I suspect you're right, but they only trailed them by 18 points, and would have beaten a better team today.  (I also forgot that Muhlenberg is currently ahead of both Wabash and NCC, but they struggled to beat a very mediocre Franklin and Marshall team today, and are probably ripe to be jumped by one or both.)

Mr. Ypsi

Augie 20, Carthage 3 - middle of 2nd quarter.

IWU 7, Elmhurst 7 - also mid-2nd quarter.

Mr. Ypsi

Elmhurst gets a fg, leads 10-7 under 3 minutes to the half.

Augie still up 20-3 with about 4 'til the half.

Mr. Ypsi

AAARRGH!!  Titans had 1st and goal from the 2 with 26 seconds remaining, and all they got was a missed fg!  (I believe that is Duffy's first miss of the entire season, and it was virtually a PAT! :()  IWU's pair of running backs (Lanter and Winston) have combined for 5 attempts for MINUS 4 yards! :o

Elmhurst up 10-7 at the half.

Augie up 20-10 at the half.

Mr. Ypsi

Had to go out for awhile - now IWU 21, Elmhurst 10 near the end of the third. :)  But what's with the rushing game??!!  Now 19 attempts for 30 yards! :(

And Elmhurst scores 5 seconds into the 4th, then gets the 2-point conversion - IWU 21, E'hurst 18.

Augie up 33-16 with 12 to go.

Mr. Ypsi

WOW!  NCC up on Wheaton 23-0 at the half!

I did NOT see that coming!

RadioNotes

All CARD fans were hoping...but don't forget last year::) I certainly
hope the cards have no let down and have learned their lessons well!
Great job so far on both sides of the ball!  Less penalties too!
Go Cards!
D3 Rocks!

NCC has had leads on wheaton recently...hopefully they continue to execute.
I'm relying on cardalum for text message updates...so I don't have a feel for the game.
Cards need to lock it up now!

FINAL:  Augie 40, Carthage 16.

(Effectively) Final:  IWU 35, Elmhurst 18, 4 something to go.

The prime story is the Titan passing game - FOUR receivers have 64 or more yards!  The rushing game may see a shake-up: Lanter and Winston combined for 12 attempts, TWO yards; but Travis Brubaker had 6 carries for 67 yards.

Mr. Ypsi

Elmhurst not going quietly - TD, but PAT blocked - 35-24, but only 2:24 to go.

IWU (Almanzo) covers the onside kick - game all but over.

Mr. Ypsi

3rd and 12, Brubaker runs for 13!  This one's over, and the Titans might have a new feature back.

Ladd takes a knee and the Titans final is 35-24.

Fanthorpe and Wenger - both are coming up huge for NC.  Has any team won both CCIW Offensive and Defensive POY?  After tonight's performance, I don't know two better candidates.

HScoach

Wheaton trying to make a game of it now.  Only down 37-21.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

HScoach

Nevermind.  Now 44-21 in favor of NCC with under 4 minutes to play.

Congrats to NCC on a great win.
