Wow, I was very impressed with the SJU fans that took a chartered plane to come to Spokane.  Reminds me of the high school games playing in front of crowds of 9,000 people because football is what people cared about.  Hopefuly sooner than later Spokane will adopt Whitworth football as their home team and start showing some more support.

ClassicCat hit the nail on the head.  Whitworth cannot and will not stop any type of screen or swing pass untill they adapt their defensive philosophy a little.  The offense played terrible.  A little of that goes to Clark's still tender ankle (he still didn't run like he did in the regular season), a little goes to some horrendous (at times) play calling, and a lot of it goes to St. John's great pass rush brought by the front four d-linemen.  Those little guys sure have motors.  SJU had a lot of trouble stopping therun early on in the game, but they adjusted, slowed it dow, got a lead, and forced Whitworth to pass.  They were able to drop a lot of guys into coverage because they were getting pressure with a four man rush.

Same 'ol, same 'ol with Mike Allan.  He gets the ball in the first and fourth quarter, all but dissapearing in between.  I guess at around 45 into the game Tully realizes he has a 6'7" player who may go to the NFL.  SJU did nothing special to try and stop him which was smart because they knew Whitworth wasn't gonna go to him very often.

Congrats St. John's.  I think the game is much closer with a healthy Clark (he underthrew everything today), but that doesn't really matter right now does it.  Allright, even though you guys truly are classless assholes when it comes to these message boards, I have a great respect for the SJU following after today.  And even more than I hate SJU I hate Wisconson so go kick some Warhawk ass.

509, sorry to see your team lose today, but congratulations on a fine season.  I missed the broadcast as I was traveling all day.  How about one more cartoon to cap off the season!  :)

Congratulations to Whitworth on a good season.  Just rolled in from the charter flight.  A lot of the Whitworth players that were starters seem to be juniors and sophomores so they will likely be tough again next year.   The Whitworth fans were pretty friendly...at least the ones I met.

Bozo, I would not put the "W" in the bracket just yet.  Hopefully, SJU does not have 7 turnovers this year as last.

509 - Good to see you have the "cajones" to come back on with a good, measured post. Since I only listened on the webcast, all I can say is that the Johnnie announcers were of the opinion that far too many calls, or non-calls, went against the Johnnies. In most cases, we probably see this through our biased lens. The one thing that has been pretty universal was that the officiating crew lacked some skill.

You can't call people classless a..holes, and then say you respect them.

How long has Whitworth been playing in Spokane?

"The offense played terrible."
Best statement you have ever posted.

"... a little goes to some horrendous (at times) play calling..."
Be sure to post Coach Tully's remarks after you call him up and tell him what he did wrong.

Well it was another fun day in the Pine Bowl yesterday, just not the outcome most of the fans wanted.

I was really impressed with the SJU fan turnout.  More even then PLU had at our place in the 2001 playoffs.  And for the most part a really solid group of good people.

The Johnnies were as advertised.  They just plain executed.  They didn't make mistakes.  Talent-wise I don't think there was that much difference.  The Johnnies just made fewer mistakes yesterday and took advantage of Whitworth's.

The only regret - I would've loved to have seen a healthy Clark in the playoffs.

Looking forward to next year in the NWC.  It may be one of the most competitive ever.

Linfield will obviously be good and aiming to get their spot back.  Whitworth's defense comes back almost intact (one DT and one LB graduating).  PLU will have a ton of starters back.  UPS has just gotten better every year.  Willamette remains a mystery to me, and L&C can only be better.

I did back Whitworth, I have all year.  I have questioned some of the playcalling all year even though they've won all of those games up untill this point.  How can you not question not putting the ball into Mike Allan's hands???  I will continue to back them this offseason and next year.  And whats great is that all of this is coming from the guys who ripped on his own players and a certain runningback after Linfield lost to Whitworth.  Oh yeah, maybe you should hold off on that whole phone it in thing until next season when Linfield starts winning games against some tough teams.

Man, I've only been on this board for several months and even I know they call themselves classless a...holes (I like how you censored this, so I'll do it too).  SO do the fans in the MIAC, and the LInfield fans.  All of whom have respect for those guys as fans and have respect for SJU's football program.  Appearently that one flew right over your tiny litttle Wildcat brain.

I hope you aren't trying to be sarcastic, but I'll answer this anyways.  Whitworth has been playing in Spokane for ohhh, 100 years now.  And yet the pirates broke an attendance record (which was probably broken again this saturday) on their homecoming game against LC with a whopping 3,600 people.  That was abouth the average amount of people at my high school games.  They're are around 400,000 people in Spokane and its surrounding area yet Whitworth can only draw a few thousand people?  I just wish the every day football fan in Spokane would be more excited about Whitworth football.  I think more people drive to Cheney every saturday from Spokane to go watch an Eastern game.  In fact Eastern and WSU (they are a d-1 team so this makes sense for them) are publicized more than Whitworth here in spokane...even when Whitworth is the only one left playing.  If Spokane would embrace Whitworth football a little more the games at the Pine bowl would be packed, there would be more tailgaiting, and the atmosphere would be just a whole lot more exiting for everybody.

So I was wrong calling 509, a newbie bandwagon guy? My bad. Is this the return of Rod Farva or AB?
