Brett Elliott has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL on their practice squad:

Apparently "pivot" is QB north of the border. Good for BE, although trading San Diego in for Hamilton doesn't sound too appetizing.

Reading about those other players that Hamilton signed really makes me realize how hard it is to get to the NFL- an all big 12 selection and a pretty good (numbers wise) starter from a pac-10 team on practice squads in canada.  David Allen should be proud...

Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Anybody listening online this weekend?  Dens has offered graciously to give me phone updates but I don't think I'll be able to take advantage in the middle of our family event.  However, if anybody will be sitting by their computer listening I would love it if you might email me an update every so often.  Anybody willing let me know so I can give you the address for my cellphone.

:)

Go Cats!

be glad to. i sent you a private email. send me back the info.

Was Don Hansen ever an NCAA coach?  The only reason I ask is that some of the ranking in his poll resemble those of this weeks NCAA (DI) coache's poll...

26. Auburn
27. South Florida

Last week...USF beat Auburn, AT Auburn by a score of 26-23.  ???

Olinemom update: She is in the house. I picked her up last night, and she and Mrs. C went shopping in Salem today. She brought Stone Station T-shirts for all of us, and I wore mine today.

She is planning to make brownies for the game.

GHC, we're sorry you won't be at the game. Olinemom really wanted to meet you. When you said you're moving, are you downsizing to a single-wide now that the kids are gone, or upgrading to a longer double-wide?

D3 crew....
Your research is more than likely thorough and your timing set by the minute but I thought I'd throw out a Division III tourist itinerary...

If you go through downtown Portland to Interstate 5 south, instead of bypassing downtown Portland, you can get off I-5 at Terwilliger Blvd. as you're climbing up out of the Willamette River bed and you can take 10 minutes to see Lewis & Clark. It's an easy get-back onto the Interstate.
When taking Hwy. 99 west to McMinnville you will pass on the edge of George Fox. It's impossibly easy to take a 5-minute right turn onto their campus for a look/see. They DO have a national championship. You're  only 30 minutes from the LINFIELD campus at that point, solely because of the wine trap you next encounter called Dundee.

Safe travels!

Wildcat'64

Coco,
Glad to hear you have Olinemom in tow and she is enjoying her time in Wildcat Land.  Unfortunately I'll be positioned at my computer for the H/S game rather than being at the Catdome.  You'll be happy to know that I did go silver salmon fishing the other day and our boat brought in 30 silvers.  I had some smoked so we'll be sure to bring a few samples to the PLU Tailgater when we are next scheduled to be in Wildcat Land.
Hopefully Olinemom's brownies bring us a big victory on Saturday!!!

WC'64, your smoked salmon is the best. Man, I love that!

Olinemom went to the Linfield bookstore today and supported the college generously. The woman in charge of the bookstore responded by giving her a 20% discount because she's a visiting professor.

Mr. Coco picked me up in Portland last night and we cruised on in to McMinnville.  The flights went very well indeed.  Delta was great on the way out!!  Today Mrs. Coco and I went first to campus so I could buy a few items at the bookstore.  Wow, there were so many shirts and hats to choose from.  I have already got an outfit for Saturday so I am ready.  Of course I have to have my Eagle on for my BC guys but I have all my Linfield attire ready as well.  We got to Salem today and shopped our way across town.  The "Made in Oregon" shop had so many beautiful gift ideas.  Lucky I already have my ticket back or I might have to hitch hike!  We are planning to go to the coast tomorrow.  I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends to show me around such a gorgeous state. :) :) And the weater is lovely this week.  Tomorrow evening I am going to bake some chocolate brownies and some chocolate raspberry brownies for the tailgate on Saturday. (I will fix a plate for Pat C and K Mack (congrats on RMC's great start this fall!)  Then on Friday Mr. Coco is going to take the Mrs. and me up to the Gorge and Mount Hood.  This is such a wonderful experience for me.  And I am looking forward to the tailgate on Saturday to put real people together with some snapshots I have gotten and post names I have been writing to for a long time.  My colleague who is taking my classes answered my text message by saying that he had told me not to think or worry at all about BC and my classes the whole time.  Everybody should have a great colleague like that!!  Can't wait to see you all (Yes I really do say that and have this ridiculously southern accent) this Saturday!! ;D ;D ;D
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

DUNDEE - what a reminder, D.O.C. About the only thing I don't miss about Oregon & Mac is having to travel through Dundee in order to go to Portland - or any place north. When I first moved to Mac, someone told me Dundee was the worst bottleneck in the state. It did not take long to realize that there is no doubt about that dubious distinction.  I have been following the progress of the by-pass (that locals told me has been discussed for decades) since I moved in Jan. of '06. Sounds like it is once again a dead issue.

Onlinemom, I know you are having a great time enjoying one of the most beautiful states in America. And don't even describe the weather; I can well imagine. We are still cooking in Louisiana - 94 degrees  yesterday with 90 percent humidity. While  lots of rain is in the forecast due to a tropical storm (low grade hurricane) in the Gulf of Mexico, it won't cool things off much. The weather man says it will just make our weather more tropical  ::).  When the humidity is high, which is most of the time in La., my wife says, "Remind me again, why did we leave Oregon?"

Enjoy the hospitality of the your Cat hosts, and the great atmosphere on Saturday as you watch Linfield take care of HSU (UMHB's most intense rival).

Lever Street

Olinemom,

You will love the Gorge and Mt. Hood.  It is among the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen, and I've traveled through most of the U.S.

I'll be at Catdome on Saturday.  I expect the CAT offense to be quite effective.  Our D will have a challenge on it's hands covering their wideouts.  Might be high scoring.  I predict the CATS win 34-21.

Go Linfield!
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

Pat,

I guess you made other plans to get picked up at PDX, I had the Tuxedo Limo on reserve. I guess I can film Tux Jr.s first home game of the year Friday now.

Safe travels and see you at the game.

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!

Good luck to the 'Cats at home against Hardin-Simmons this Saturday!  Kick ass for the west coast.  Understand you'll be having some VIPs in attendance.

Leave no doubt.
