Congrats to the Rats. I just read the entire in game thread and it read like an exciting, albeit frustrating game. The Rats will beat UPS no problem. I saw Menlo dismantle them today. I was not impressed by the Loggers at all. The Oaks were certainly the better team today on all sides of the ball. It will be interesting to see what the playoff pairings look like.

Thanks again MCat. +k for you.

First off I'd like to apologize for the nice weather...I completely understand and take full responsibility for the fact that you can no longer use it as an excuse for losing.  Second, I'd like to apologize on Whitworth's behalf for making the Linfield faithful realize that 2004 was due to BE and that there will not be another Linfield QB like him and therefore no more championsips and not nearly as many conference crowns.  Last but not least, I was wondering if anyone on the board knew the Wildcat fan with the megaphone?  Not only was he wearing what looked like a letteramn's jacket even though he was well into his 20's...but he seemed strained to find anything good to say when using it.  In fact, he really didn't have anything to say at all, I mean, he did have it put away before the second quarter even started.  Linfield may be the only team to talk more trash than La Verne (and I'll admit they usually back it up) and can't wait for you posters to come on here and rip your own players and their inability to secure the football and how they aren't very good little kitties.  This conference runs through Spokane now and until you can beat Whitworth, you have no argument against it (even though I know GHC and co. will have plenty to say).  All we need now is to go beat an extremely inconsistent UPS team and then wait for Cal Lu to get the automatic bid so they can come play up in the snow...man, what a good game  ;D
Nice post, way to be classy in Victory.  just when i was thinking that 509 had been pretty cool all year he comes on and acts like a Richard.  Oh well, congrats to the Whitworth Football Team on a great victory--enjoy the honor of representing the NWC (if given the chance) and do it with class.

Here's hoping Whitworth stays focused, takes care of the Loggers, and gets selected for the playoffs.

TDT=nobody talks more smack than YOU-- And isn't St. Johns the King of the NWC? ;)  As for eating crow--I've already congratulated the Rats and stated that their DB's won the game for them (heck the scored the only TD of the game and picked of 4 more after that)---I'm not making any excuses for our loss.  Is that enough crow eating....

Congrats to Menlo on their win.  Looks like Daddio is having a great weekend down in Cali.

Hope he's already there!  It's 10-3 UW.

Whitworth -

Congrats on another victory over Linfield.     Coach Tully is hands down the best coach in the NWC for two years now.    Your defense stifles our passing game, which was far less than potent today.    As said many times, defense wins championships.    You again deserve to be the NWC champion.

Linfield -  My optimism this week turned out to be just hope.     Defense played superb.

I could write on and on about details of the last two years but I won't.    I will just say that the 4th and inches call for a run in the third qtr. was the turning point.       VERY bad coaching call.    A relatively easy field goal would have given us the lead and more momentum.     Instead, with our powerhouse running attack, of course, we don't make it and the momentum immediately shifts to the Pirates.    That was the game right there.

And, our two years of penalties and turnovers are a reason Linfield can't win the Big One.

Linfield is no longer a team to fear; they can be beaten--- six times in two years, in fact.     Still good teams here; but not great teams, like 2000-2005.     Of course, we Wildcat fans are expecting too much.   We want to be like St. John's and Mount Union every year.

But, hope springs eternal.    Wait until next year.     Whitworth certainly is the NWC team to fear.   Plus Willamette and PLU look like they are coming back stronger each year.    Linfield has much work to do.

GO CATS! GO!

Again, congrats Whitworth Pirates, NWC champions again.

Great game, great crowd, great atmosphere at the Pine Bowl today.  Linfield showed up in droves, as usual.  Credit to them and their fan base.

A great effort by both defenses.  Turnovers the key again.

Just finished reading the write up, and I have a question for Linfield faithful - Hindsight is always 20-20, but it seems to me the Wildcats should have taken the field goal (and the lead) at the start of the third quarter, rather than going for it.  With so much time to play in the game, any points there would have been a huge momentum swing.  Instead the momentum really turned toward the Whitworth D.

George, we must've been typing at the same time with the same question!

First of all, classy post Pinecone.  As for the FG--I posted this during the game but the 4th and inches came after the TD that was called back on the penalty.  I suspect the coach wanted to get those points back and thought they had a good shot.  Obviously a bad call in hindsight but of course if he had made it and gone on to drive into the endzone then we'd all be lauding him for the call.  Oh well, congrats again to the Rats.

Not real sure about passing up the field goal considering the fact that 1. we can't run the football and 2. Whitworth couldn't move the football all day.  Why wouldn't you take the lead and play D like you had been all day.

George, I don't know why asking to be like St. John's and Mount every year is too much to ask.  They should be like them every year!  They just apparently haven't figured out that you can't turn the ball over 5 times every game!

509, I echo Monrovia's thoughts.  Just when it looked like you weren't quite the prick that I thought you were, you come in here with that gem.  Just a reminder Linfield won DOZENS of conference chapionships before BE came to town and that's not going to change.  Linfield has won more conference championships this decade without BE than Whitworth has in the last 30 years.   Don't get too cocky, you beat a team by 4 points that you had a +5 on.  If you were the badasses you think you are you would have won by three touchdowns... Get a win next week, take care of the SCIAC sacrificial lamb, and then see if you can beat somebody from another conference in the playoffs.  Good win today...

George, the last thing we want to be is LIKE anyone especially SJU--  Win or lose I am proud to be a Cat !!
As for coaching calls--give me a break.  The Cat coaches are the best--I for one will always place 100% of my Cat faith behind them.  Our kids played one hell of a football game today.  They came up short but looking back on this year I feel that they showed a HUGE upside.
The CATS will reload-recruit-and continue, and I for one will be there to support them.

Don't second guess--support the program.
