushing.  Didn't know if that would change your pick or not.

 Thank you Orsky, I will look into it.  Ah yes, 1999- I was on the team then and it was one of my memorable (football) memories at Elmhurst.  Too bad we haven't been able to solve the Thunder since then! :o  We have come close a couple of times, but couldn't get over the hump.
I'm hoping Elmhurst football doesn't end up the way Chicago surprised our soccer team.  The soccer Jays are ranked #16 and were 7-0 and Chicago defeated them 2-1 in OT.  On the gridiron, I think Elmhurst has a stronger defense and is overall the better team, but they have to bring their mojo Saturday.  (and everyday for that matter)

Looking ahead to next week as the regular season gets underway (as posters/fans we are allowed to look ahead). The hardest part to winning a conference championship is winning on the road. Every CCIW Champion usually has to win at least 1 tough road game to get win the crown and get the AQ. Of the teams that could contend for the title (Augie, IWU, NCC, Wheaton, Carthage) the schedule strongly favors the Cardinals.

NCC:
Home vs: Carthage, IWU and Augie
@Wheaton (8 miles away)

Augie:
Home vs:Wheaton at home
@IWU, Carthage and NCC.

Wheaton:
Home vs: NCC and IWU
@Augie and Carthage

IWU:
Home vs:Carthage and Augie
@NCC and Wheaton

Carthage:
Home vs: Augie and Wheaton
@IWU and NCC.

If you are curious about Elmhurst (this if for you jbird) they host Augie, Wheaton and NCC while travelling to Carthage and IWU.

Usee,
I think the hardest part was writing this out.
My brain hurts... ??? that was like a math word problem.  Could you chart it out or maybe graph it for us less verbally skilled?  I'm much better with visual aids. :)

Good info usee!!! IF Elmhurst was contending, I would say they would have the inside track. ;D

For the North Central fans who can't make it to Olivet for the game tomorrow night, I will have livestats for the game ... The link is www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics/livestats/mfootball/

Also, I talked to your radio crew and they make the trip.

If you are coming to the game, have a safe trip to Michigan ... If you want to get a bite to eat before the game, I would recommend stopping somewhere before you get to Olivet.
