Not exactly D3 news but a good comparison to the D3 academic standards:

Matt Leinart would like to dance away from USC with another national championship.

The fifth-year senior will have plenty of time to focus on football in his final season. Leinart is enrolled in one class: Ballroom dancing will fulfill the final elective for his sociology degree, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Do D3 guys get to take it this easy if they are a fifth year?  Doesn't seem like it.

Look for the Week 1 West Region Recap to feature a story on a Linfield player not named Elliott or Allen.

At the D-III level an athlete does not have to be a full-time student if the person's course load satisfies his or her final degree requirements. Any D-III senior could do the same, provided they had one elective left over and Ballroom Dancing were considered worthy of awarding credits for.

Someone tricked out GHC's look...nice. 8)

I had a real easy time of it my last several months at PLU. I took philosophy 101 during the summer and 1 P.E. credit that fall. ;D But as Pat said, that's all I had left to complete my degree. I was in at least 12-14 credit hours every other semester (plus I worked, which I doubt Matt Leinart does/has).

D..... one doesn't have to work in school when he has a golden arm like matt,  wish I could have taken ballroom anything........ Nice look GHC 10 stars!!!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Regarding the playbook, if it had to be given to someone outside the program I think I'd go with Ricky Williams. No harm if someone is just going to lose it.

catback4, thanks for the honest feedback on Haze. He'll be a lot of fun to watch wherever he plays, no doubt.

Quick note on the UWSP game. I think we should have an easier time this year since they are the ones who have to travel halfway across the country. The one thing going for them this time, however, is that they will have a game against the #4 team in the country under their belt and two weeks to rest before facing the 'Cats. Last season they (like us) had played a weak team as their only warmup.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Brett Elliott mentioned in a nice article on the former Ute O Lineman who passed away this week.

Wow new board looks great... for somereason the board doesn't like comcast e-mails so alas I had to start over again with a new name.
:o

I like these new options...

Catback yes I'm still at Kentwood, things are shaping up... still working with the froshies, better that way smaller egos to stroke.... Varsity is looking pretty decent, strong but not exceptionally deep.
Cat little T-feeze will be joining a couple conks at Eastern 6'4 220 WR and a 6'4" 300 OL...  Talking with their coaches at camp they feel they might have had the best recruiting class in the state.

Vice versa. Comcast doesn't like the board.

Gig Harbor Cat

#178
The 2005 GHC pre-season Picks for the CATS
PHONE EM IN BOYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Western Oregon.  Cats are a +44 in the opener.  As it was last year its over at the half.  Cats showcase what will be the roadshow that goes Back to Back in 05.
Final  Linfield  50-6

Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Cats are a +31 here. The difference this year will be the Cat SALTY D--- The Pointer Pups keep it close early but clearly are not a match for the Cats
Final  Linfield  44-13

PLU.  Cats are a +34.  The stash pulls out the whole bag-o-tricks for this one but to no avail.  Cats run away with it early in the second half.
Final  Linfield  51-17

Whitworth.  Cats are a +40 here.  Even though the Rats feel that they can give the Cats a run at home, they are mistaken.  The Cats get great weather in Spokane and close the deal early.  The SALTY D scores twice, recovers 3 fumbles. The Butcher does what he does.
Final  Linfield 49-9

SOU.   Cats are a +44. In the past SOU has played the Cats tough at home, but this year SOU just doesnt have the horses to hang with our Cats. Lots of O for the Cats in this one. Records will fall.
Final  Linfield  63-19

UPS.  Cats are a +38, only because UPS tries once again to be a ball hog (for a lack of better description).  Salty D has another big day for the Cats.  They pitch a shutout.
Final  Linfield 38-0

Menlo.  Cats are a +50.  The boys air it out in the warm California weather.  Salty D shows up big again, everybody plays in this one.
Final  Linfield 57-7

L & C.  I am excited about this one cause I think I could suit up and play here.  Again a + 50 but that is at the half.  Lots of PT for all of the Cats, Starters get some pre playoff rest.
Final  Linfield 63-0

Willamette.  Cats are a +34 in this one with the Cat D forcing 4 turnovers.  Willamette shows some ability to move the ball but as usual the Cats swat the fly.
Final  Linfield  44-10

OK boys there you have it.  My scientific picks for the regular season.  This all being said I am back to one game at a time--You all know that.  I just had to put some sort of a serious post up for #1000.

See you all at the Catdome.  MOJO and I are packed and ready.

   GO CATS

Funny story for you Linfield fans...

I just got home from a softball tourney and wanted to throw on something comfortable.  Gym shorts and my 2000 Linfield Football sleeveless t-shirt  (acquired in a t-shirt swap with DensLa last year) fit the bill.

I walked out of the bedroom closet and my wife says, "That's a pretty hot ratty old shirt."

There's just something about Linfield, I guess.  I'll wear it all night and keep you boys posted tomorrow :)
