Tovio 70 welcome to the Board.....keep those postings coming....A Rat or not we welcome your banter with the Cats, Lutes and Bearkitties.

Speedyboy,
A "name from the past".....Jamie Mayo was clearly one of the best defensive players for the Cats over the past few decades.   It's no wonder that Colony High has had tremendous success since his tenure as Head Coach.....I just hope he sends a few of those young studs to the Catdome to carry on the tradition.

64,
He would have been shortly before my time at PLU.  Interestingly, all three of our Valley "large" school football teams have coaches who played at Linfield.

I am happy to see the stagg bowl stay in salem for the next few years at least. One of the greatest things about my trip to salem was that the whole weekend was about the game- the two towns of salem and roanoke truly embrace the contest, and everywhere you went (especially at night, after a few adult bevvies had been flowing) people wanted to talk to you about Linfiield or the upcoming match-up. It is a big deal and a main attraction in the city, and I would hate to see the game swallowed up by the gaping metropolis of dallas, tx.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Gig Harbor Cat

It would be great to see The Butcher throw to some frickin guys that can catch.  I think he will show well in camp.

Paul Durham, RIP.
He did his job and he did it well.
He started THE STREAK and our job is to see that it keeps on keeping on.

GOD bless "Coach"---- a great one has passed but he has left a legacy that will always be remembered!

I for one, will never forget the memorable trip to the Camellia Bowl in 1961 --- Linfield arrived on the National Stage because of Coach Durham!
LEAVE NO DOUBT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Former University of Hawaii athletic director Paul Durham died late Friday in Honolulu of natural causes. He was 93.

Durham was the UH athletic director from 1968 to 1975. He is a member of the UH Circle of Honor and the Linfield Athletics Hall of Fame. He was football coach at Linfield College for 20 years.

"We went to see him yesterday, but I wasn't sure if he was aware we were there," said Liz Rathburn, a friend from the Honolulu Quarterback Club. "He passed away overnight."

The Tuxguy family would like to send our condolences to the Durham Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

He was a special man and one heck of a Coach.

He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

The Wildcat Nation thanks you for all you have done "Coach"!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I'm at a loss for words. He was indeed a special man.
His last year at Linfield was my freshman year, and I'll never forget him.
And has any one of us ever heard a more entertaining speaker? He had an incredible wit, even when he was getting up in years.
This is a loss to the whole Linfield community, not just the football fans.
My sympathies go out to the Durham family.
Two words:  THE STREAK

Johnnie Red

Condolences from the Johnnie nation to the Durham family and the Linfield community. Coco, it had to be an honor to play for coach Durham.

Coach Durham speaking about June Jones:

"I just mentioned to Ben (Yee, Na Koa booster club vice president), it's amazing so many people came to hear him talk," former UH athletic director Paul Durham said.

Wait a minute. Stop. Kalani, is your column every Tuesday simply going to be a recap of Paul Durham's jokes?

Maybe.

Depends on the jokes.

But back to the program. Durham was recalling the year and a half before Jones was hired, when UH was in the midst of its horrid 0-18 streak:

"We, as members of the Quarterback Club, became distraught," he said.

"That's a great word, 'distraught,' " Durham continued.

"I don't know how to spell it. And I don't know what it means ..."
