It is not the distance one has to drive down here (this is still the greatest fwy system Sunday morning 6 AM) but 8,000,000 cars on the road at once and some ignoramus drops a load of used mattresses off the '79 Dodge pick-up and 40 miles can take you 200 minutes.

California Highway Patrol willing I can get to
Chapman 15'
OXY 60'
Redlands 70'
La Verne 50'
Muddville 55'
Po Pitz 40'
CaLu 80'
Cal Tech 50' (watched cricket there once)
Whittier 45'

On further reflection, Monrovia Cat is just about alligned with all those institutions except Chapman. They are all somehow relative in their proximity to the 210 Fwy (Rose Bowl) and mountain foothills. Redlands is most east and Cal Lutheran the most west.

I posted once already  it is Whitworth's home game to earn but a pity they may not draw as many as 3000 if / when OXY comes to play.  Lots of  the LINFIELD community would like to see it and it's too far for a day trip.

Will miss you at school.

Foss,

Oxy is indeed in L.A. (or Eagle Rock to be precise).  It's not too far from the OC (probably hour to an hour and half) so our friend Dens could come up if a game is to be played at some point.  I was hoping the Cats might make it down here as I have, sadly, not attended a live Cat game since the days when they played Redlands down here (of course I've seen a Stag Bowl on TV and am glued to my computer most Saturdays during the season).  Alas, it's hard to make it up to Oregon with my only excuse being a football game (my wife's words of course).

But, hopefully, she liked the brownies that she got to enjoy because Linfield players (especially the OOOOOOOOOOO(Sean)OOOOLine) and Linfield fans are some of my favorite people? ;D ;D ;D
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Olinemom!  A million more thanks.  Mrs. MoCat enjoyed the brownies and would love the recipe(s) if they are not a family/corporate secret!  We finally finished them off a few nights ago (since they didn't get eaten during the game they made a nice, prolonged week of enjoyment in prep for the Pios of Lewis and Clark this week).  Thank you thank you thank you!

>>D-train, really?  we play them for a Totem Pole?  Must be a newer tradition or re-instituted cause I don't remember that from '83/'84.<<

Here's an article about the Totem Pole, which PLU and UPS have battled for since 1947.

OxyBob

Thanks for the link, you too Hatchetman, says current Totem Pole is in it's 23rd year, that would date it back to '83 when we started playing UPS again after a layoff of about 3 years.  Guess I've got CRS.

Thanks for the Veterans' Day reminders. We owe a huge debt to all who have served, and we won't forget you, Mike Barrow.

Go Cats---Play for pride and who knows.....maybe fate will smile on us today!  Now the sportsman in me wants the Cats to get a comfy lead and then bring in everybody to play today but there is always a part of me that likes to see huge stats which could certainly be had by leving starters in most of the game....(I've got the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other.....) but I'll be happy today with the Cats playing solid football (a shutout on d?, no turnovers on O?  maybe a kick return for a TD or blocked kick.....).  I guess the angel on my shoulder wins today (if we were playing a more solid team I'd be all for trying to pile up stats....it's the fantasy football guy in me I guess).

Go Cats.  Finish Strong.  Go NCAA D III selection committee ---Surpise us tomorrow!  Go Cybercats---see you later today!  Go D&D it's not to late to give us scores from last weekend!

light n' darkness

what up cat fans:

there is only onething that the cats play for, its the NC trophy.ever since the 80's. thats the goal. i know when i was a cat that was all that mattered. winning the nwc, or whatever was not the thing. even if you made up some kind of pole or wheel or dragon, it would not be the goal.

the '61 cats made to the national championship game, that gave all future cats the goal, then in '82 the bar bar was set. and all that wear the purple and cardinal know that they to can bring the hareware home to McMinnville.

ever since the move to diii, the cats have had the goal intheir sights. thats why the losses are so hard. they have a goal that is greater than the nwc, 50+ years or whatever.

heres to the cats....... maybe we can get in the play-offs, either way the road to salem starts the minute after saturdays game ends!!!! (either for this year or next)
