Only three...but the remaining Pool B candidates can be considered for a Pool C (so repete does have a point).

d-train....But can Pool C teams be considered for Pool B? And you say Pool B teams can be considered for Pool C....I doubt if there is any chance a Pool B team could be hoping for a Pool C slot....there is no shortage of good/qualifying Pool C teams I suspect.

Blue,
Naw, only Pool C.

From Pat's FAQ

Starting with the 2005 playoffs, the field expanded from 28 to 32 teams. That means no more first-round bye for the top team in each bracket.

Automatic bids to go the champions of 22 conferences.

There are three bids set aside solely for Pool B teams, that is, teams who are independents or in conferences without automatic bids.

The leftover Pool B teams get dumped into Pool C, and those teams get considered for the remaining seven bids.

What does this mean? Probably seven bids going to Pool C teams, although it's possible in some years the fourth-best Pool B team could get that final at-large bid.

Nope. They've already had their chance at a Pool A (but lost their conference race)...so they are already 'left-overs'. That's why they hold aside a handful of chances just for the Pool B folks. Then all the 'left-overs' are considered (in Pool C).

Why not? Its certainly possible that a 'left-over' Pool B would have a good enough resume to earn a Pool C.

On occasion, the 'final' Pool C bid has gone to a team with 2 D-3 regional losses. There's still a chance that there will be more than 3 Pool B teams with 1 (or zero) D3 regional loss...and certainly a chance that there aren't enough 1 loss Pool C teams to send...or that a (4th) Pool B team with one loss has a better case than a few 1 loss Pool C teams. Who knows? A number of things could still play out.

One game at a time guys, The Cats still have 2 road games. One a flight to Cali, and a long Bus ride to Spokane.  We finish at home with a much improved L & C Team  ;) ;).
A win Saturday over the Oak's continues the streak!!!

GHC,
Mrs. Tux and I just missed you guys at the "D", wanted to say Hi to OAS. Oh well, took me awhile to regroup after the longie's, I wanted to  thank you for staying away from the Chowder. :o

GO WILDCATS
ONE PLAY AT A TIME
ONE GAME AT A TIME
LET'S LEAVE NO DOUBT
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Wow, the Linfield D played like a bunch of crazed 'Cats! Appears the change made at RB a week or so ago was the right one. Masters runs north and south (and hard), but obviously has the speed to go outside if it's there. I know PLU didn't have many plays on offense that went for more than a few yards, but I thought #14 for the Lutes looked pretty good. He had a couple of nice grabs and one over the middle where he was surrounded by 'Cats and then turned on the jets to get away from them. I was surprised to see he is a true freshman.

It will be interesting to see the regional rankings when they come out.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Here's the Menlo game preview:

. . .  Cawcdad--looking forward to your expert pregame analysis of the Menlo-Linfield game.
Not much to add to what Coach Smith said and what is on the Linfield preview page. I was going to say as much. I can add that they had 15 guys out due to injuries, 10 were starters in the Stout game at the start of the year, in which they played pretty well. They have alot of freshman and sophomores playing which gives a lot of inexperience and leads to inconsistant play. Despite the scores, I think their D is the Oaks strong point. The O's poor play just lets the defense be on the field too long and has given the opponents short fields with turnovers.

Any of the folks on the boards going to make the trip to Atherton?

ADvantage Catdome has posted a new blog entry (video): Linfield will lose pre-game for the 3rd week in a row

I personally enjoy the haka, but Menlo might be wiser to work on football instead of entertaining the crowd.

Fair point. There's plenty of discussion of scenarios on the Pool B and Pool C threads for those interested. There's little reason to discuss that stuff here for a few more weeks.

I was seriously considering making the drive up for the game but I have to be back in L.A. early Sunday and just couldn't convince myself to drive all the way up Saturday monring and then right back after the game.  I'll be logged on to D&D of course.

Cawcdad--tell us some about the players for Menlo (which guys do we need to watch for), how do you see the Cats attacking them (besides however they want...).....etc.....c'mon you've watched these guys all season and must have some insight for us.  :)
Go Cats!

Having spent 3 days of homecoming in the drench and clear of the NW I probably will be content with the $12 viewing of the game while posting here. Did I mention the 72 degree absolutely clear weather THE DAY I LEFT?
