GHC,

Now that's funny!
It does kinda sound like that, and when were all yelling.
Come to think about it, I think I'll have a burger.  ;)

I wanted to thank you for the umbrella, ;) :D It has come in handy a few times!
Just kidding, still wrapped up as you left it. Next time your down give me a call, you might need it when the sun comes out for some shade.
BTW.........Hows your team doing? Got any kids coming our way next year?

Wildcats!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I went to the NCAA D-I first round games at Arco Arena today. Before the UCLA-Weber State game there was a video about NCAA sports played on the jumbo tron. I got a strange look from a number of people as I yelled out, "THAT'S LINFIELD!!" Yes, there was a quick glimpse of what looked like a PAT from the Stagg Bowl.

Also had a lady ask if I was from Mac when she spied my Linfield shirt.

Gig Harbor Cat

Yes, its true boys and girls.

THE CATDOME IS EVERYWHERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tux,
Thanks for watching out for my umbrella.  I think of it every time I get rained on which seems often--go figure  Washington-Rain !!!
As for prospects, not on the baseball side of things.  I have a big lefty pitcher that throws gas, but he will either go in the draft or he will sign with a D-1 school probably UW.  11 has seen him throw up here--I think he was impressed.  I'm working on our football coach to make the Linfield connect.  It seems that Frosty's daughter is one of our new PE teachers at Gig Harbor, so I'm sure she is spreading the EMAL love thing around.
Thats it from here,  I'm in baseball mode right now

Can one of you pirate fans shed some insight as to next yers Pirates team.  I know they are losing some key guys.  We dawg fans are anxious to start the new season.  Cant wait to visit Spokane.  Any hints on where to stay and where to have a nice dinner?

Dick's.  :D

at at dick's and you will actually feel your arteries clog as you eat your meal.  Prospector's is a newer and no more than a 3 minute drive from Whitworth's campus...I like their steak and salmon, and the prices are very reasonable.

Next year's Pirate team will be a little bit of a mystery until after that Redlands game.  They could be even better than they were last year, but no one in that program will know until that first game is finished.  The big question mark is at the QB postion as someone has to fill Clark's shoes.  The defense loses (as of right now) 2 starters, 1 LB and 1 DT, and this is the same defense that only lost one player from the year before and was top 10 in the nation (throughout most of the season) in scoring defense this past season.  The offense is another story.  the o-line loses 2 starters but kitner should be able to replace honeyman at tackle just fine.  The offense also loses Clark and Allan.  New QB has transfered in from WSU, 6'5" 220, he has a cannon and can move, but I have no idea on accuracy and decision making skills.  1st team all conference reciever silva is back, nick koller may or may not be back, and all three runningbacks (ahsing, havercraft, and nelson) are all back.  If the QB position can be filled adequedtly this next year Whitworth again will be up there with Linfield at the top of the NWC and Redlands will yet again fail to pick up a win against the Pirates.  It was great having Allan, he is the best player to ever come through Whitworth but I think the loss of Clark hurts the most for now.  I'm sure pineconefan has something to say about all this too, so hopefully he'll give some insight as well.

(509),

Losing Clark's mobility hurts but losing Allan is going to hurt even more than one would think.  He was the Rats only real consistent big play catching threat.

Whitworth's best bet is that defense making plays like they did last year and the offense not getting in the way.  The Rats will have a big say in the NWC title hunt next year but I do see a drop from last year.

11,

I don't know if losing Allan is going to hurt as much as people think.  Not because of his talent or anything, but because of the fact that the coach didn't get him the ball as much as they should have.  Allan was hardly ever double teamed (even linfield took that taller corner and just spied allan with him, occasionaly cheating the safety over to help), yet he had less catches than Silva.  Yes he had more yards, but part of that was because of the routes he ran compared to Silva.  Allan wasn't really any faster than any of the other true wideouts, but he played a position where more often than not his route was a streak right up the seam...the Safety would often times help elswhere and Allan would be wide open just on a simple go route.  I just don't think Whitworth will lose as much offensive production without Allan as many people expect so long as the QB plays well.   As for the defense...yes, they will end up winning several ballgames for Whitworth and should be able to keep them in just about every game.

OK if you say losing 20 yards per catch, 1100 yards, and 9 TD's isn't going to hurt as much people might think...then you must know something we don't.   I'm sure the Rats will score points but it's tough replacing your best big play option.

UR is in a similar situation.  They had a great defense last year and they only lose 1 guy, I think.  The OC left and I believe they are going to the wide open offense of old that was very effective.  At Qb they have a freshman to be soph who is supposed to be pretty good and a soph to be jr who competed for the starting spot last year so I think either will do fine as long as the play calling is suited for them.

I think you will be surprised this year by UR.  I look forward to hopefully making the trip, I would love to see some of the great NW and meet coco and family.
