And his punt return for a touchdown? :)

Call me crazy but I think WC11 knows the NWC conference better than the All American voters.

Pat Coleman

Perhaps. But since he's pushing for a Linfield guy it's hard to consider him objective. :)

Tuxguy

Just my 2 cents,

In League play, Blum's p/return stats were Menlo 1 for 2yds, Linfield 1 for 3 yrds
PLU, 0/0 Whitworth 0/0...L&C 1 for 9yrds , WU, 1 for 0 yrds  (from the UPS website)
objective.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Pat Coleman

Those are all great things that we would be glad to take into account for a postseason team. But in the preseason, it's a projection.

Let's not get our panties in a bunch...we need to give the Texas boys some Catdome hospitality then just roll through the conference, avenge that debacle that was Whitworth and make some noise in the playoffs.   Besides...I'd rather nobody knew anything about our good guys until they're looking at his back while he's going 97 yards for a touch!  I'm thinkin' I'd much rather get stiffed in the preseason than in the postseason.

By the way...was that TT that had WC11 back right their???  Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria!!!

[counter]Ok...how many of Blum's TD returns were vs teams over .500?[/counter]  We could do this all day PC.

DT,

You know...you're right.  These pre-season lists are fun to debate but I want the team W's way more.

TLT,

Thanks for the props about the brew fest blog.  If you want to come out to it next year I'll go rent a cot from the Y so you have a place that feels like home.  ;)

Pat Coleman

True.

I just feel the punt return for a touchdown is a much harder feat to accomplish than the kickoff return for a touchdown.

Yea no problem WC11.  I am still perplexed as to why my post (which was entirely cordial and endearing) vanished into thin air.  The censorship continues...

That may have been your version of cordial and endearing but I took it otherwise, given your past speech on the subject.

An incoming Linfield recruit was quoted in an article in the Chico Enterprise Record about a just-played Lions Club all-star game:

South Looks For Lions Game Bragging Rights

QuoteWhat impresses Gridley High alum and All-Section second-teamer Simon Lamson is that he finally gets the chance to see some of the players he's only heard and read of. He will start at tailback tonight.

"It's fun getting to know all these guys," said Lamson, who will be attending Linfield College in Oregon. "We watched them all year long and read about them in the papers."

As for the game, Lamson had 17 carries for 122 yards, had touchdown runs of 16 and 18 yards, and was named MVP.

South Dominates North At Lions All-Star Game

OxyBob

Bob, Lamson played a great game. MVP could have gone to Jordan Rodgers the QB, brother of Packer QB Aaron Rodgers, who had over 200 yards passing. Good luck to him at Linfield. Breaking in will be tough as a freshman. Probably alot of scout team work.

Hey criswyly...thought you'd be pleased to see Jim Massey is going into the LINFIELD Hall of Fame.

I am.

I am also very pleased Jay Buse is going to get that honor. IMO he was THE toughest defensive end I was able to see at the college.

Wildcat11....since Pat thinks punt touchdowns are cooler than kick off touchdowns ...I'm sure he and all the Whitworth fans would love to see a clip of Mike Kooney's (I think it was him) punt return for a touchdown a few years ago when Whitworth thought they had the game won at the CatDome.... and then we played a little trick on them with the punt return and WE won!

coco

WC11,
Have you shown that punt return for a TD of Cooney's yet? It wasn't that long ago, maybe just a few years after you played.
Two words:  THE STREAK

criswyly

DO.C.  Jay Buse was definetly a stud...and a great person as well...Do you know what he does these days?  Jim Massey was....well, Jim Massey...not many better than him at our level.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!
