This has nothing to do with football.  But it needs to be said (mostly to brag), I was in Cancun last week.  Why any of us choose to live in this midwestern climate is a mystery.  Let the karma hits commence.

I think that Podulka got the opow award because of the shock  that an augie quarterback could have those stats.  He had  more passing yards(194) than rushing yards (60)and more passing attempts(18) than rushing attempts (16). td's were same. (1)  And that he had a triple digit qb rating.

Some impressive offensive performances for the week when a QB goes 17-18 for 239 yards, 3 TD's passing and 1 rushing TD (94% completion rate and a 260 efficiency rating) in only 2 1/2 quarters, but does not win offensive player of the week.   :o

Congrats to those who did win CCIW players of the week.  Some nice individual performances there.

I understand that there is an anti-Wheaton conspiracy brewing once again.

+K for you - I agree - he did it against an undefeated opponent on the road - and a team that was highly ranked in total defense.

Has anyone got player of week award offense or defense against North Park?  Maybe they didn't want to break the tradition :)

Strength of opponent is always high on my mind when choosing the Team of the Week.

I don't know Pat about D3 I was referring to the CCIW p's of the week.  But I do seem to recall some ungodly numbers that were run up by your POW players against some not so auspicious opponents.  You may not be able to weed them all out but good to know you do look at their opponents.

I wasn't trying to say anything about how the CCIW makes its picks. :)

Yes, strength of opponent is a big factor for us but sometimes we don't get enough nominations to eliminate all weak opponents. And some numbers are too big to ignore.

Again while I am a Wheaton alum and the QB in question was from Wheaton, why do you assume I'm upset because a Wheaton player didn't win.  Have I complained during any other week this year (or any year for that matter) where Wheaton did not win any of these honors?

I would have stated my amazement regardless of what team the QB played for.  It just so happens that since I watch Wheaton more closely I happen to be more aware of the outstanding game Norris had against North Park.  94% completion and a QB rating of 260, despite playing against one of the weaker football programs in the country, is still impressive.

Not to take anything away from the Augie player (I did give my sincere congrats in a previous post), but while Elmhurst was previously undefeated and their defense was highly ranked, you need to take into consideration who Elmhurst has played to this point to garner that ranking.  In the weeks to come we will find out that Elmhurst, while having a decent defense, is not a top ranked defense in the country.

Talk about a having chip on shoulder anytime anyone mentions something positive about Wheaton.  Gimme a break!

I believe I've been able to add to the discussion on this board over the years and provide some objective thought.

Pat,
So you're saying Norris has a chance this week? :)
You might want to take a look at the Woods NP QB  39-22-2   346 yds  4 tds
and his #1 WR, Cochiaro  8 rec  197 yds   3 tds    95 (longest) :)

Plus to back the Podulka honor-  Podulka was the reason (offensively) Augie won this game.  There was nobody else on offense that you could point to (for either side) that was a standout gamebreaker that Podulka who ran the Augie offense well.

Oh yes - I think its happened many, many times, that someone has gotten Player of the Week against North Park.  But I do believe the conference SID got this one right.  You can't have all the toys, all the time.  Not even Wheaton.

Touchy we are.  The Wheaton nerve has been pressed - and the alarm has gone off once again in the bat cave.

There's always that little tender nerve isn't there?

For the record - Wheaton has a great athletic program.  They contend for a CCIW title in almost every sport.  I continue to have many, many friends who are both Wheaton alums and employees at Wheaton.  Go Blue and Orange.

But there's always that little turn of the nose upward....

If the shoe fits - it's okay to wear it.

If you don't think you are - good for you.

I don't think it's fair to stereo type Wheaton as whiners. I think every school has their share of whiners.  I.E.  Norm at IWU football   Bill Harris at Wheaton bball, etc.

I wouldn't put much into the who gets _______  questions.  The bottom line is that all these pre-reg. and post- season honors/awards are all opinion and somebody thought highly enough of that person to nominate him/her.
