This is kinda like training camp for NCC boosters. This week, we'll beat on each other. Next week, NCC boosters will unite and take on the Wheaties.  ;)

Guys, you are taking this post totally out of context and running with it. No where was Kyle Kniss blamed for the loss against Wash U. Not one specific play was mentioned in my post as NCC.2008 mentions. The statement was a generalization that has been stated on this board a number of times. The offense performs better with Fanthorpe under center. To many, it was evident, even early last year that Fanthorpe should have been named the starter. Like you yourself said NCC.2008, put the blame on the coaching staff. THAT was the context of the post. Read the entire post, not just a portion of it. I never blamed Kniss in this post. I agree, he works his butt off and is a leader. He is a fine young man and a good football player. I have nothing but respect for the Kniss family from the top down. Don't put words in my mouth.
CardAlum, you are correct. I'm not sure that many, but some players would quit when put in a situation like that. One of the qb's that was in the qb derby, indeed, did not return when Kniss was put into the mix. Re-read the post. It was not a knock on Kniss. It was a knock on the coaching staff. I have too much respect for any football player, on any level, to stoop to that level.

Thanks for the clarification.  I'm a little on edge as first my White Sox got knocked out, the Bears gave away ANOTHER game and the Blackhawks lost again last night!  Couple that with me sticking up for Mugsy last week and you can see my frustration!!  ;D

Ahh yes, Homecoming, then Wheatie week!!  Looking forward to these next two weeks.  First things first.  Carthage will bring their normal physical game to Naperville, I'm sure.  I hope we don't look past them!

I think the statement is more that Elmhurst is not that far away from jumping into the top 4.

Here we go again...... ::)

Over the past 5 years Jaybird has been doing the same thing again and again. Elmhurst starts out with non-conference schedule that even North Park could go 3 and 0 with, and then wins a conference game against Carthage, or maybe Milikin and Jaybird goes all gun ho about how good Elmhurst is and how they are this close to getting into the top 4 of the conference. He fails to remember that just a week ago they got pounded by an Augie team 42-6, who then got soundly beaten by a Wheaton team by the score of 26-14. To make it even more interesting he is choosing Carthage over NCC this week in the Pickems. Do you really think that Elmhurst is that much better than NCC that a team you guys beat, we will lose to?

Jaybird often picks against North Central. A couple years ago, he picked North Park over North Central. Jaybird might pick North Central twice all season. It's not a big deal. The only game that Jaybird could pick NCC is the game with IWU. And only if JB feels that Elmhurst could finish ahead of IWU. I'm sure that JB does think that Elmhurst will beat North Central, but we'll have to wait a few more weeks for that.

Defensive players can look at the game with Carthage in two ways.

1. Wow, we better get our stuff together otherwise we'll give up 700 yards! Or ...

2. This is our chance to intercept 5 or 6 passes in one game!

For the record I picked Carthage to beat my Jays last week and I have picked North Central a few times this year already.  I go week to week with who's playing well.

I'm interested in the Augie-IWU game this week.  Always a tough battle!  IMO, a win keeps the winner in the conference hunt, a loss and the loser is really hurting. I really enjoy this part of the conference season as the standings begin to work themselves out.

Fantastic!

Don't know if you all have heard, but Ghostbusters 3 is in the works, supposedly with the original cast.
You win! You always do!

Here's some + Karma for you 79JB. For everybody ganging up on you. ;D ;D. I'm every bit the homer you are. I invite anyone in Emhurst this weekend to stop by for a cold beverage. We will be in the parking lot north of the field at about the 40 yard line on the west end. matblake I also am interested in the Augie vs IWU game this week. I found it the hardest game to pick.

I did hear something about that.  IMDB says it's in pre-production and slated to come out in 2011.  I know that several attempts were made to create a third installment of the Ghostbusters films before, but they had problems coming up with a worthwhile plot and script.  Hopefully this one is up to snuff.  The recent new/old sequels of Indiana Jones and Rambo really disappointed me.  Rocky Balboa has been the only decent one, IMHO.

Man, that divorce settlement must've really taken a bite out of Bill Murray for him to have to sign on for another Ghostbusters sequel a full quarter of a century after the original. Too bad, as he's been on a real winning streak in this decade.

Which, for a Cubs fan, is no mean feat.
