They are kicking themselves in Wheaton for losing to Elmhurst.

As they were in 1999.  That's twice Elmhurst has kept Wheaton from the playoffs.  Hope they remember that for 09'.

Lots of carnage in d3 today will make it hard to decipher the brackets. I think its a 90% chance NCC is #1 seed. Likely the North w Mt Union going East. The 8 seed (and ncc opponent) could be anyone from aurora, thomas More, even Wooster.

D3 will post projections late tonight so stay tuned. I am reading up and will report back if I get any info

I will add one more thing. The NCAA likely does NOT want anothe mt union v whitewater stagg bowl so if muc goes east, the west will be a 4 seed and play mt union in the semis. That means NCC wouldn't face mt union until the Stagg bowl (north v south in the semis)

Congrats to the Cardinals on the completion of an undefeated regular season!  They have put themselves in position for a strong post season run!  Just hope everyone is healthy.
CARDINAL PRIDE STARTS WITH ME!

Usee,

I completely agree with both of your above posts.  MUC goes east to fill the void after the Cortland St loss, NCC stays in the North and the West will be paired with the East.    Regional seedings will probably be as follows:

1.  MOUNT UNION (east)

2.  NORTH CENTRAL (north)

3.  MILLSAPS (south)

4.  WILLAMETTE (west)
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Had to go pick up my son, so hscoach beat me to the reply.  I see it exactly the same way, so while preventing another MUC-UWW Stagg might be a welcome bonus, you don't need 'conspiracy thinking' to arrive at it! ;)

I'm not real certain how the committee will see 2 and 3, but 1 and 4 seem pretty clear.

I remember a few weeks ago comparing Lenny Radtke to Matt Wenger and one thing I said was that Lenny was better in pass coverage....

After watching the last 4 weeks, it is very apparent how good Wenger is playing the pass after he lead the conference in interceptions and has been all over the place tipping balls left and right.

Wenger is a stud, a great overall linebacker that can do anything, no questions asked.

I think he locked up the Conference defensive player of the year today, and is arguably one of the best linebackers in Division 3.

I know Wheaton had a very small chance at earning a pool C entering today's action, my question is, did all of the upsets improve their chances at all?  Or did those upsets just hand out automatic bids to teams who weren't really in the hunt for pool C bids?

Also, congrats to Coach Pedro Aruzza and his Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets for beating Hampden-Sydney and securing an automatic playoff bid.  Coach Aruzza sure has that program headed in the right direction!

One result that helped ALL pool C hopefuls was SJF losing and moving Ithaca from C to A.  Redlands losing gave them a second loss and probably eliminated them (though the winner of that game, Cal Lu, only has two losses and BOTH were to undefeated teams).  I'd say there are four pool C locks (UWW, Otterbein, Hardin-Simmons, and W&J), but I'm real fuzzy so far on how other teams compare to Wheaton for the last two slots.  Their chances are probably still slim, but one heck of a lot better than a few hours ago! ;)

The problem with Wheaton is they will still be behind Otterbein and Wooster as Pool C in the north and all 6 spots will be filled before they can even get to the table. I say zero chance.

Good point.  I forgot that they will still almost certainly be waiting behind Wooster; I doubt they'll even reach the table.

I think the North will shake out like this:

MUC moves East. Thomas More in as #8

1 NCC v 8 Thomas More
2 Trine v 7 Aurora
3 CWR v 6 Franklin
4 Ott v 5 Bash (Bash loss to Depauw is worse than Ott's loss to Mt Union)

top 4 seeds host. NCC to host winner of Ott/Bash and then vs South Region winner to go to Stagg.

And he likely gets an 8 seed and a trip to Alliance Ohio as a reward.  :( :o
