Cats,

Make sure the Catdome is warm and cozy for when the Johnnies arrive on Dec. 3.  Looking forward to a doozy in wine country...

Thanks, Tux Guy.....have a great Tailgater tomorrow and have an Iced Tea for me.....I will be propped in front of my desk top screen tomorrow with the MaxwellField Webcam on the screen (even with the 30 second delays) and the Darrel & Dave show playing on the 'net (hopefully with more color and less Division 1 scores)!

Go Cats!

Linfield Tailgaters Alert!!!!!!
I just remembered to let all the tailgaters know that there is going to be a problem with parking tomorrow in the usual tailgating area.  The student parking lot that is across the street from the H-P Apartments is closed for demo and construction of new buildings/remodels.

The students overflow parking is now shifted to the area where the Linfield tailgaters like to set up shop.  I drove by the other day and the parking looks really tight.

I attached a little diagram but get an early start on set up for the tailgater.

WC11,

Do you guys have a problem with Campus Rent-a-Cops in McMinnville?  They are thick like mosquitoes in Collegeville and I was wondering if you had similiar problems in Oregon.

No doubt about it, Elliot's gonna get some looks.  I bet he ends up in the arena league somewhere.  I think he could excell in that kind of game.  Canada may be an option for him too.

As far as Allen, he reminds me of Nate Jackson a little, the receiver that played for Menlo about four years ago, and ended up on NFL rosters for about three years.

I've watched Oregon and OSU's receivers up close and they're big, lean, and FAST.  Just a different level of athlete than Allen, but ya never know.

Bus,

Linfield security is pretty good about the tailgaters.  Just have your drink in a red cup and they won't bother you at all.  The Tailgate scene at Linfield is really healthy.  It was nuts during the playoff run last season.  Multiple motor homes, tents, etc.  It looked like a mini-D1 tailgate scene.

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Thanks Tux...for a college kid that was a pretty good little track.  Best all time was golf team tryouts at Michaelbook though...free golf for two weeks even if you were a hack.

Yeh, the info you guys gave on the OSU and OU receivers compared to Allen is nice. I know the OSU fans pretty much say Mike Hass is the man and they have no one else who they think they can count on (but they are playing against better competition). And I hadn't heard anything special on the Portland State receivers. But OU does have some playmakers.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

PSU has one pretty good one. Bodiford or something?

UPS has DB's that wouldn't start at most high schools, #6 is atrocious, anyway sorry PENNSTLBU you are a good guy and we are both from MT but that is a fact.

Sparn, #6, can't be that bad. He was 2nd Team NWC last year and Honorable Mention in 2002. He played high school ball w/ Craig Ochs, the former Colorado/Montana QB, and he has the similar toughness of Craig. He's battled numerous injuries, including a torn ACL during off season workouts before the 2003 season, forcing him to miss the season. He's a friend of mine and he's one of the most intense person or player I've met. He likes to get his nose in the action, and lays big lumber with each hit. He's struggled a little bit this season, but he's still a player. He makes big plays each game and is the leader of this Logger team. He's out there playing hurt, but it'll take a lot to take him out of the game.

So is anyone worried about this game?  I'm a bit worried... Puget Sound has a tough defense and they put it to us last year. I think we'll win, but I'd REALLY like to see our offense truly dominate.

Why is it I feel they've juyst been cruising.  I wish we had stiffer competition during the year.  I get worried we'll go into playoffs over confident.  I feel like we're playing down to the level of our competition rather than forcing them to play up to our level.

And the penalties!  That's coaching.

Thoughts?

Sometime it is the coaching. I do not think so with the Cats. Having talked to some folks who are / have been close to the program and been basically at the bench when Linfield played at Menlo, the Cat's coaches are very adament about avoiding penalties. Especially unsporsmanlike and personal fouls. I think some of the penalties we have seen are the product of frustration on the part of the Cats. All good athlets and teams want to win. At the same time they want to be challenges and so far this year the Linfield Wildcats have not truely had a big challenge.

The last thing is simply inconsitancy in officiating. Having played, coached and officiated (high school and semi-pro soccer) the most frustrating thing is inconsistant calls. One game or time within a game you do something and no call and the next you get called. This breeds calls as an athlete gets frustrated.

The Cats pitch a shutout today. "See" you all you cyber Cats in a few hours
