Gig Harbor Cat

Let me be the first to say that the Cats are a +37 all day long !!!!

D O.C.

OK. I can get some shut-eye before heading out to see Occidental-Redlands.

How'd you guys like the new rocket?

MonroviaCat

Cats got lucky today against "the best team in the country"... LOL  :P
Go Cats!

Lever Street

CAT D played well today.  Nice to see Linfield running the ball so well also.

Final score......Linfield 37, UPS 0
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

So I am asking myself....did our running game improve that much because of our play or because of the ineptness of UPS or a mix of both?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Congrats to the Linfield sports staff for the new video streaming.  It was tremendous and was a great production.  The quality was great and the instant replays and camera angles were far superior to what Whitworth is doing with their video streaming.  Great job....and Thank You!!

GO CATS....One Game At A Time
LEAVE NO DOUBT

A huge thank you to MonroviaCat. We need to meet up sometime so I can treat you to a beer at least for all the updates you've sent my way.

Sounds like the Cat running game improved, cool.

Menlo looked much better today. Despite the score, L&C looked better than they did last year when I saw them against the Cats. The demeanor and comments on the bench of the Pios bodes well if they can just get the horses. Never down and always palying hard right up to the last play of the game. They had a big run for a TD, the kid was fast and their wide recievers are tall. The Oaks were more athletic and were pumped as this was their hall of fame game and they honored the 1987 team that ment to the playoffs. The kids wanted to impress.

Speedybigboy,

Whitworth got complacient in the 2nd half....why not run the ball and chew clock when you're up by four touchdowns.  Only two big offensive plays for PLU, one a long bomb that you fumbled in the first quarter and two, a very well designed hook and ladder towards the end of the fourth quarter.  We threw the ball NINE TIMES ALL GAME!  PLU got momentum the last 7 minutes of the game thats all.  Afterglows are really precious when you lose  ;D

Thoughts on the Bucs/Lutes game...

Anderson was better to me than I even expected, he was better than anyone that PLU had on defense and they could hardly stop him when we ran zone left/zone right the entire game...so congratulations on your half time adjusments of putting 9 in the box when we had a 28-0 lead.  I got pretty scared when the ref signaled that PLU picked up that 2nd onside kick, I learned that he said black ball and just signaled the wrong way however.  The Lute QB got rattled by the pressure all day long, the ball he threw before the half that led to a Pirate touchdown was absolutely attrocious.  The success that PLU had in the 4th quarter occured when we stopped bringing the heat, wondering what would have happened if we kept sending people?  By the way...Toivo is right...9 passes all game against the #1 rushing d I believe and we still put up 28, I'll take the win.   The Lutes did play with class, I did almost puke watching their warmups however.  Lets keep everyone healthy against the Pio's next week, wish it was a home game so everyone could play.  63-0

Great job by the coaching staff/players of the Wildcats in coming back with a vengeance against the loggers.  Hope you take care of business until you come to Spokane.

Thanks to the Cat SID for an outstanding job on the Video.  It was awesome.  Mojo and I really enjoyed watching the Cats bring another one home.

Stille waiting for the Pirates to string 4 full quarters of football together against a quality opponent (I don
't count La Verne and Menlo).  I really don't like Whitworth's game management when they go into halftime with a good size lead against good competition.  Its what kep them out of the playoffs in '04 and '05 when they lost to Willamette after blowing halftime leads.  Like one of the Whitworth posters said earlier, PLU simply put 9-10 in the box and read run.  Now I understand running some of the clock, but you also have to get first downs and if you're run/play-action combo are working nicely in the first half why abandon them?  But then again, its always been my opinion that you can't just run the ball and play keep away against a good team...you give the other team good field position, and in Whitworth's case today you fail to score ANY points in the ENTIRE second half.  But my hats off to PLU...they never gave up.  My hats also off to Gordon who continues to prefer Whitworth's DB's over his own recievers.

P.S. if any Whitworth coaches stumble upon this post before Linfield week...get a real NICKEL package!  Don't just keep your 3-4 Defense in and put Grow in coverage...put in an extra DB, someone who can actually cover.  Thats the whole point of haveing nickel, to defend against the pass!

First let me say thanks to everyone involved in the Whitworth web feed of the game. Nicely done and it was great to be able to watch the contest. The play-by-play guy was excellent and balanced. Congrats to the Pirates on a well played game. The stud running back, punter/field position, play action to the TE, and pressure/takeaways were too much in that first half. It'll be interesting to see where both teams go from here.

I am beginning to think that Adam Anderson is the best Pirate running back I've seen in the Pine Bowl in the last 20 years, and that is including the names Linden and Putney.  His combination of strength and speed is really fun to watch.  And with the way the o-line is improving this season, the Bucs will continue to pound the ball.
