We are lucky to have such a great broadcast team. Darrell is a pro. He has the experience at the D1 level and the awards from his peers to provie it. Period. And Dave does a great job with the color. I would take these guys any day over some of the bush league crap I hear from the opponents' broadcast team. I sometimes kid them about giving the Rice score too often, but I actually like to hear the other scores.

Sorry, back2back, I'm going to disagree on that one.  I've listened to many D3 broadcasters over the last few years, and I think most of them do a pretty good job on the play-by-play.  They also seem to be more "into" the game and their team's in general.  Of course, Daryl is better than no one at all, I just wish that he cared more about the Wildcats.

Does anyone feel like this season is a little less intense than usual? It seems like Linfield is just ticking off the games until the post-season.  It may be that the teams that used to challenge Linfield - PLU, SOU, Willamette - are having down years so there's no BIG games to look forward to until the playoffs.  We just expect the 'Cats to demolish their opponents every game and it's a disappointment if they don't win by 30+.

Note:  This is purely from a fan's perspective - I hope the players are taking it one game at a time...... etc. etc.

Thoughts?

Congrats to Linfield and all the Wildcat fans on the 50th consecutive winning season. Thank God the Johnnies pulled it out Saturday in Cobberville. Still hoping we will be making the trip to McMinnville on December 2 for the West Region championship. I can see it now, "50th consecutive winning season, fourth consecutive loss to the Johnnies in post-season play." Two records to be extremely proud of. :o

Dear John,  I listen to your game and without a cobb breakdown on the last play your J's would be in 2nd place right now. So you have lots to smile about.

Plus you got the front page for that  last play, and all the cats got for setting a new NCAA RECORD FOR THEIR 50 YEAR WIN STREAK WAS ONE SENTENCE..  So it was a win , win..  ???

Jojn, Just have your meat ready, it's not over yet. And the cats well be waiting in McMinnville for you both...  Just think Central and J's in the quest for another Ring... Does it get any better?

Again, Great Job to all the Cats for settling a new NCAA Record 50 years in a row..  And counting ;D

50 in 05  AND STILL THE ONLY UNDEFEATED NATIONAL CHAMPION IN D3..   GO CATS

This season does seem less intense. Way less. The playoffs will be much more intense though.
CatinWi- Are you listening to WI d3 games? I have heard many d1 broadcasters that are worse than Daryl. WashU, the local team, only has college kids doing the games. That is bad.

I have listened to every game for going on three years, and I would not have any other announcers. The Dean of announcers has good insight, Daryl has a great td call. Not sure what is so "wrong" with them.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

I could understand how you guys would feel that the season is not as "intense" because the expectations are so dang high.  However, I just hope that Linfield fans will fully appreciate the strength of this team because next year is going to be a waaaaay different with the loss of so many explosive playmakers.

This scariest part about this team is that they have room to improve and get better.  That is something to be excited about for the fans and crappy for teams that have to face Linfield.

For Linfield, they have something to prove this weekend vs. UPS.  The Loggers held Linfield to their lowest output last season and the Loggers touted that point all off-season.  I'm sure that the 'Cats will want to really drive the point home at homecoming.

Does anyone know the extent of the injury to the SOU player that was taken off the field with 2min to go?  I certainly hope that he is okay...never like to see injuries like that...especially during garbage time.

Most classic moment of the game...85 for SOU comes across the middle and gets absolutely hammered...biggest hit I have seen in a long time.  Some how he holds onto the ball...great catch.  Gets to his feet...gives the Sunday First Down Chop...15 yard personal foul...going back the other way...classic.

Second classic part of the SOU game was when Linfield ran a reverse and Elliott pealed back and decleated a SOU DB.  The sideline when nuts when #5 leved that DB.

I know that to the team, the season is no less intense. Right now, for me, the season seems to be a 10 week wait until the playoffs and the time when the intensity is taken up a few notches. When i sit down to listen to the games, I can't honestly convince myself that a team like sou even has a chance. Do not get me wrong- I love kicking the crud out of teams that like to talk smack, but I have yet to nervously pace around the living room like the norm.

Sta of the Day: Turnover margin!
Linfield +14
plu -10.
Ouch.

Linfield is also 27-31 in the redzone. Double ouch for the D that has to defend that.

Seriously???!!! Weren't they playing to control the clock even when they were down by 19 in that game?  Oh well, everyone has to have something to be proud of, I guess.

Spirit - I mostly listen to game through D3football.com - NWC games, St. John's, or the WIAC games.  Like I said, the announcers just seem to care more than Daryl does.

OK, I've said my piece on the Linfield broadcast team, I'll let it drop now.

Cat#4

Great job Cat's, Congratulations on another Winning Season, 50 consecutive; glad I was a part of it. Wish it could have happened at home, probably cheaper of the college that it wasn't (Goal post and all). The last time those things came down someone almost didn't have a neck, man that was scary to watch!!

For discussion on the board:

Does anyone think that this team may be a little too confident?

I've never been a fan of the, "we don't get to emotional because we're so confident and we know that we're going to win" attitude. I've always felt that leaves teams open for an average team that plays with a high level of emotion to come in and beat them.

Thoughts?

I agree, WI. They "held down" Linfield by simply sitting on the ball. The bad football version of the elongated four corners. Well, we all need a place to hang our hats I guess.

Thoughts on PLU/SOU? I saw plu, heard sou, and I would think that the lutes will take this one. In fact, I even will be rooting for them. There pass offense is better due to actualu qb mobility and their quick d will give sou's awful offense problems.

WI- Oh yeah, no big deal. I know that Daryl/Dean are not the best at keeping track of the game. I guess it is a situation where they are clearly not the best announcers, but they are my favorite! I bag on them as much as anyone.

#4- You would know better than me how overconfidence translates to the field, but I do not think any bout of overconfidence could lead the 'cats to lose to ups, menlo et al. Maybe in the playoffs, but I think they will buckel down by then.

Personally I don't think that SJU will make it to McMinnville.  They are getting by but not by much.
