Wow! Olinemom gets away to the Northwest for the South-West match-up. Wouldn't blame her at all if she kept her Dixie sentiments until a West-North game in Salem,VA.

Tuxguy! better dig in the closet for that bracelet! Mine is here in plain sight.
Onelinemom probably wouldn't care if I presented it to Pat for a welcome token.

We hope we have good weather for you, Olinemom.

Word on the street is that Victor Felipe, the Ducks' DE who quit the team last week, is going to WOU. He could be a force to be reckoned with.

I notice the Cats 2007/2008 roster is posted on the Linfield website.  It looks like the long football tradition is well in hand with the list of Freshman.  The freshman class is "impressive" to say the least.  Take a little time to read the bios on each of the young Cats and it certainly make you feel like the program is stacked with quality athletes.  I lost count when reading the number of new Cats that were Captains of their teams....All State, All Region,etc.,etc.Good mix of athletes from Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaii (of course).  Also many dual sport student/athletes.  Appears like we will see many of these kids during Baseball and Track seasons as well.  Even some star athletes in football and basketball.  Certainly an impressive class and many kudos to Clyde Powell and the other recruiters.....great job!

LEAVE NO DOUBT IN 2007!!!

Good looking class coming into Linfield. Lamson is going to be very good. Gridley plays tough, hard nosed football as does most of the Northern Section in California. I sure hope Redlands and Linfield hook back up on the schedule next year.

RFB,

Good to hear from you, just make sure the phone gets answered and maybe we can connect again.
Seems the calls to your AD have gone unanswered the past few years.  ???

Is it the 8th yet?

Olinemom, this is a special treat, you will not be disappointed. We all Look forward to seeing and welcoming you to Wildcat Country.

coco, you know it never rains in September here in Oregon.........that was Hawaii.
See you soon!!! :D :D

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

What are you doing up so late, Tux?

I was thinking the same thing -- that we'd like to play Redlands again.

Everybody get out your bracelets!
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

I heard that wou players are ending practice with the ever-festive "personal foul drill" where they come up with new and inventive ways to get 15 yard penalties. Plain old spearing is getting old to them, I guess.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Gig Harbor Cat

Hey Tux,
Make sure you dig out my umbrella.  I will need it because when the Cats take the field the forcast is, as usual, heavy rain of purple frisbees !!!

Phone it in

Well, I'll be damned. I've got a nephew with the same name as Kelley Bertrand's dog.

That's a great article about a Wildcat standout.

coco,

I couldn't sleep with the anticipation of Keith's around the nation coming out and wanted to catch the first glimpse of it.........nice job Keith!
Seriously, was working on a project and had to check in for my D3 fix for the night.

GHC,

How long ago was that? I'd better start looking. Sure did get wet at the Whitworth game, maybe it's dry by now!!  ;) ;)

Lever Street

Go Cats!

Let's hear some predictions on Linfield's W-L record this season.   Can they go undefeated?

Go Linfield!
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

I'm thinking it could range anywhere from 7-2 to 9-0.  The key games will be WOU and Hardin-Simmons.  I don't think that Whitworth will have the tools to get the job done this year.  If we take care of business in the first two games, and don't get complacent, it could be another run into the playoffs.  For those of you closer to the program, how is Coach Smith doing?  My thoughts after seeing the Hardin-Simmons game last year was that the team was searching for it's own identity, kind of leaderless, searching.  I hope things go better in his second season.

Being close to the program (living in the McMinnville area) I can say that things have been going great.  The staff and players were put in a very tough position last season on a number of fronts.

Sometimes I feel that people forgot about Coach Locey's first few years at Linfield (the dark years) when we were 5-4, 6-3, 7-2, 6-3.  It took a few years for Coach Locey to get players he wanted and move the program in the direction he felt was best.

I don't think it will take 4 years for Coach Smith because this season has potential to be steller but I don't think we will see the complete vision of Linfield football under Coach Smith until a few years out.

In terms of this year...WOU is no joke.  Their biggest strenghs (O-Line, D-Line) is playing into our unknown areas and of course HSU is a bigger game in my mind because it's a top 15 D3 match-up.  If we come out of those games in good shape then I really feel we'll be a big player in the West this season.
