Well, here we are the day before what should be the game of the year in the conference barring any surprises down the road.  This game is going to come down to the LOS, period.  Talk all you want about special teams, skill players, coaching, but I really see it as how is the Cardinal O-line going to handle a very skilled Wheatie D-line and on the flip side, how is the Wheatie O-line going to keep Wenger from wreaking havoc.  Should be a great game!

Games are won and lost in the trenches. Excellent analysis. Only a North Central alum could pen such brilliance.

Dr. Tom's updated forecast reads much like it did yesterday:

Light rain ends early. Clouds break, but some afternoon sprinkles may occur. Cool with brisk southwest winds. Partly cloudy and windy overnight.

I think it comes down to whoever scores more points will win.   ;)

But... you are right.  Line play will be huge in deciding who scores more.

Apparently there will be a preview of tomorrow's game on Comcast Sportsnet tonight:

Very nice. I will have to set the DVR for that tonight.

A little more promising forecast for the fans who will be attending the game tomorrow night. A friend of mine works for the National Weather Service, I asked him what to expect tomorrow night in Wheaton, IL.

"Forecast looks good for tomorrow night.  You guys are going just in time as Sunday will be somewhat raw by afternoon and evening as a major cold front comes sweeping through."

When you are this evenly matched, we can't rule out those drive ending, big play breaking penalties. The team that doesn't shoot itself in the foot will have a big advantage at the end of this game.

from GS

"I can't think of any reason whatsoever why anyone who isn't a CCIW player's parent or a Wheaton supporter would read the CCIW women's soccer room (sorry, Jim). Women's soccer is as much of a one-school monopoly in this league as men's cross-country is."

GS- North Park has actually won two conference games this year and Wheaton has lost one.  Film at eleven.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

When was the last time the CCIW had 3 of their 4 games as night games?  (I don't know the answer just asking)
I would love to see Elmhurst get lights up on their field.  I know they attract great crowds at York and IC (HS) and think a night game would attract a great community atmosphere.

It would have had to have been recently, as lights on CCIW fields are a relatively new phenomenon.  Carthage has had theirs for the longest I believe.

But then they wouldn't be able to travel to Wheaton to see North Central take back the Bell!!!!

I haven't been on the board as much this year for Bell week, but I do have to say that I'm really looking forward to this game.  I think both teams know what the other is capable of, both teams have terrific athletes, and having a leg up in the conference race all contribute to the compelling story line.  I think wheaton wins, 28-17, but the last Wheaton TD comes extremely late in the game and makes the game look less close than it was.  Too bad I can't be there,  the atmosphere is going to be great, even if you have kids in tow.   ;D

The night games are great for the Home team but if you are the road team and traveling 2+ hours you don't get home till midnight. That kind of stinks.

At least football plays on Saturdays.  Other sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball etc.) regularly play in the evening during the week.

North Central was playing most of the home games at night going back to the mid 70s  (Dennis probably knows for sure). Interestingly, this season, all their home games are during the day.
