The SOU Raiders pre-game story is posted on their website:
Interesting article on their assessment of the game.

Nice preview...that dude needs to put down the thesaurus!  I wonder who is projecting Elliott to be a 1st round NFL pick ???  They need to lighten up on the hippie lettuce down there!  I looked up "skein", by the way and it doesn't seem to fit as a substitute for "streak."  Can I get some help on that!  I guess we can't expect much from a place so close to the City of Weed, CA.

Speaking of hope for SOU in the Linfield game that gives us our 50 in O5 I am reminded of my great teacher Stewart Emery's definition of hope.
"Hope is the belief that some source external to ourselves is going to come along and save our a$$. There is no hope". That's particularly true for SOU vs. the Cats next Saturday. They are are no more going to be upset by SOU than Mt. Union will be upset by Marietta this weekend.

If I can borrow a phrase from my friend GHC, "Cats in a Rout".

Looks like a Bearcat and Wildcat week for POW honors.  The Bearcats should hit the ground running (and passing) in two weeks with all the momentum they've built up so far. :)

Oct. 10
Offensive Player of the Week: Casey Allen (Linfield, Sr., WR, Newport, Ore.-Newport) caught eight passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the Wildcats' win at Whitworth. He leads the NWC in receiving yards and scoring.
Honorable Mention: Michael Plank (Willamette, Sr., WR); Joel Clark (Whitworth, Jr., QB); Andy Carlson (UPS, Sr., QB); Chase Reed (PLU, So., WR); Mike Wennerlind (L&C, So., WR).

Defensive Player of the Week: Megdy Khoury (Willamette, Sr., LB, Elko, Nev.-Elko) led the Bearcats with 11 tackles, including 2.5 for losses of ten yards. He broke up three passes and also recovered a fumble.
Honorable Mention: Brandon Olson (Linfield, Sr., LB); Mac Gebbers (UPS, So., DB); Justin Wojciechowski (PLU, Jr., LB); Austin Richard (Whitworth, Sr., NT).

Special Teams Player of the Week: Wesley Randall (Willamette, DB, Los Angeles, Calif.-Cathedral) blocked a pair of punts, including one that led directly to Willamette's first touchdown.
Honorable Mention: Garrett Wales (Linfield, Sr., K); Brian Ames (UPS, So., P).

DT48,

I guess that the SOU SID is really trying to build up this game as a huge chance at the big upset.

SOU is not a 0-5 team in the sense that Menlo is an 0-5 team.  SOU has some players and Raider Stadium is always a tough place to play.

I'm sure that the knuckleheads in Ashland look at this game as their last chance to make a spash at the national level.  Expect to see BF Boomer Marshall and the Raiders to go to the passing game early and often.

Kenneth K,

Where are you? Our board is far too quiet without you posting.

We are your friends over here.  If I can again quote my great teacher Stewart Emery, "Surround yourself with friends who support your essence as a person but none of your BS". It is in that spirit we are your friends.

Please stop in to say hello and anything else that's on your mind.  As you know however, we make it a point to keep you honest. Whatever you do don't predict a SOU upset of the Cats or you'll be right back where you left off.  :o

I definately would agree on that WC, they always have some players!  They aren't your typical O'fer team.  SOU seems to be improving each week, but I don't think their defense is quite up to speed yet, particularly in the secondary which is about the last place you want to be soft against Linfield.  Linfield D will step up and SOU doesn't have any weapons like Bobby "it's all over" Poetl this year.

CC:  Okay, can't resist such a polite invitation.  No way Linfield looses.  I have been saying all along Cats go undefeated.  I am a bit curious how Whitworth managed to outgain the Cats as did PLU if I'm not mistaken.  That would indicate that a good offense can move the ball on the Linfield D.  Or were all those yards gained on back-ups?  Anyway, the plot thickens for the dream match-up that I know some of you Cat fans desire.  The J's have been playing determined football.  Most of the posters on the MIAC board like St Johns by a couple of scores this week at CC and I concure.  If that happens, then we get two out of three at home and the J's should be in the tournament, probably with a couple of home games.  Lacrosse and Whitewater look tough from the WIAC so it will be a big challenge but the J's seem up to the task.  McMinnville is still in the long term plan.  So what do know about Oxy's season as far as level of competition they have played?  Are they going to be a contender for the West title?

Oxy...west region champs...In a word...NO.

They've got Lewis and Clark and the Colorado School of the Blind on their non-conference schedule...

Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Gig Harbor Cat

Typical write up for the University of Ashland.  They just need to pick a score and phone it in.  They are way ot of their league this time

KK,

It is nice to have you back as a visiting dignitary to our board.

I'm also glad to see we are making a believer of you.  I'm no football expert and will leave the nuances of the gave to the many of my Wildcat brothers who are.

I will say though that Whitworth played us very tough last week.  They did score on us far more than anyone else to date and those were not garbage points. Correct me but I don't think we put in our subs till quite late in the game.  Whitworth is a very good team I thought. Joel Clark has lots of receivers and can run the ball. That makes it tough on any opponent.  I did not see the game but listened on the Internet.

I want to limit my comments so as to to give any harbor to any future opponents but they do of course have access to game films.

You are starting to sound like a serious and credible football mind. Can you thank us per chance for helping to season you? ;)

A SJS Vs. Linfield game would be great for all of us this year.
If it is to happen, "May the Best Team Win"?

downtown48,

There is an analysis on the "top 25" discussion board  showing that Oxy has a stronger schedule than Linfield.  ;)

Gray Fox,  I'd think a case can be made for lots of teams having a much tougher schedule than we do this year.

Tux Guy,
I would align with your comments that the Green Lettuce in the hills of Ashland must be impacting some folks down at Ashland U.  I had not heard BE was going to be a first round draft pick until I read the pronouncement in the Raider pregame write up.  The only thing I can figure is that the SID reasoned that if Alex Smith was Brett's back up QB at Utah and Alex was a first round pick last year, then that makes Brett a first round pick next year.  I've never seen how it quite works like that but again the Green Lettuce impact makes people say the strangest things!
