Some Regional Observations

Since 1999, here are the teams that have reached their Regional finals:
   Mount Union   -  8 times    (8-0).
   St. John's       -   6 times    (4-2)
   Rowan            -  5 times    (4-1)
   Bridgewater    -  4 times    (2-2)
        Linfield            -  4 times    (1-3)
        Trinity              -  3 times    (1-2)

Here are records of those teams that have reached the Stagg Bowl:
   Mount Union            - 6 times    (5-1)
        St. John's                 - 2 times    (1-1)
        UW-Whitewater       - 2 times   (0-2)
        Linfield                     - once       (1-0)
        PLU                          - once       (1-0)
       Bridgewater             - once       (0-1)
     Mary-Hardin Baylor  - once       (0-1)
   Rowan                      - once      (0-1)
   Trinity                       - once       (0-1)

And, the Stagg Bowl, by Regions:
   North        -   6 times   (5-1)     One team
West        -   6 times   (3-3)     Four different teams
South        -   3 times   (0-3)     Three different teams
   East          -    once      (0-1)

These are the elite of Division III.   Of course, Mount Union is in a league by themselves.  St. John's is a distant 2nd best of Division III in the last eight years.   Bridgewater, Linfield, Rowan, Trinity and UW-Whitewater make up the third tier group.

RandP...your son's probably going to float home.
Man! I cannot imagine what it must be like to have the kids done with school, retired from the job, and sitting inside all day while the Alaskan Stream pours it on heavy.

D.O.C.:
Well, the kids are done with school (we have a daughter also), can't retire for another 7 years, and I go deep sea fishing off Mexico every summer. My son left McMinnville Saturday afternoon and it has been dry and clear all the way. He just called from Tonopah, about 45-60 minutes from home.

It was stated during the Stagg Bowl that Coach Larry Kehres of Mount Union asks recruits three questions.
These are NOT them:
How do you tell who is on offense and defense?
Could you tell me what it means when someone says "1st and 10" or "2nd and 2"?
What is a turn over?

Thanks for the schedule, R&P. Lute week for Homecoming. I like it.
Have a good Christmas with your boy being back home permanently.

Warty,
We're doing okay here. We didn't have power for 17 hours, and we lost a huge fir tree, but it didn't land on her house when it crashed in the neighbor lady's yard. It did dent a pickup that was parked in the driveway on the far side of her property, but they were still able to drive it, after they cut the tree away from it.
I've been busy with my chainsaw this weekend. That big tree landed so hard that some of the branches were driven so deeply into the ground that I can't pull them out.

Some of our friends out in the country don't have power yet, and I read on here somewhere that GHC hadn't had power for 3 days, so we're pretty lucky.

Thanks coco. It's going to be GREAT having him home!
I wouldn't mind coming up for the 'Lute game.
We're watching the weather channel to keep up with what's happening up there.
Stay dry and take care.

coco, sorry to hear about the tree. I'm glad nobody was hurt.

Thanks R&P, October 13 and 27 are now marked on my calender! See if I can make one in Mac too!

Tonopah is 45-60 from NOWHERE.  8)

I was under the impression you were in AZ. 60 minutes from Bishop, CA maybe!

coco...the tree splitting must have released some great sap access. Why don't you pitch (ahem) in and send some to warthog. He needs some help with The Guru.

We have a Tonopah in Arizona also. It's located a little west of Buckeye, AZ.

Olinemom,

Nice interview on the Stagg Bowl Pre Game Show today.....you had the entire nation drooling for a brownie!!!
Thanks!!  Pat did a lot of the Pre-game show right from Stone Station.  It was a great time!!  I was fortunate enough to meet so many nice people from both Mount Union and UW-Whitewater.  We had a posters' sign-in board that ended up covered with posters sign-ins!!  ;) ;) I met so many post ers that I'm not sure I have their post names and faces together.  But the tailgate began at 10 am with breakfast and didn't end until 10:30pm when we started to break down the tents and all the gear.  :D  :D
Pat C. talked to a bunch of other people before sticking the micropone in front of me.  I was real nervous.  Hope I didn't sound as dumb as I felt like I sounded.  Did you see Stone Station during the game?  We had the only sign besides the NCAA signs.  We were near the Albion sign on the Whitewater side around the 50 yardline row 1 and 2.  We were a sea of burgundy and gold surrounded by purple and black.  The weekend was a lot of fun.  I had hoped that WW could win, but you can't make mistakes because MUC will exploit them and that's what happened.  They took the momentum back.  It was a good game.  The Commissioner of the ODAC got me in the back gate with the brownies for the teams during the 4th quarter so I was ready when they came off the field.  That way I got to meet Pierre Garcon from MUC and talk to a lot of the WW players, inclding my favorite, Pete Schmitt.    The weekend was a great time.  When are you all coming?  Soon I hope!! ;D ;D ;D
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Tuxguy

Olinemom,

I hope the Cats can make it to the big dance next year so maybe Mrs Tux, Tux Jr and I  can enjoy stone station and all your hospitality. MMMMMM Brownies ;D.  How many did you make this year for the game?

We missed the Interview,  ESPN almost didn't take us to the game because of a Basketball game.  >:(  :( We missed the pregame and were connected just in time for the kick off. Did anyone else have the same problem?
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Tuxguy:
I would love to have the 'Cats back in Salem next year!
Yep, ESPN tuned in after the game started. Guess they thought the interview with Bobby Knight after the basketball game ended was more important.

I'd love a trip to Salem, too. That chicken looked and sounded good!

Warthog, to answer your other question, Olinemom doesn't have a son at Linfield. She's from Bridgewater, but has a soft spot for O-liners (and who doesn't?) and since she knows one of Linfield's OGs, she has been kind enough to send us her delicious brownies twice this season for our tailgaters. We'd like to bring her out here for a game next year.

Dr. Warthog, huh? I guess that means you can retire now and let him support you. You've got it all, don't you? One who is a doctor and the other one who made you a grandpa. LIfe is sweet in Iowa.

Does anyone know how GHC is doing, and if they got power back yet?
