Looking forward to USee's take on the Wheaton game... I see he is on his way back from the game given he is lurking and his latest post was via cell phone.

Just returned from NCC/Thomas More game...

Great effort by the saints, they were just overmatched today by a more talented team.

3 key penalties I can remember that hurt the Saints
2 catcher interference penalties on punt returns, one in the 1st quarter that gave NC the ball back after they fumbled inside the 20, they proceeded to score within the next 2 minutes or so.

NC had a few guys banged up that will hopefully be ready to go next week...it looks like our defense will be running all over the place.

Congrats to Wheaton on a big win as well...looking forward to a meeting in the quarters if both of us can take care of business.

Back from Angola. I will say Trine is a lot better than any MIAA rep I have seen in 15 years. Their defensive front is the real deal. They have a linebacker, Courtney Pearson, that would start on almost any team. He is 6'3" and 250 lbs and virtually unblockable. They certainly could have won this game but their offense isn't quite developed enough yet. Wheaton's defense took over several times and their offense was fairly efficient. I was disappointed that Wheaton turned it over 4x.

Norris' first interception was because he was hit while throwing. His second was a good read by LB Pearson and his fumble in the redzone before halftime was just plain stupid on his part. Norris made some great reads and throws but he also did some really knuckleheaded things as well. Wheaton has to take care of the ball if they are to live to play another day from here.

Defensively, Trine challenged Ittersagen many times. He made some plays but they completed some balls on him as well. Trine has some great athletes on their team. They made some big mistakes and were 0-4 in the red zone.

Wheaton did not play particulalry well but they made enough plays to win this game. They could have just as easily beat Trine by 3-4 TD's as well as lose this game.

On a side note, I can't say how happy I am the game is in Crawfordsville and not Cleveland next week. I am going to try and make it down there. It will be a real treat to see a game at Wabash against the Little Giants.

From a TRINE Thunder fan, congratulations and good luck in the rest of the playoffs.

I am glad Wheaton doesn't have to face Rupp this week. 7 td's and 500+ yds? Oh my! It may be a shootout in Naperville of basketball score proportions.

Pat,
Great coverage on all the things going on in Division 3, you guys really help us former players and parents stay involved...thanks alot.

One thing I saw on the pickems (at least mine when I pull it up)  is that the date listed for the games is actually the Tuesday before..
1st Round (November 18th), 2nd Round (November 25th),  etc....  If you guys could somehow change that to the Saturday, that would be great for people who get confused easily, like CardinalAlum  :)
Thanks!

New Tradition,

Thanks for the comments on the PAC board.  You guys enjoy the rest of your season... you have a great team.  QB, RB, WR... and defense.. which I think will carry you past Franklin.  Wenger is the real deal... he woke up as Pat said, midway through the 1st half and Thomas More had real trouble with their base running plays immediately following that.

I will let you know if I'm Chicago-bound this weekend or the following.

First of all, big props to the Saints of Thomas More.  You guys kept coming the whole game and never let up.  That bodes well for your future.  Good luck.  As far as today, I look at it like NCC did what they had to do to win today and nothing more.  Fanthorpe and Sulo played well, but I didn't see too much else to get excited about.   It was eerily similar to the Augie game where there didn't seem to be a lot of excitement.  Hoping we find it this week because Franklin will be fired up to play us after last years' victory in the playoffs.  Get healthy, Cards!!  Congrats to Wheaton.

As a reminder to Pat. Not only did I have Wheaton in the play offs weeks ago but I also have them winning 3 games.  ;) ;) ;)

Good to see NC win as expected, and for Wheaton to justify its selection as an at-large bid.  2 CCIW teams in the final 16 bodes well for future at-large bids for the conference.  Good luck to both next week.  Two very interesting matchups.

How much has Wabash changed since the departure of Creighton, Neathery and staff?  Are they still running pretty much the same schemes on O and D or has  the new staff revamped things?

Kinda humorous to hear Coach Sandberg's reaction to plays.  Sounds like the Wheaton coaches are right next to the WETN broadcast crew in the pressbox.   ;D

It really wasn't a matter of him waking up, he was playing with the flu.  I think he played pretty well considering that, 12 tackles (1.5 for a loss) and a pick in 2 1/2 quarters.

I think Wenger would have had to been on his death bed for him to miss the playoff game Saturday.  He's that type of player that plays with heart, aggression, and with a good head on his shoulders, doesn't make ill advised decisions.
Glad to see both CCIW teams pick up victories.  Hope we can say the same thing next weekend.
