I suspect those on the wrong side of that discussion are still in exile.  8)

I would not be in favor of Carroll or St. Norbert joining the CCIW.  The league to me seems to be an appropriate size for ease of scheduling both conference and non-conference match-ups.  I guess we'll see what happens.

Hey matblake, I think we need your research expertise for this weekends CCIW opponenets. :)

No you wouldn't. The OAC is a 10 team league and they play everybody. You could play 9 games and 1 preseason game. That said, I would not be a fan of this. I like playing 2-3 preseason games to warm up for the regular season.

Since this topic was pulled from the basketball boards, my opinion is that the addition of two teams might make sense for every sport but football. I like how the CCIW plays three non-conference games. Through those games, the CCIW has gotten exposure to other conferences throughout the region which has to be a good thing for teams under playoff consideration, and then in the playoffs.

Obviously, the downside is that you miss two teams per year and the conference champion could be determined by who you don't play.

Overheard someone, (NCC player's parent), say that their quarterback broke his wrist during practice?  I thot
there was a similar injury earlier in year to Fanthorpe.   Maybe it was rehashing old news or if he reaggravated it.    That sure would be a shame if he can't battle it out with Rupp on Sat.

Much more well said than the nonsense that came out of brain in my attempt to state the same thing!
You win! You always do!

That would be a bad loss for NCC.

I would be in favor of adding 2 teams to bring the total to 10.  You could even break it into 2 divisions then.  I don't think this will happen anytime soon, but stranger things have happened.  Schools which I know have petitioned (at one time) to join include
Benedictine
Aurora
Carroll
St. Norbert
VOICE OF THE BLUEJAYS '01-'10
CCIW FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS 1978 1980 2012
CCIW BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS 2001
2022 BASKETBALL NATIONAL RUNNER UP
2018  & 2024 CCIW PICK EM'S CHAMPION

::)  I hope your post doesn't rehash the preseason vs. non conference discussion!!  ;)

This means Wheaton and NCC played a preseason playoff game and if they both win this week they get to play a regular season playoff game.   ;D

I would think the objective of two 5 team divisions is that you play every time in your division and three in the other division. And, of course, the goal of the CCIW would be to minimize travel. I don't know how you break into two divisions given the current physical makeup and the schools on that "waiting" list. You have four Chicago area schools currently.  If Carroll and St. Norbert are the teams, you'd have three Wisconsin teams. And you'd have three other Illinois teams. Creating two five team divisions might make someone unhappy enough to leave ...

I really don't see this happening.  I would not be a fan of that.  I also like the idea of 3 NON-CONFERENCE GAMES. ;D
Carroll was in the CCIW and left, i don't see them coming back.

Thank you Dad!

I guess I'll take Michigan despite the Wolverines being without their starting QB and RB.  Not to mention, it's in Columbus.  Anyway, being a rivalry game, maybe they can keep it within 20.

We're all tied up.... Next one is for Bama/ Florida
I'll wait on the pick until the friday before so we know the spread!

IMO, don't fix what isn't broken.  You have 8 schools within relatively close geographic proximity and are generally like minded in terms of academics, athletics, etc...

I do not like a 2 division model and do not think it would fit well within the context of the teams being considered - for the very reasons listed by others previously.
