Do you like apples?

Hey!  Who taught you about apples, 105?  SJU didn't have apples in any courses I attended.  You must have been on the advanced, distributed gene pool class series.  Lucky.

I would write more, but I'm off to beg my sister/ma for some of that electricity so I can watch a picture box.  Apparently, by viewing B grade movies you can magically learn to make insightful statements and furious put downs.  No intelligence needed.

Do the Johnnies still have that weird bunch of Freaks who dresses up in girls clothes and runs around the stadium in a complete delirium chanting something about a monk and a cigar?

Well, this will be the thrid week this season when we shut up obnoxious fans from the opposing team...Linfield, Oxy, and now the Johnnies.

Way to thank the support given to your team by some other NWC "obnoxious" fans.  Makes me want to root for the Johnnies.....but they have more than one Jack A** rooting for them..... :P Oh wait,  I've got it.... go Whitewater!

Yeah, does Linfield still have that losing streak to St John's going?
How's the early off season treating ya Bluenote?

Yeah, because you all were so gracious leading up to the game with Whitworth.  Just because you are rooting for the only NWC in the playoffs doesn't make any of you Linfield posters better people.  I would root for Linfield too if they were in this situation instead of Whitworth but I wouldn't expect GHC to all of a sudden stop calling us the WT Rats.

Kilted Rat...sorry... I forgot you were one of those Freaks I'm talking about.  ;D  You mean the lucky streak?. Usually the Johnnies don't even make the playoffs because they schedule teams like Crown, St Olaf and Bethel who lowers your status.

retiredoldrat....you're getting kind of feisty in your old age! You must be constipated from one of Johnnie Reds dried up burgers.   ;D

There is more discussion of the Pirates going on over in the SCIAC than here.  Well, there's none going on here.  I found this comment interesting:

Wondering what Oxy players or fans thought of Whitworth's pass defense..looks like Collins was able to complete a lot of short throws.

They did defend the long pass very well. Oxy's receivers aren't the tallest guys on the planet and Whitowrth managed to bat down most of the long passes before our guys could get their hands on them. Screen passes and short routes seemed readily available and seemed to get a solid 4-5 yards with each completion. One odd thing that I noticed was Whitworth's blitzing philosophy. They didn't really seem to compensate for blitzing LB's etc. but rather just left one or two guys open and hoped to get to the QB before he could make the pass. Unfortunately for Oxy, they were able to over power our O-line a few times. Against a bigger and/or more experienced O-line, this approach could really backfire on them.

Good luck to Whitworth this weekend! Keep the West Coast alive!

Hmmm.  After reading TC's post about the Johnnies' offensive philosophy and the LadyTiger's post on Whitworth's defensive behavior, I feel there might be a bit o' excitement this weekend.  For the Johnnies.  ;D

The LadyTiger's graciousness was also notable.  The Pacific Northwest must make folks grumpy.  Maybe a few extra days of SoCal sun would do them good.

Yeah, I was one of the freaks cheering on my team as the WON a National Championship. Great feeling, you should try it some time :D

Don't worry, the Hamm's more than takes care of any constipation caused by the food. The Deviled eggs DustySJU brought last Saturday took care of ridding my body of any and all excess gas. My car smelled like TDT the entire drive home!

....I've cheered Linfield on to 4 National Titles....Moonbeam. And come on, confess...you were dressed in a girls outfit, parading around like a moron cheering for Crown.  ;D

The reason for the blitzing against Oxy is simple.  Collins tends to look at one reciever throughout the entire play.  There wasn't a lot of reading going on on his end (based on film Whitworth coaches watched), so there wasn't the need to try and cover up some of those recievers that Collins could check down to...which he didn't.  Now against an offense who basically let's their veteran QB call the plays, many of them at the line of scrimmage.  You will see a basic shell every play so the QB can't get any good pre-snap reads, and less blitzing than the 6+ guys that were going almost every play against Oxy.

Quick read in the Whitworth Student paper today (The Whitworthian)

Allan should be go to target for (Rats)

Some excerpts:

---Allan's non-factor in the game could be a testament to Occidental's defensive game plan or the inept play calling and execution of the Pirates' offense. Either way Whitworth is lucky to be moving on and hosting another playoff game this coming weekend.

---It is pathetic that in a big game, Allan only had one reception.

---When you have a star on the field, you need to utilize him. Whitworth didn't this weekend, and if they continue to ignore their first team All-NWC tight end they will not be playing much longer.

...he has a point that maybe something's not right when your starting safety has more receptions that your "NFL" prospect.  I've picked up on (509)'s annoyance on not getting Allan more involved.

Actually, the few that have just can't believe that they lost a football game to Whitworth.  Has nothing to do with my posts but their undying loyaltie to a program who made a great run while they still had NFL talent.

You've got to be kidding with a comment like that.  You hadn't beaten Linfield in 30 years before this season's "win."  How many NFL players have been through Linfield in that time...one, two, maybe?  And at least when we did have NFL talent...we used it...what a concept.

The sooner you realize this was an abnormality, a freak occurence, the better off your psyche will be when your squad comes crashing down to earth this weekend and into next year.  You're gonna find out you're just not quite ready for prime time.  You already proved Oxy was who we thought they were now I suspect St. John's will show everybody you are what we thought you were...good luck...nevermind, I don't mean that.  :o
