"Scott Pethtel called off the dogs and pulled the last of his starters with ten minutes left in the ballgame. "

GS probably the only time I've heard of this in NP football history.  Not going to use that phrase so cherish it :)

By the way the color guy on WETN broadcast tonight uses "ya know" like Obama uses "ahs" when answering a question.  You don't notice it cause he says it so often but once you do notice it it becomes quite annoying.  ???

Wheaton up big 47-7 under 5 minutes in game

Augie is driving w under 2 to play. they are at the platteville 30 yd line.

usee

On 3rd and 2 from the platteville 30 podulka is sacked but a personal foul on UWP give augie a 1st down at the UWP 13

usee

And on the next play Josh Galliart fumbles and UWP recovers. Looks like Augie will lose a tough one up in Wisconsin.

usee

Augie loses 13-9 (UWP takes a meaningless safety at end of game to run out the clock)

Carthage now losing 26-7 in the 3rd.

Thanks Usee.  I do know a little bit.  Like I said earlier, I just don't want anyone in the program angry at us.  Next time I'll defer and not respond.  It was nice to see him throw the ball well today.

New Tradition

Ohio Northern got thumped again 37-7 at the hands of Otterbein, falling to 0-3.  Good NCC played them first when they were ranked 16th...

I guess that is true for Wheaton also as Bethel is now 0-3 after their loss today.

usee

Bethel is 1-3. They beat Concordia in week 1.

There goes my prophecy theory.

Mr. Ypsi

Since ONU and Bethel seemed (then) to be the marquee wins for the conference, good thing we went 19-5! ;)  I imagine we'll remain about 5th in the view of conference-rankers.  Very good, but not totally premiere.

Back from Kenosha and it was a wild one.  This was Carthage's game and unfortunately we let it slip away.  Offense was not able to sustain a drive in the 1st half and we were down 20-0.  7 on a pick 6.  We fought back and had the lead at 27-26 in the 4th.  A 50 yd kick off return gave the Camels great field position at our 40.  Our D who played a great game against a much bigger and faster opponent, only gave up a 40 yd field goal.  Red Men down 29-27.

The Red Men take the kick off and drive all the way to a 1st and goal on the Camels 5, 3:03 left to play in the game.  We throw a quick slant, which had been intercepted twice before, 1 a pick 6.  Its picked off again, returned 99 yds for the 2nd pick 6 on the night.  Camels up 35-27, pretty much game over.  We can't convert on a 4th and 5 and they run the clock out.

Carthage turned the ball over 8 times with 7 interceptions.   ???

Positives are the D gave us enough stops for a win and the O and moved the ball well making some great plays in the 2nd half .

Give credit to the Camels, their first win in 50 years, we gave it to 'em though.  I will tell you, the Camels were huge and fast.

Oh and it was the premier of the "new improved Torchy!"  Kind of looks like a character from the 'Incredibles."  It is a vast improvement.
