Oh tuxguy, why do you do this to me? You ask a question like that and my brain goes into ultra wanna-know mode until there is an answer. Must be 105 (Justin Peery, Westminster, Mo - 51 in '98 and 54 in '99). There, now I can sleep tonight.

Anyone remember that article The Oregonian ran last year about this same time stating that by most accounts the best QB in Oregon played in McMinnville? I think they were right at that point in time, but the Ducks and probably Clemens had a pretty down year. This year they, and Clemens, are playing very well and he would probably have to get the close nod. Still plenty of time left in the season, however.

Maybe as interesting is if anyone can think of a receiver in the state, other than NFL bound OSU's Mike Hass, who would be given the nod over 6-3 , 225 lb. Casey Allen.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Wildcat11...I take it you don't agree that an Alumni vs. JV Team during the bye week would be a good fundraiser. Sorry if I missed your comment on that idea. Maybe you like playing on Monday nights better...  ;D

Anyway....the Wildcats play their last home game this Saturday....any chance of getting 10 games next year to make up for the fact that we only had 8 this year? I'd like to schedule SJU and maybe Mount Union, Central, Wartburg or Western Washington as non league games. Maybe UMHB or Oxy would be good to.... :-*   or maybe we'll only have 6 or 7 games next year if everybody is too scared.

I would love it if UMHB made the trip to McMinnville. They have had a good series with Willamette. It would be wonderful to show the folks from Central Texas a great time in Mac and then enjoy some excellent D3 football. It would be a definite win-win proposition for me.

However, the trip to Texas would not be nearly as rewarding for the Linfield fans. While Belton is a nice community - and I enjoyed the time I spent there -  it does not offer nearly as much as Mac does. Plus, the weather in Central Texas during the early part of the season - well even now - is hot and humid.

It will probably never happen, but it is nice to speculate about.

The series with HSU should be interesting. I will enjoy rooting for the Cats against UMHB's arch rival.

I like this, let's everybody be nice to each other thing we got going on this board, or maybe the linfield guys are right, maybe this season has no suspence what so ever.   Ding ding ding... you are correct.... who the heck is going to beat you and your band of guys who could be playing D2 or 1AA football or higher, ( obviously Elliot)  what is everyone else supposed to do.  Maybe play with 14 guys on defense and see what happens.  UPS has DB's that wouldn't start at most high schools, #6 is atrocious, anyway sorry PENNSTLBU you are a good guy and we are both from MT but that is a fact.  The only games that fans are sweating are games the Wildcats are not in.  I mean at least USC is getting pushed this season, The butcher and CO. could sit in the lockeroom for the first half and come out for the second if need be for most games.  And Linfield and WHithworth both have bye weeks before they play that fly offense at Willamette so they have 13 plus days to get ready for WU and the fighting Mark Speckmans.  Let's just wait out the season and cheer for the Cats in the Playoffs and hope they make the NWC look good.. Although I do think that if the NWC sent 3 per year to the playoffs and it was not done by region, anybody could play anybody, the NWC would just rip the east coasters, I mean 52-0 over Rowan, WU, Whit, anybody else played the CATS better last year, are you kidding me, lets jump the east coast D3 bandwagon.  While the NWC record and league may seem down don't jump ship yet.  WU is 3-3, they lost to D2 WOU, NAIA #3 preseason Azusa and #2 UMHB, at a place where the GPA flows like wine and is much higher than Linfields average, 3-3 is like winning the National title right know.  they are 2-1 against D3 teams and if they win there next two they will finish 4-2 against D3 teams with losses to #1 Lin and #2 UMHB Not bad and I am willing to guess Azusa and WOU would do pretty well in the midwest and east coast D3 conferences.  Anyway sorry for taking so long, I will end with that, by the way how is coach august doing, any word on his recovery??? Until then I just can't wait for another D1 transfer to come to the NWC, maybe lin can have Eric AInge drop into their collective lap and win 3 more titles.......

Kellen Clemens is the best QB in Oregon.  Elliot is a stud, but your being naive if you think Brett is more talented than Kellen.

Clemens is finally playing to his potential.  By some, he was rated the best QB at the elite 11 camp back about five years ago.  He keeps getting better, plus he's tough as nails.

I will give Elliot this, he may be a more talented passer than Kellen, meaning, he throws  a better ball, might have better touch, but like I said, Clemens just keeps getting better.

I thought the comparison for Clemmens and Elliot would be a healthy debate on here.

You can only predict beating the rest of the league by 50pts. game for so long before it gets awfully boring.

Do not worry, Dark Harvets. The Eric Ainge to Mac bandwagon is already gassing up.

Haven't been on the board in a long time, but my two cents worth is that Linfield will put more points on the board this weekend than any other game this season.

Desertcat1...Getting to be that time of year when we can get out in the sun without burning. Too bad UPS will end up being fried by BE and company this weekend.

That article by Meehan saying the best QB was in McMinnville was fairly ignorant. Derek Anderson -- despite his many picks -- went to three bowls in three years and won two Civil Wars and passed for more than 11,000 yards in PAC-10 play. He wasn't lighting up Lewis & Clark and UPS, he was playing against high level, 4.3 40 DBs every single week. And that's what Kellen Clemens is doing now. How Meehan could make a D3 to D1 comparison is beyond me.

That said, I do think Brett Elliott is a fantastic QB and will get some sort of pro tryout, be it the NFL, Canada, or NFL Europe. I think he should go to Europe and hone his skills. I've seen too many quality college QBs get thrown to the wolves in the NFL only to flame out. Derek Anderson is a classic example there. He's third-string in Cincy or somewhere; he should eventually play in Europe to get more pro snaps.

I just don't see how anyone could compare playing against UPS, L & C, WOU, PLU, etc., vs. playing against USC, UCLA, Cal, etc.

Reckless reporting by Meehan.

Foss,
Allen is good, no doubt. But I'd quickly give the nod to Demetrius Williams with a 110 yards per game for the Ducks. He's recovered his MOJO and is having a nice year. No way Allen could put up those kind of numbers versus the caliber of DB's that Oregon lines up against. WOUfan makes a good point: just because someone (like Elliott or Allen) could compete at a higher level in no way suggests that they'd be able to enjoy the same kind of success against the much tougher competition at that level.

Elliott may or may not have done great in Utah's system. I think he would've done well, perhaps not Alex Smith well, but then again, maybe.

I do think the pros should give Mr. Elliott a long look, however. Clemens, IMO, is better than Harrington, he has more intangibles. He'll play in the NFL and will do fine if he's not rushed like Joey.

As for Erik Ainge, he's starting the next two years in Tennessee, he's not going D3. He also has a pro career ahead of him.

Nice write up in the oregonian this morning on the Cats and coach Ron August "Linfield to play for good health of 'RA'. The Cats will have "RA" on the back of the helmets tomorrow. Says he was discharged to go home and recuperate. Great news! WC11 can probably link it up for you , but way to high tech for me, sorry guys. Go Cats, see you guys at the tailgater in the morning. WC64 the tickets will be put to good use, Thank you! ;D
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!
